PRODUCTION- 8
If an album were judged solely on its production this album would be just fine. Fab went out and got some of the hottest producers out right now, Timberland, Swizz beats, Jermaine Dupri, Neo Da Matrix, The Runners, Just Blaze and many more blessed this album with tracks. There was no dull point production wise. He even has a track produced by Akon on this project, and it’s probably one of the best songs on the entire album (Change Up). Fab could do no wrong when it came to production, but unfortunately for him, the beats are just one part of a song.
Lyrics-6
The average Fabolous fan has come to expect the average Fabolous lyrics, the slick punch lines and the quirky remarks that add to the effect of the line. Fabolous once again does not disappoint. Every song is filled with punch lines, the only problem is at best they are either to simple or just not that impressive, he has his moments but for the most part its an illusion, and the reality is that his ability to flow on a beat make a simple line sound hot, when honestly its just him riding the beat like a perfect wave. There are very few eye opening statements. This CD lacks the rewind factor (opinions may vary).
Songs-5 The thing that makes a great artist is their ability to be creative, and find something new to catch the fans. You have to be brave and skilled enough to take a chance. Fabolous does not do that. There are 18 songs on the album, and the formula used for these songs is the formula used for every other rapper out, it’s just recycled topics with new beats. You have your songs for the ladies, and then there are the radio singles, the gangsta gangsta songs, the one song where he tries to put his people on, and the braggadocios tracks that we all have come to expect from Fabolous. Baby don’t go, first time, I’m the man, and return of the hustle, could all tear up the airwaves and the club scenes. But a good album is more than just singles and club songs.
Despite his record exec molded tracklist Fab shows potential with “What Should I Do” featuring Lil Mo, as well as “Change up” Featuring Akon. In both of these tracks you get to see a serious side of Fab. On the track with Lil Mo, he takes out time to rap about something other than himself. The track shows the struggles of others through Fab spitting lyrics as if he were reading his own fan mail. At the end of the song he dedicates it to anyone going through a struggle with no one to talk to. Personally this shows a side of Fabolous I didn’t really know existed. In “Change up” he raps about how he has remained the same despite his new fount wealth, and how so many people in the game seem to change up after they get money. It’s a real song and will give you his perspective on people in the industry, and Akon does a great job on the Chorus. There are only two or three songs which I feel were definitely worth skipping. But it was nothing new and nothing overly impressive.
Conclusion “From nothing to something” is far from a bad album, it is actually pretty good in its own right, the songs are enjoyable and it has the potential to stay relevant for the entire summer and into the fall because of all the radio songs on it. But this is Fabolous 4th album, and outside of two songs he really shows no growth. Everybody loves a good collaboration, but if you have 18 songs on your album there is no reason, 16 of them should have someone featured on them, it makes you question his ability to make a good song by his self, or even a catchy hook. If you take out all of the Collaborations this album probably wouldn’t be worth mentioning. The truth is most of the songs were saved by the hot beats and the artist who were featured on the song, and it is that reason that instead of a 7 or an 8 this album gets a 6, after four albums you shouldn’t need other people to make your shit hot. This wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t all you. Try again.

Not really a Fab fan.But I got it.And I listen to it.And I Co-Sign on it's rating that you gave it.This is Fabolous 4th album ? And this how it is ? Thats a problem.
Also his whole album has features on every track..He doesn't even show he can shine by himself.
yea i disagree stopnetbangin, no1 cares if he can shine by himself, he already proved it on his other albums, ppl want to listen to great music with other people in it, i would get bored of listenin to the same rappers on every song by himself, YA DIGGGG
i was feelin this album ima give it a 8.prodution=8 lyrics=8 songs=7

This album wasn't good as his others, weak punchlines, subpar beats, too many guest appearances, meh lyrics.. I really only liked 3 or 4 songs, I agree with the rating.

