man whaaat? these niggas is dopin yall, u hatin on rakim nigga? what kinda shit is that? this shit right here nigga is fire, this nigga right here is a legend, if u can see that then u cant see real hip hop. u got it all twisted, rappin aint got shit to do with proving something. lame ass niggas
^^^HAHA! David Barrels! HAHHA! you lame ass nigga! You got that bar from wikipedia you fuckin clown!!!!!!
You never jammed the god stop frontin!
Just by pure coincidence I happened to look up rakim on wikipedia last night to see what album know the ledge was on and that was the lyric they had used as a reference!
You fuckin square ass frontin ass nigga!!!!!!
HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
LMMFAO!!!!!
LMAO. Gethip, I ain't even surprised my nigga. He was born in 1990. Ra was making classics before that lame was born. That nigga don't know shit about hip-hop that's why he always talking shit about legends like Pun and Rakim. I told that nigga before to put his N'synce cd back in his player and to stop fronting about hip-hop.
DAMN. gethip put this nigga on blast!!!! hahahahahah i cant beleiive this bum ass nigga bit that line off wikipedia. yikes bro how lame is u...and so what if hes 40, if he can still spit better than some of the top niggas in hip hop today why quit? get yo paper nigga, and stop hatin on niggas thats doin they thang.
WIKIPEDIA? SMH THAT BARS FROM A RAKIM FAN WEB SITE ....
JUST BEACAUSE I WAS BORN IN THE 90-S DONT MEAN ANYTHING
LIKE U WAS BORN WHEN 'Sugar ray Robinson' FIRST STARTED AND SAW ALL HIS FIGHTS ? BE SERIOUS YA OLD NIKKAZ IS CLOWN WHERES E-R WHEN U NEED EM AHAHAAAAAAAA
Hearin a dude like rakim be so fresh after SO many years (first verse was fire)...it's hard to believe we still support artists who go cold after one album or a hot single
STAY CREATIVE...don't compromise your lyrics
i really missed hip hop damnnnn....so best believe am standing on my computer chair rite about now niggaz...
this shit is hard...beat is knockin, i wanna hear a nas freestyle over this 1
Now this track is legitimately hot. Good shit my nigga, keep it coming.
It's ashamed that the only niggas spitting hot shit from NY are the niggas who been doing it for over a decade. It's like they the only ones who tryna preserve yall shit.
Our new niggas are preserving ours, if yall new generation of rappers would do the same I guarantee it would be balanced and nobody would be saying hip hop is dead up north.
I respect Rakim, and I respect this song. This niggas tryna save yall, just go out and support him, I might if you dont.
^^Like who?? Other than maybe TI, Luda, and Lil Wayne (who's not even a new rapper by the way) what new nigga is holding down the south in a positive way? Soulja Boy?? Mike Jones?? Paul Wall?? The niggas that made "Crank that Batman"??
Yall old heads are trying to hold down the south too: Outkast, UGK, Face, 8 Ball and MJG....
The South is just hot right now fam, nothing more nothing less, it's their turn. Yall new rappers are hot trash. I fuck with that old school southern shit: The Diary, 400 Degrees, ATLiens, etc... But southern music from like 2005 until now is ass.
TI, Luda, Jeezy, Webbie, Boosie, Lil Wyte, Young Buck, Allstar Cashville Prince, Plies, Rick Ross, Trick Daddy, Chamillionaire, Trae, Z-Ro, Franchise Boys, Slim Thug & The Boss Hogg Outlawz (great, slept on album btw), andLil Scrappy.
If you want me to keep going I can. I know you might not like some of these goods, but before you call them wack based on singles, tell me which of their albums you've heard that were wack, because when you listen to their albums, you can tell that they were all influenced by our earlier artists.
Damn, King said some real ass shit. He know what the fuck he's talking about because the only niggas spitting that NY shit are our the niggas that's been doing it big for over 10 years, and the south got new niggas getting on off of their own shit. We definitely need niggas to do that for us.
If you listen to some old Ball & G, Cash Money, No Limit, Outkast, UGK, you can definitely hear the influences through the new niggas albums. Im sorry but I gotta respect that shit.
