Gahahaha, no doubt, digital sales are going up. But also remember the artists that are benefiting the most out of this. People like Radiohead, Nine Inch Nails, Lil Wayne, and Jay-Z. They sold a GRIP of digital albums. But they've got the fan-base to pull that off. Somebody like Souljah Boy who did take the game by storm, sold one single and set records with that.

The way the digital game works, for the most part, is single sales, not as much on albums. So what happens with somebody like Method Man who is one of our heroes but is out of touch with the new market: he puts out a single, no body jumps on it, he says eff it. Then it doesn't blow on the internet, no one cops the single.

What labels are also doing is down-playing the role digital sales are making. So by saying "physical sales are going down," they're making it seem like the game is spiraling out of control. The truth is it only costs about 1 to 2 dollars to make a CD. They're saving that, but a lot of times it's not going back down to the artist.

In the end though, it wasn't about whose selling, it's about why they're selling. Doods are hustling their asses off. There's a type of regional Mexican music called duranguense, it's an underground type that is just bubbling over into the main stream.

These guys are the perfect example of what our artists need to do. They go on tour before they even have an album out. Before they even have a single, they build a fan base through touring. Then they put the album out and KEEP touring. In America, our business model is a lot different. If an album ain't selling, labels pull the plug.

So I mean there's a number of things going wrong, but I'm just trying to see somebody like Mef' or Red or Camp Lo be on the scene making MAADDDDDDDDDDD moves.
