Okay, I just listened to Sugarhill and The Hardest Out. I've had Illmatic for a while, but I never knew who that was that rapped the first verse, and I also heard Sugarhill a long time ago, I just didn't know whose song it was, but it always had a nice vibe to it.
They were all cool tracks, but in my opinion, Nas, Rakim, and AZ's rap style's are the exact same. I guess if you like one then you like all three of them.
I respect their lyrical ability, but I can't listen to them for extended periods of time. It just gets boring. They all rap at a constant, monotoned, speed in every track. It's just not too entertaining for me.
i mean theres no doubt AZ and Nas got similar styles and Rakim was one of the first and best to do it and def influenced Nas thats why hes always giving him shout outs...if you dont like them then you probably just dont like NY hip-hop period, but you from the south so do you...and i hear you sometimes im not in the mood for they style cuz its not really party or background music its sit back and listen closely to catch everything they saying type music (but AZ got some joints you can dance to)... if you want smooth flow, real content, and lyrical ability it gets no better

Yeah this is classic AZ, some 80's type break and real lyrics... Although I'm not really feelin the synth, that sounds like bagpipes or some shit, not me. The beat is tight though, nice drums/patterns... 7/10.
