Lupe is one of my favorite Hip-hop artists. That being said, I've noticed something disturbing about the guy that may keep him from that mainstream appeal that you guys seem to want for him so much: beat selection. Lyrics show skill, but the music moves the crowd. Alot of people tend to forget that. His 1st album was classic, and the music was good, but alot of the songs I've heard besides that do two things, impress me lyrically, depress me musically. You can't sit there and say the beat to this record is better than, Ay bay bay, or the superman that hoe shit. The lyrics seem like nonsense but from a writing perspective, it really is just as hard to come up with a track like that(one that moves a nation) as it is to right the excellent verse Lu dropped. All in all, the lyrics are great, but I wanna here great songs.

If you just listen to music in the whip or at the crib, I understand you not feelin' them. But don't hate, all that snap music is actually AUTHENTIC HIP-HOP MUSIC! Remember Breakdancing? Today's trends are taking it back to dance and having fun, that's it. With all the pain in the world(911, Katrina, etc.) it's good to see the shift.

But, nas & Jay are? No, Soulja Boy is just as much part of Hip-Hop, as Jay, Nas, Lu or anyone else. It's just a different aspect he embraces, a different chamber. Just becaus it don't appeal to you, doesen't mean it ain't hip-hop. If you look at the history, you'll see that cats like Mobb Deep, Jay-Z, and Nas actually helped bring about all the negative crap floatin' around that is messing it up(money, drugs, violence.)I grew up in similar environments to those they describe and lived a very similar lifestyle so I accept and embrace the music the produce but I realize that ain't all there is to life, that's why I can like the flip side of the coin as well. Open your mind, quit grudgin' and judgin.

True story. Why this blog on Lupe's new track(who is one of my favorite artists, top 3 even)is being used to discredit Souljah Boi, is beyond me. Big up the Lu song(even though it ain't that good)or diss it. And you are trippin'if you say this song has a better beat than Crank that, etc.. It's lame. Period. The lyrics are aiight, though I've heard better from Lu(a genius, so I'm a critical of all his rhymes, he's too good not to be)but the beat is garbage, it makes me wanna sit still. Too much hate in the world. If you put this track on at a party or club, the dance floor would clear. Put it in my deck, I'd cut on the radio. That being said, I ain't bumpin, Souljah boy in my shit either, but at least I like it in the clu, which is what it's made for, to get the party poppin'. Don't know what this track was designed for, but I have to keep scrolling to the top of the page to remeber the title.
