Young Jeezy goes at Nas and questions his street credibility.
THURSDAY DECEMBER 7, 2006
The interview starts off right enough with Jeezy questioning Lil Wayne’s comment about Jay-Z but when Monie Love starts pushing the topic about Hip-Hop being dead it seems to just put Jeezy over the edge. But you can’t really blame Jeezy for getting mad it seems like he’s not angry at Nas per se but if your an up and comming rapper and the quality of your music is being questioned what else can you do but get frustrated? Even though I myself am a big Nas fan I can’t help but question the title of that album. It seems to be fueling the start of a hip-hop war, with the south claiming the title is a shot at the music their making. What the hell ever happened the NASdaq: Dow Jones??

COMMENTS
Why she getting so amped? No wonder Jeezy is getting upset, she's riding Nas' nuts. This aint even a real beef, just do your songs, and fuck Nas.
"It's dead! It's dead!". Bitch is just starting drama.
HIP-HOP IS DEAD WHEN THE SOUTH IS ON TOP RIGHT? HIP-HOP IS DEAD WHEN 50 IS THE BIGGEST RAPPER FROM NEW YORK RIGHT? NAS SHOULD SHUT THE FUCK UP. NAS' LAST ALBUM WAS TRASH, I LIKE THE UNITY WITH HIM AND JAY BUT HE NEEDS TO STOP ACTING LIKE HE OWNS HIP-HOP...LET OTHER NIGGAZ GET A TURN, NAS HAD HIS REIGN ON TOP. IT'S A NEW ERA.
This is about to be the HipHop WWII
I do understand in a sense where she is coming from to state Hip Hop is dead. Shes stating Hip Hop is dead because she thinks everything should be the way it was in the past. She needs to understand as does Nas that this isnt 1990 to 1997 but 2006 into 2007. Whole new ball game out there in the record industry and the artists should know this as Jeezy does. Jeezy has all the right in this situation to take it offensive and defend himself. Everything she is basically stating demeans what he believes he is doing. He believes he is doing Hip Hop, and I agree he is. For her to state it isnt or that the genre is dead is just bullshit in every sense of it.
that lady is retarded, regardless of how nas fits into the scenario, she says that hip-hop doesn't have enough elements anymore. people like outkast, t.i. and ludacris just to name a few are talking about a whole lot more than bagging grams and "the struggle" in their music. Hip-hop is changed, different, but certainly not dead.
Shit, don't get mad Southerners...NAS and everyone else would'nt hint this type of shit if the majority of yall were making good music, A LOT OF THE SOUTH RAP IS LIKE JAY-Z SAYS "DISPOSABLE"...it's corny to an extent with basic lyrics and elementary punchlines...same shit played over and over and soooo predictable...step ya game up!!! with the exception of some.
Hip Hop is dead when wack lyrics and no talent get you on the radio. Nas can talk as much as he wants because he help build Hip Hop into what it is today. Now some of these new artist that are feeling themselves to much and going at legends may wanna chill because if Nas drops a diss like "Ether" on them, then they really will be on the street all night looking for a job. There careers would be ova quick.
what monie love was saying is that the majority of ppl putting out hip hop right now are only talking about the following**** CANDYPAINT, PATRON, GRILLZ, TIPPIN DOWN, SIPPIN LEAN, RIMS,LEAN WIT IT ROCK WIT IT, POP WIT IT, SNAPING FINGERS, WALK IT OUT, TOOL ON DECK, GETTIN HEAD AND OTHER SEXUAL ACTS, POPPIN THE TRUNK, BEING IN THE CLUB AND TRAPPIN, (IN NO OTHER SENSE OF THE WORD EITHER, NOT HUSTLING NOT SLINGING BUT JUST TRAPPIN)...these can all be rapped with no problem but nowadays it's the ONLY thing rapped, OVER and OVER and OVER again, it's cliche meaning it's said till its over done and played out just to make hits because EVERYBODYS BANDWAGONING! what happened to originality and substance and different beats that don't have snaps, lol.
I'm gonna have to put it like this. This is my belief. When Nas say "Hip Hop is dead", he's not literally sayin hip hop is at an end. It's his opinion on how he feels about the industry and its direction. I believe Nas is just being real with his belief. And I respect that. I'd rather buy an album about an artist bein real than an artist being fake as shit on that Milly Vanilly shit and just out there for the money. When you put ya heart on paper or wax for the fact of lettin people know how you feel..whatz goin on around you..what it is you see..etc. That's hip hop to me. As far as you just makin commercial records just for dinero and all you rap about is cars, ice, and females wit asses, a real artist will see through that. So with that been said if that's all you goin to rap about don't call it hip hop...call it entertainment. I'm loving the different styles of hip hop whether its a Nas, Ludacris, Outkast, Lupe, Kanye, or fuckin E-40. I just don't see how some dudes can bite the hand that feeds them. Not saying that Jay-Z put food on these dudes plates but he did help put hip hop to a level most critics thought it would not hit. From the Grammy's to endorsements. To me dudes goin at Jay is like Jay goin at Biggie, Pac, Run DMC, Biz, Grandmaster Flash, NWA and all the other artists who paved a way to where hip hop is now. Hip hop is a life style and if everybody lived the same way the shit would be boring. You know hip hop is not dead..I know hip hop is not dead..Nas know hip hop is not dead. It's just an opinion that has been taking the wrong way and dudes going at it like Nas is challenging them. Grown men at that. That's kinda funny to me.