i have heard the album its not that bad i`ll give it 7 out of 10 its mostly for the ladys but got 4 or 5 good street joints..best tracks 2(iam back fea red cafe) 3(change up fea akon) 7(dont play fea junior reid) 11(brooklyn fea jay z) 15( fea a whole bunch of niggaz)
personally i think this is Fab's worst album and this is coming from a Fab fan
It's funny cause I been saying this album was going to be wack. I said that shit months ago. Fabolous is a follower, he's afraid to be an individual. He thinks since the south is hot right now maybe he should come out with a southern single. No! An artist should always be themselves. And Fabolous is afraid to do it. That's why he will never be that big thing in hip hop, he had the potential to.
fabo is still ill man its ur opinion if u like it or not u shuldnt ave to read a dudes review n say dats its not a gud albulm
fab is still that nigga, i 've been wit'em since first album so i know he can hold his own so i ain't trippin'. the features gives him the extra push fo real, he's already proved to have solid material on albums and mixtapes so he probly chillin' on this one. i'm still bumpin' whole summer and year.

yall give it a 6 and i would say 8...Great cd! 4 sho!...maybe i should listen again and again and maybe it could be a classic
I truthfully thought this album was gonna be hot.
I listened to it before I heard the review and I agree completely. Its hot if you like everything thats out right now. But its just a average album from an above average artist. It really makes me question Fab.
I'm not playing the album again its really terrible...
I'd give it a 8/10. I can run through this whole album without skipping. lots of good songs are on this album like Brooklyn(even though Jay-Z kinda sucked), THis is family(Joe Buddens and Freck Billionaire ripped it up), First time, Change Up, Gangsta dont play, Yep I'm Back, What Should I Do. This album is definately bumpin in my iPod.
they were def right about the akon song being the best the first 3 songs are the real only good ones

album was straight disappointing. only like 4 good songs on the whole album and i was really hoping for it to be fiya too. change up, make me better, gangsta dont play, i'm the man and the bonus track are good. most the others sound like weak versions of songs already out and the beats are sorry

Its Ass
the album sound like u in the club or listenin to a compilation cause every song is like a banger that's crazy.
I guess reading comprehension isn't taught in schools anymore so I will help out the reviewer on this one. BTW .. hit me up for my Paypal info. I need me, Son
The rating he gave was 6/10 .. but the rating was based more on the hype and promise of the artist that HE failed to deliver.
Is the album worth getting yes.. is it the hottest new thing on the block. Hells No. which explains
"The truth is most of the songs were saved by the hot beats and the artist who was featured on the song, and it is that reason that instead of a 7 or an 8 this album gets a 6. After four albums you shouldn’t need other people to make your material hot. This wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t Fabulous"
Now is I had wrote the review I think I would have started out saying that and bringin it back to the idea of pretty good songs but not great.
We as consumers need.. HAVE to DEMAND QUALITY. Stop letting artist dumb-down they shit, bring it or stay on the corner with your boys and slang.
I just cop his shit today. This shit is fire!
I haven't heard it yet but I plan on gettin' it, I pretty sure its hot tho'.. cuz the 1st three singles are bangerz ya' feel me
i dont kno how this only got 6/10...this shit is his best album ever, even better than ghetto fabolous...the album reads like a book--everything goes smoothly into eachother...ne1 who hatin fuck em
This is much better than 6/10 maybe 7.5/10. It was decent much much better than Games ablum. Fab did the biz on this album he just needs to grow as an artist.