TI (01'), Luda (00') & Trick (late 90s) (especially Trick) are definatly not new rappers. And half the niggas on your list aren't holding down the south in a major way either. Like I can't even name one album from most of them niggas. When east coast niggas dropped music in their primes (90s to early 2ks) everybody knew about that shit: east, west, south, north they all know about Reasonable Doubt, Ready to Die, It was written, It's Dark and Hell is Hot, No Way Out etc... The niggas on your list like Franshcise Boys, Scrappy, Lil Wyte, Trae etc... are all in their primes but nobody around here knows about their music like that.
The only mainstream niggas (that people from the east coast know about and mess wit) holding it down are Tip, Luda and Weezy like I said earlier (o yea and Jeezy). The rest of them niggas only have a southern audience. So it's not like everybody in the south is hot, only a handle full of niggas.
Jay, Nas, X, BIG, Run DMC, even 50 had for the most part a national audience (EVERYBODY knew about their music when it dropped) more than half the niggas on your list don't have a national audience.
But they are known outside of the south. I know Lil Wyte, Trae, Z-Ro, & Allstar aren't known very much, but the rest of them are very well known. As far as you saying they arent knew, they arent the pioneers either. I guess I shoulda said the niggas in their prime then. What about the NY niggas that haven't passed their prime yet?
Name some new NY niggas that are holding down your culture, that are known outside of the city, and still in the prime?
So Buck, Lil Scrappy, Webbie, Boosie, Franchize Boyz, and Chamillionaire aren't Franchise?
What niggas do yall have in TI, Luda, or Wayne's age category preserving yall's culture? That's an even better question.
NY dudes is still going strong though fam. Nas last album is damn near plat and was damn near classic, same wit Jay's American Gangster. Busta's last joint the Big Bang was hot ass hell. Talib's "Ear Drum" was one of the best albums of 07'. Can you honestly say that when them southern artists in their prime (TI, Luda, Wayne, Jeezy etc...) get into the game like 15 years deep? Will they still be able to drop classics that sell?? I mean Face just dropped his new shit. What did he do??
Also all three of there last albums were considered less than average albums (release therapy, TI vs TIP, and the inspriation). They only been in tha game for less than 10 years and they're already starting to slack. And WTF was Trick Daddy's last album?? Even Cham's last album?? I know he had a song wit Slick Rick but I still can't remember the name of the album. It's like niggas (Buck, Boozie, Slim Thug, Cham....) last for two albums and disappear. They (new southern rappers) ain't built like east coast or them old school southern rappers, they lack consistent quality music and longevity.
Also people still remember east coast hip-hop from the 80s and 90s. Do you think we gon be remembering the music of Slim Thug, Boozie, Soulja Boy, Franchise boys, D4l etc... 10 years down the line?? I highly doubt it.
The South is bigger than the East Coast right now no doubt but compared to the East Coast in it's prime (mid 80s all the way to early 2ks) east coast clearly had better albums and sales than the south. There are waaaay too many east coast classics for me to name from the 80s through the 2ks. So I'm not gonna waste my time wit that.
"What niggas do yall have in TI, Luda, or Wayne's age category preserving yall's culture? That's an even better question."
^^There ain't no niggas right now from the east coast as big ass them. I don't deny that shit. That's clear fam. The south is poppin right now. Every coast has it's turn. East coast could only be on top for so long. But there are a shit load of East coast artists in that age group that would shit on them niggas lyrically (Siagon, Pap, Buddens, Joel Ortiz, Cass, Free etc...). And if you want to play the age game, were any of them niggas (TI, Luda, Weezy, Jeezy etc..) as big as Jay, Nas, BIG, DMX, Wu-tang, Busta, Meth and Red etc... in their primes???? HELLLL NOOOOO!!!
So what I'm saying is the south is poppin right now and they're in their prime right now. But compared to east coast's prime(80s - early 2ks) it ain't even close which coast had better music.
The original claim was that only the Older NY niggas was holdin it down right now.
That couldnt be further from the truth G.
Them god damn NY niggas are so stubbornly true to they style that they might be the only niggas really stickin true to the blueprint of real hip-hop.
Saigon, Cassidy, Pap.
Thats 3 lyrically heavy hitters that are sticking to the craft without comprimise. Budden from jersey but he another one.