wow, that was funny. i think what Nas means by his title is that it is so comercial now it isnt funny. not that its a bad thing. from some thing that was suppose to be a breeze through like farmer jumbers. it is the biggest promoting machine in the world. hiphop sales any and every thing today. ge back to it being dead it isnt very creative any more. the south was being hated but they only took it back to the party scene and the clubs. much like the old hip hop. all the beefing is an example of it being dead. every one worrying about others sales and if they street. "i been to jail and he never has, he has no cred" "i know guys in the fed, who you know?" that aint cool to me. keep the street stories in your raps and let those say what ever. get money.
^--- True.
The term hip-hop is dead has nothing to do with what coast your from. Niggas need to stop taking shit so personal. I notice a lot of so called hard ass rappers sounding like bitches when shit is taken out of context. The way I see it the term means that the way the music is received is not the same. People don't buy records the same way they did ten years ago. The internet is killing hip hop - bootlegging and mix cd's is killing hip hop. Right now the days of big labels or independent labels having several artist going multi-platinum at the same time is over. The culture will never die but the originality to the music has to comeback. There will always be ignorant cats spittin on the mic. Just like it will always be someone nice spittin as well. The difference between now and ten years ago is that each cat had there own style and wasn't trying immulate another motherfuckah. Now the cats I hear today don't have any respect for the craft and no originality except a selected few. I love hip hop to death but the shit is killing my ears lately. How many motherfuckas can you shoot in one day? How many fuckin birds can you flip in a week? How many hoes can you fuck at one time? The crazy part is that most of my music is gangsta as shit but there are times when I want to hear Mos Def / Common / Kayne / Talib Kweli / Roots / Dialate People / Dead Prez. I have hundreds of CD's but the last 5 years the amount I have bought has gotten smaller and smaller.
Who the fuck is this bitch. She was makin no sense. She was gettin live with Jeezy for no reason. She need to keep her little stupid ass comments to herself. Dumb bitch.
If Nas think hip-hop is dead let him think that. It's no reason to get your blood pressure up Jeezy, keep making music and gettin this fucking money ya heard me!
^^^^^^you know, jeezy is not going to read this^^^^^^^^^ Nas never said the south is why Hip Hop is dead, it like an old saying "if the jacket fits, put it on", why you think the south mad? cus they know they the ones killing Hip Hop, Nas didnt even have to say it, they fell into their own trap. but i still dont like Monie love's way of saying things, even though i agree with her, she need to show some respect.
but did you hear what Jeezy said?? he only in it for the money, basically saying fuck the art form of Hip Hop, thats why Hip Hop is Dead.If i was from the i would be mad, not a Nas, i would be mad at our Rap artist for giving the south a bad name, that includes T.I., Ludacris was always trash, the only true south dudes i respect is Scarface and outkast ,Pimp C is real, but he rap about the same bullshit-
At last someone took the words outta my mouth. Shout out to Tone Touch and Ramadez,
I listened to and called in to the radio station live that day. It's crazy how outta context things get when someone's feelings get hurt.
Moni was in the right for stating what she was "Trying" to state. Key word is trying... She couldnt even finish what she was saying because he kept getting all emotional. If you're an "entertainer" there's nothing wrong with that. I guess he couldn't handle it. Meaning he must've felt a lil guilty.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not bashing Jeezy... He "entertains" me when I'm in the mood to relive my past...(meaning my time doing what I was doing)...
But NEVER bite the hand that fed or helped prepare the food that feeds you.
You're not on the Block anymore so whether Nas ever was or not is irrelevant. We know you hustled and sold drugs...ok... you're not on the block anymore right? Of course not. You're now trying to secure endorsement deals. You're now trying to incorporate your name in households...fashion, jewelry, wine and liquor, production etc etc...
What you dont realize is that none of this wouldn't be possible if it wasnt for so called "commercial" rappers like NAS and Jay etc. etc. If it weren't for their and other rappers' being "commercial", then most of these rappers would still be 1 dimensional and only making money from rapping...and let's face it... some of them even admit themselves that they can't (Jeezy)...and that they only want the money!
It's WE that accpet that...
As for the commenter questioning who the "bitch" was that was getting "live" with or interviewing Jeezy? Wow, if I really have to answer that question for you... it just goes to show that hip-hop probably wasnt something that you were apart of growing up. I'm an 80's baby! I was born in 80! Thankfully I was able to take part in hip hop in it's prime.
