Production: 9.0
The production was unbelievable, very uniform and I believe his production on
this album will simply amaze the listeners. Starting off with the well put
together track called "Life to me" keeping a steady mellow pace
throughout the song. One that stuck out was "My Piano" he really left
his comfort zone with this track. The guitar sample that he added was
mind-blowing Aside from "My Piano" he did touch into his comfort zone
with "Step Ya Game Up(Remix)" bringing back the soulful funky
underground tracks we all were looking forward to.
Songs: 7.0
"Piano Man"
Ghost and Rae really brought it in this track, sad to say Tek's verse bored me.
In my opinion he should stick to producing and step out of the booth. Bringing
unimpressive lyrics and an overused flow to the track, he did more damage than
good to the song. one of the highlights of this hard edged track is when Tek
finally steps to the side and let Ghost and Rae do what they do best. With a
guitar sample playing in the back round, the intensity on this track can be
felt from first listen
"Step Ya Game Up(Remix)"
This is hands down my favorite song on the album, Dion’s sound throughout the
song impressed me with the vibe it put off. Pooh's verse was consistent and
went well with the tempo of this track. Phonte's sense of humor along with his
delivery really caught my attention the most in this song
"Time" Ft. Talib Kweli and Dion
Kweli, spit fire as usual. Speaking out on the importance of time. Explaining
on how he and others uses time. Tek sure knows how to produce for his long time
partner in crime. Dion once again is the tape that holds the song together and
he does a great job at it, singing with a soulful voice describing how time can
be your best friend and/or worst enemy if you don't use it the correct way.
Lyrics: 6.0
The mainstream artist that were featured on this album, sadly were the only
that really stood out to me.
Ghost's and Rae's Verses on "Piano Man" were no less than CRACK!
.Tek's verse not so much...Get out the booth man. Leave it to the pro's
Little Brother on "Step Ya Game Up(Remix)" They gave the usual
balance of humorous yet relatable lyrics ."My game ain't work like it did
before, them was days long gone cause once they get grown, these hoe's ain't
impressed by Applebee’s no more, gotta dig a little deeper for that pf change,
for pf Changs,..." I really like how the song flowed overall, one of the
best tracks on the album.
Talib as well did nothing but impress me "Time flies when you having fun,
I'll be in the throne for a long time all you haters pack a lunch" as he
usually does (period)on the thought provoking "Time" Speaking the
truth about a wide range of topic surrounds the focal point of this
track...time... "They lack the minerals and vitamins with time releases,
so they try to blind you with the diamonds in they time piece"
But, other than the previous mention. I was kinda disappointed with the lyrical
content.
Conclusion: 7.0
Despite the superb job done in production, it takes more than just a hot beat to make a great album, and unfortunately the production of this cd wasn't enough to pull it all together. It may make a couple of songs bearable but eventually there needs to be some sort of content or lyrical mastery to make the production shine brighter. Sorry to say but the lyrics didn't pull me in enough. For a good percentage of the album I was so wrapped up with the great beats I sometimes completely overlooked the lyrics. There are a few diamonds in the dirt though, "Time" , "Step Ya Game Up(Remix)" but if this is the best new talent that hip hop has to offer, I dread the future of hip hop with these artist being the future elite Emcee’s.

Good shit
nice job..
wow nice review. im not suprised that the production got a 9, hi-tek always make it happen beat-wise. but at the same time, that can hurt you if you dont put the same effort in your lyrical content. he's more of a producer than rapper.
great job.... nice review
I still can't believe he trying to rap and shit.. Good review tho.
aint heard it yet but i wouldnt be surprised if its a just 7
Uhm, Litte brother been out for a minute and the track "Step Your Game Up" is from Getback (Classic album btw dropped in Sept 07), but Phonte had to leak it b/c their label dicked them (found it at a circuit city and bought it though).
Just thought to add that..Nice review.

Nice review by Outcome. I felt the exact same way about the album. The production was beautiful, but it's the lame lyrics that make the album boring and lifeless at times. Review was on point

This is a great album. I dont know why it got a 7 i was thinking 8.5. If the feature more lyrical artists then it was would have been a masterpiece. overall great album you should cop it.
7.5
It was solid, but nothing major. Its hard to incoroporate so many different artists each with different styles on to one cd.
Join the likes o f DJ Khaled? Please, DJ Khaled isn't anywhere near as good as this guy. Nah, scratch that, he's not even in the rhealm of good.
Hi Tek always got heat. I've loved his production since before Black star, when he had that track manifesto with Talib Kweli on the lyricist lounge cd