I aint trying to seperate or pick sides. I think you both make good points but as far as the golden era niggas being the only niggas spitting hot shit... no way fam. New York has long been the birthplace of the hottest niggas. Its just that the south is having a very good run right now because they got a popular new sound thats controlling the airwaves. Good. Thats good shit. It took them niggas a long time to earn they recognition so they deserve they shine. But it dont make em no hotter than anybody else. If you wanna say whats hot i would say Kanye West sound is the most sought after right now and that nigga aint from the south or new york. Seriously, the control shifts so much in the industry that it could be houston sound right now, st. louis tomorrow, new york next week. 50 cent and Kanye are both far from the south. Eminem aint from the south and that nigga gonna ship gold off rip and you know it. The south is a threat but they far from being bullies in this shit.
The NY dudes you named as still going strong are the ones from the Golden Era, which was my original point that you interpreted wrong, or just wanted me to think that.
Im not saying the south is better than NY, Im not saying that our niggas that are in their prime are bigger than Jay or BIG, Im just saying that they are sticking to the southern manuscript.
Also all three of there last albums were considered less than average albums (release therapy, TI vs TIP, and the inspriation). They only been in tha game for less than 10 years and they're already starting to slack.
Jay-Z (Vol-3 Life & Times of S. Carter), wasn't up to par, Nas(Nastradamus & Streets Disciple, some say the wackest album of 06'), were both wack. What about that. Every album won't be great, but I guarantee they'll bounce back. Not to mention, Luda won a Grammy for his not so good album.
When TI, Luda, Wayne, & Jeezy get 15 years in the game I hopefully won't be counting on them to drop classics, because they will have tutored some younger niggas to pick up where they left off, kinda like Face did with Luda. Are we depending on Face for a classic to save our heritage?? Hell no, but yall depending on Jay, Nas, & Rakim aren't you?
10 years down the line we'll all remember what Tip, Jeezy, Wayne, & Luda have done right??? We dont remember everything from NY, just the best niggas from the yall's 1st & 2nd Generation (Nas, Rakim, Slick, Jay, Big); ya feel me.
And if you want to play the age game, were any of them niggas (TI, Luda, Weezy, Jeezy etc..) as big as Jay, Nas, BIG, DMX, Wu-tang, Busta, Meth and Red etc... in their primes????
You coulda stopped with DMX, because Wu-tang, Busta (who's shit was considered wack down here), and Meth & Red (who I thought were in Wu-tang) werent really big down here so I can say yes, Wayne, TIP, & Luda were all bigger than them in their prime because niggas were, and are, bumping them nationwide.
I feel you on that. Them niggas spitting, but two of em ain't dropped albums yet so Idk what to expect from them. They are trying to hold it down, but I disagree with Cass as far as him trying to preserve something, but like I said I respect Joe, Pap, & Sai (who said his album will be better than Illmatic...smh)
As far as you saying they the only niggas trying to stick to true hip hop, that depends on where you from. Our definiton of real hip hop is what we heard 1st that we could relate to: UGK, Ball & G, 3-6, Geto Boys, Too Short, Luke, Snoop & the NWA niggas, & whoever else was spitting that gangsta shit early on. That's the manuscript we're sticking too because that's what we can relate to.
As a matter of fact DaGod, to prove my point about yall need these older niggas to keep yall's shit alive, just look at the majority of the comments on these Rakim single's, here's a couple:
"This is what the Fckk I'm talking about, rappers not talking about hip-hop being dead, and getting up and bring that shiit back. Rakim do the damn things show these kat wat hip-hop is and wats it about. I'm not going to lie, he cant do it by himself. But if Jay and Nas Also started dropping songs then it would be a rap for these lame ass rappers. Just Imagine Nas Rakin and Jay dropping a whole bunch of quality hip hop records around the same time....hip hop would go Krazzy."
Skillz
"Him and Nas need to do a mixtape.........."
"Fuck a mixtape, do an album"
Havana2Bueno & IllmaticSupra (or whatever, I forgot, lol)
" I really missed hip hop damnnnn....so best believe am standing on my computer chair rite about now niggaz...
this shit is hard...beat is knockin, i wanna hear a nas freestyle over this 1"
Eazzy
It's like yall sitting around waiting for the old niggas to make a move. Jay & Nas shoulda been tutoring niggas to prevent this shit from happening. Now Nas' saying HHID, well it's partially his fault yall's shit is dying because instead of taking a young prodige under his wing, he was beefing with Jay-Z. He shoulda been molding a young artist or two, because he should know whatever, or whoever, he touches, his millions of fans will support.
