Throughout democratic presidential candidate Senator Barack Obama’s campaign, he has confirmed his appreciation for Hip Hop, on occasion interrupting his speeches to dust his shoulders off, or even admitting to MTV that he keeps Kanye West and Jay-Z on the iPod [click to read].
Hip Hop artists have not been afraid to reciprocate the love. Rapper Jay-Z, one of Obama’s long time supporters, has scheduled to put on two free shows this weekend in Detroit and Miami in order to gain support for the Obama Campaign.
Jay will kick off the weekend with a show in Detroit on Saturday. The performance will promote voter registration, garnering support, preferably, for Barack Obama. Because the voter registration deadline in Michigan is Monday, October 6th, Jay’s free shows are hoping to get new voters registered before that date. Those 18 and older will be able to pick up one free ticket at Obama campaign offices, which will allow them to attend the show and the rally afterwards.
On Sunday, Jay-Z plans to push voter registration with a show in Miami. Florida, whose 25 electoral votes have proven to be crucial in prior elections, will be significant in the ‘08 race for both presidential candidates, Obama and McCain. As Florida’s voter registration deadline is also on Monday, Jay will accompany the Miami show with a number of other events in an effort to register new voters.
The Vice Presidential debates between Governor Sarah Palin and Senator Joe Biden will air this Thursday in St. Louis, while the second debate between Senators Obama and McCain is scheduled for October 7th in Tennessee.

1st I been with Royce for a while now...Don't really got a proper time table but the first time I heard him was on GTA III. I've been an listener every since. Easily one of my favorite rappers. Favorite song by him is Probably "I & Me"
Downloaded a few songs...and copped his albums favorite on is Death is Certain.
So don't get it twisted...been rockin with him for a while.
And to say Royce doesn't stand a chance simple makes you a dumb ass. Because there on equal plateaus makes it an interesting debate.
No doubt Joe Budden is the truth. Another one of my favorites.
BUT!
Nickle Nine he is not. Though Buddens is crazy with the lyrics...certain dimensions of his style are inferior to Royce's.
I'll use....LyricalThought's way to rate them each:
Flow
Royce - Crazy flow, not once does he take a bar off. The energy and passion he brings can only be match by a VERY select few. And this few does not include Joe.
Budden - Crazy flow as well. I think its inferior to Royce's though. Joe uses a rather simplistic 2 bar system. Don't get me wrong his rhymes are tight. But in the way he presents them is a little on the simple side. Take a listen to a Budden song. He rarely extends his rhyme scheme more than 2 bars. Which kinda makes him a bit predictable.
Advantage: Royce
Delivery
Royce - No one can deny he brings it! Period. Aside from Eminem, you truly can't compare Royce to anyone. And recently he's even evolved his lyrical talent. Its definitely a craft for Royce.
Budden - Actually I kinda like Budden's delivery better. Royce's anger and humor sometimes make him come off as cheesy. Budden's sarcasm and the particular way he uses his adlibs add emphasis to his lyrics. Makes the man nearly flawless.
Advantage: Budden
Wordplay
Royce - Can't say enough...Royce is as good as it gets. Vocab is crazy! And the order and consistency he places his words can't be match. One of the ONLY rappers that can keep the exact same rhyme scene for an entire SONG. (Listen: It's The New, That your man) Every word is important, ever bars is PERFECTLY formatted. Nothing seems out of place.
Budden - also very good. But I think that's more due to the 2 bar system he usually uses. Grab 2 or 3 words that rhyme and throw them at the end of a few sentences. Not to complex. THOUGH the actual substance in these sentences are what separates Buddens from others. However it isn't really hard to be able to listen to Budden's and guess when he'll end a bar. Vocab can sometimes be shaky.
Advantage: Royce
Simile
Royce: Sometimes over uses similes which is kinda annoying. Though his similes are way above average. This may not be a good thing since similes are usually the most simple for making comparisons.
Budden: doesn't use similes to much. But when he does they do raise eye brows.
Advantage: Budden
Metaphors
Royce & Budden: Very unique and different, sometimes you listen to many rappers you find similar metaphors among a few. This is rarely a case with these to. There metaphors usually cannot be mirrored. They do have a different way of presenting them. Joe adds a bit of quirkiness and sarcasm to his...other wise there to of the best. do to MY likes any dislikes I would probably pick Royce in this category. But I understand not others value what I value. So I gotta take that in account.
Advantage: Push
Creativity
Royce: Literally kills any beat he jumps on. He can keep the original topic yet twist it to fit his tone and direction. This song is a perfect example of how he can keep the feel of the original song, but make it sound like he should of copyrighted it. As of now the comparison's to Eminem are starting to seem idiotic. He's evolving.
Budden: Doesn't sound like any one. But his style isn't hard to mimic. Alot of times when he spits is more of his content then his presentation & creativity. Meaning We focus more on what he says then how he says it. Which is USUALLY a good thing. Unless of course your dealing with a dual threat like Royce.
Advantage: Royce
I tried to be unbiased and realistic. Someone respond...interested in what others have to say. May be able to sway my mind. But for now...