My 6/10 rating had everything to do with the fact that he's a veteran rapper and cant his album sounds like a Compilation. It has nothing to do with the hype... What Hype.....? For an established artist like Fabolous there is no reason you shouldn't be able to make a decent album without a million features... If I wanted a compilation I would've bought a soundtrack.. but if his album is good enough for you guys thats fine, I will not lower my standards you go ahead and listen to a medicore album
I though the Album was good But I think he sold hes soul to the south in a way just
to get record sales
Yeah he definitely sold his soul to the south! But other than that its a good album. Not gonna sell but a good album! Fabolous is one of the kings of this punchline shit! & to all the people that said he's wack! Dont listen to Wayne then cuz he gave wayne that punchline shit REAL TALK!
^^^ I mean the original Diamonds? Weezy and Fab both got that punchline shit down. Oh how I wish Weezy made it on the album
I usually don't do this... ha, OK i'm lyin'
Cuz these diamonds of mine/ just sparkle like wine
I'm easy to find/ in the dark or night time
I get so much attention from your eyes like signs
I'm... kushed out my mind/ patron shots with lime
My necklace is crime/ Damn that bitch fine
What that girl name/
I call my jeweler up and tell him make that girl a chain
I take that girl to Spain/ she can't pronounce a thang
And she got a girlfriend on the side like fangs
Her fetish is Lil' Wayne/ I'm bombin like Husein
And I'm that fire now swallow my butane
Weezy!
this album is soft and whack
Kinda feeling the same way now! After listening to it alot now it's actually not a great album for his 4th album! It's average!
IF YOU DONT WANNA BUY IT AND ALSO WANT TO HEAR IT THEN JUST DOWNLOAD IT FROM thastoop.com ITS A GOOD SITE, BUT YOU HAVE TO HAVE winrar to ujnpack the songs. Just hope that you are good with computers because im no gonna be helping people.
This aint Fab at his best but his verses is still FIRE he just put too many people on his cd tho....he keeps givin lil mo a track and then he does like four more female tracks which can't nobody say "u make me better" won't banging for a while.....But ey this album is still at leat a 7 outta 10...Fab's flow is one of the tightest he just shares the limelight too much on this album, look out for "I'm the Man" tho and "Change Up"
if yall niggas knew sumthin he said he was puttin alot of ppl on there and his first 3 albums prove that nigga is a legend in tha makin
Di album wuh kool, but aint be betta DAN ......T.I. VS T.I.P.
Mayne errybody stop ridin TI/TIP dick.. Weezy album drop next year and fab shit was crazy he ripped dat track Gangsta listen to da lyrics.. But i heard dat TI vs. TIP bullshit and umm dat shit sorry.. lol.. WHEN THE CARTER 3 DROP IN 2008 ITS A WRAP!
Didn't hear the whole album yet but nice to see brooklyn native fab doing his thing
In terms of production i agree, its about an 8- high quality beats. Lyrics wise tho i disagree, Loso's punchline are off the metaphorical charts. I cant tell on a line that i didnt have as a part of my IM name. Overall the album cud hav had some nicer songs, there are only about 6 that i must listen to, the others to me are album fillers. His choice in pickin singles are off, only Make me better deserved that, his others shud have been Joke's On you and Gangstas Dont Play
Fab did alrite I would buy it, heard it at a friends but Lil Wayne do better
got a thing for short dudes. haha i trashed tips height all over this website not even intentionally yall ppl just too easy to rag on
I type agree on the rating i got the ablum anything for B'klyn i'll support.Im a fab fan and he needs to step it up that's his problem. the fact of the matter is he's to comfortable in the space that he's in(Read a fab article).Lyrically he can be way better, great if he want to be the lyrics r there.but to me he's to scared to do that, so he's going to keep putting out cool i remember that summer type ablums.'Till he realize what he really can do.
7.5 atleast
im sorry but i give it a 7
fabolous tries to sound a lil southern in some songs and i hate when new york rappers do that shit
Fab is under-rated.We need to show him some love. The album was pretty good. I think he's pretty nice plus he's Dominican(which makes him even better).
DIZ HIZ DAMN BEST ALBUM YALL TRIPPIN. THAT OTHER SHIT WAZ AIGHT BACK A COUPLE YRS AGO. NOW HE'Z WAY BETTER. WIT A WHOLE NEW SWAGG AND TIGHT AZZ LYRICS.
FAB TIGHT HE BETTA THAN THE MAJORITY OF RAPPERS IN DA GAME-HOWEVA I DO THINK HE CAN DO BETTA
FAB MY NIGG
I wasnt diggin fab at first...i use 2 fink niggaz wack...when he was trynna be mase n jay at da sametime...but when i heard da album.. i changed my thoughts on a nigga ...album is serious ..sum peepz jus dun appreciate good music ....der only expect niggaz 2 to talk about shootin another nigga on every album dey release ....hes lyrical content is sick..flow is sick...punchlines n metaphor...wat else u want