GODDAMN fam. LOL How long we gon be commenting for back on forth with like pages of shit? My nigga I'ma end it after this comment and you could see me on my page or something wit it if u got more to sat or watever.
Aight as far as dudes from our "golden age", they still rocking. What's wrong with that though? If they could still do it why not?? Nah mean? And u must of not read my full comment but I named them dudes like Pap, Sai, Ortiz etc... Also we got cats like Beans, Fab, Cass, Jim Jones(hate em or luv him he from the east coast), 50(who could smash any southern arists with sales and hits), LOX, Freeway etc....
Nas's Street Disciple was not a bad album at all. It wasn't realeaed in 06' though it was 04'. Anyway, who said Streets Disciple was the whackest of that year?? That album was maaad slept on fam. But I see where u coming from with, that everyone makes a whack album from time to time.
Also Grammy's don't mean shit nigga, just cause Jeezy got a Grammy for his whack ass album don't make it any better. Scarface(one of my fav of all time) never had a Grammy and he like 10X better than Jeezy. There are mannnny legends that never got Grammy's (Nas, X, 8 Ball and MJG, Snoop,Meth, Red etc...) Grammy's ain't shit they just lump up every black category together and call it hip-hop.
Like I said every coast has it's turn. It's the south's turn to shine and they doing it. And we'll see in like 10 years if TIP, Luda, Jeezy and Weezy are still relevant.
GOD.. thats all i can say. now give me my props!!this guy is like 40 and he is sicker than 99% of the game right now... he is still relevant..damn...Rakim..who is God?..
No doubt Rakim iz back & he reviveing hip hop, bout damn time to, no doubt im coppin this album when it drop, and u right P.Storm he better than 99% of the game right now.....RAKIM IS GOD
i love the lyrics- da god MC is back....but....the beats need more people. the last two songs been fire, but the production has been slightly lackluster. him and Premo need to team up.
I agree go out and support that shit. I am from the A, but I like good hip hop music myself. As far as doing numbers like in the early 90's to 00's. Back then downloading music wasn't and issue, but now its hard for any artist to sell like in the past. Because you know more than 85 to 90 percent of you all dont buy CD's anymore just dowload them.
Lets kick some basic knowledge. If artist knew that when there shit drops people would actually buy the album versus downloading. They would put there heart and soul into like in the past. Now days they like shit when I drop my album 1/4 of the people will buy it. The other 3/4 will download. So I am going to make it good, but not going to put much thought into it. Support the artist and get better music. Thats real talk folk...

As far as you saying Webbie, Franchise Boys,
Gethip
Where is Eric B?
GOD.. thats all i can say. now give me my props!!this guy is like 40 and he is sicker than 99% of the game right now... he is still relevant..damn...Rakim..who is God?..
No doubt Rakim iz back & he reviveing hip hop, bout damn time to, no doubt im coppin this album when it drop, and u right P.Storm he better than 99% of the game right now.....RAKIM IS GOD
it was strait bt i wouldnt drive down da street and listen to it. dis is probally da last time ima listen to dis 4real!
dope track.
rakim=G.O.A.T.
GUESS WAT MOTHERFUCKERS!....HIP HOP JUST CAME BAK FROM DA DEAD!
Fuck you. you wack. I give no props to you
i love the lyrics- da god MC is back....but....the beats need more people. the last two songs been fire, but the production has been slightly lackluster. him and Premo need to team up.
This is what the Fckk I'm talking about, rappers not talking about hip-hop being dead, and getting up and bring that shiit back.
Rakim do the damn things show these kat wat hip-hop is and wats it about. I'm not going to lie, he cant do it by himself.
But if Jay and Nas Also started dropping songs then it would be a rap for these lame ass rappers.
Just Imagine Nas Rakin and Jay dropping a whole bunch of quality hip hop records around the same time....hip hop would go Krazzy.
shit niice track
I like it... imagine if him and Dre could have seen eye to eye
The album is gonna be HUGE, Rakim is still on point!
RAKIM GOES HARD AS ALWAYS! BUT ON THE REAL INSTEAD OF TALKING ABOUT HOW GOOD HE IS, LET'S ALL GO OUT AND SUPPORT THAT SHYT THAT WE GREW UP ON YA DIG!!
REALTALK HOMIE!
"my flow still tight when ima bout to get loose" rakim need to drop, tired of the bubble gum shyt