Back to the answer to that little riddle... Her name Is Moni Love... she had a major hit back in the days of hip hop called "Moni in the Middle". She was a round with Latifah, Mc Lyte, Roxanne, Salt N Pepa and other female Mc's that paved the way for a lot of these "entertainers"... But that's neither here nor there!
To echo something that Ramadez was saying about purchasing cd's.. I used to be the same way. I Still have tapes... Raekwon's Purple "only built for cuban linx" tape! DAmnn!
But the quality of music has gone down completely, the creativity, the effort to captivate us is gone... It makes no sense buying a cd when u already know what's going to be said on 11 outta 12 of the tracks...
"bird-flippin, titty lickin, bitch strippin, Crys Sippin, Money gettin', Hoe-Pimpin, King! LMAO!
Thanx to all of our fore-father that made it all possible... U will definitely never be forgotten.... Especially not with the Bullshits that out now!
nas sayin hip hop is dead is like sayin the south is killing it because thats all you hear on the radio.. but thats also disrespecting people like Weezy, Ti, Trick people like dat thats been out for a while and help to put a new spin on hip hop...The North is just mad cause they records cant get no airplay and the south is taking over everything...fuck the north
Wow, for a second I was actually understanding where u were coming from.. People like TI, Luda, Trick Daddy, 8ball&Mjg, SCARFACE all do their thing...
But for you to say some dumb shit like Fuck the North? wow... just takes us back to the Bullshit that got our GREATEST rappers killed.
If u can't think outside the "box" as far as Nas' cd title... then maybe you deserve to feel some type of way... as it was stated earlier...
"Niggas need to stop taking shit so personal. I notice a lot of so called hard ass rappers sounding like bitches when shit is taken out of context. The way I see it the term means that the way the music is received is not the same. "
Once again thanx Ramadez lol. Wow!

With that being said Be Eazy!
To all the SOUTH listen up. I'm from up top and i'm sure most of you if not all could care less. Jersey to be exact - Newark(Brick City)/East Orange(Illtown) to be even be more exact. We don't care where good music comes from. We don't hate the South nor are we jealous that you guys are putting it down with this music shit. We appluade and respect you for the good work. The north buys and plays any and all things hot. No matter if it's the strip joint, club, bar or the car. If your shit is hot we will play it. To all those taking shit personal and coming at cats for saying real shit. You need to ease up and relax. At the end of the day it's not that serious. I wonder if cats get this upset if the white man calls you nigger to your face? To Wiz101 keep bangin out those comments. Stay up fellas!
First of all, I'm a radio station owner in the south. Mississippi to be exact. Only 31 years old and I've been lovin' "HIP HOP" since day one!!! This whole HIP HOP IS DEAD thing is just a way to get people to talk about the NAS album...That being said, no matter how old you are or where you are from HIP HOP will always change. It won't stay the same. If it does it'll die off. NO COAST OWNS A MONOPOLY ON IT!!!! It's not the SOUTH that's running the game it's the people. HIP HOP IS ALWAYS ABOUT THE PEOPLE. You can't get mad at rappers (southern, western, eastern, whatever) for giving the people what they want to hear. When the West Coast rappers were in demand all the gangster rappers got the spotlight. However, they had alot of LYRICAL rappers still doin' their thing at the time. Pharcyde, Aceyalone, Funkdoobiest, and that's just to name a few. I am from the South so maybe I hear of the more lyrical rappers from the south more so than people from other regions. But, if hip hop is dead it's because as a people we stop demanding more creativity from our artist. Not only in the south, but let's face it, they have a WHOLE OF BULLSH!T in the east and west and midwest too. THERE'S ONE THING THAT NOBODY'S NOTICED THOUGH:
R & B AIN'T HITTING LIKE IT USED TO BE EITHER!!!!
NEITHER IS ROCK
NEITHER IS COUNTRY
NEITHER IS JAZZ!!!!
THE WHOLE MUSIC MAKING PROCESS IS F**ked up because everybody thinks they can do it!!!
MARINATE ON THAT...
TABARI
PEACE TO ALL.
I'M FEELING ALL THE COMMENTS EXCEPT FOR THE DISRESPECTFUL ONES, EITHER WITH THOSE CATS BEING FROM THE SOUTH OR TOO YOUNG TO UNDERSTAND. FIRST OF ALL, LET'S DEAL WITH THE INTERVIEW....
MONIE, WAS GETTING HEATED AND OFFENDED & JEEZY WAS GETTING OFFENDED. MONIE IS OFFENDED BECAUSE SHE'S FROM THE "GOLDEN ERA" OF HIP HOP. HISTORICALLY, EVERYONE AGREES WHEN THAT ERA WAS AND IT IS THE VERY ERA THAT PAVED THE GOLDEN ROAD FOR THE BROTHERS & SISTERS YOU HEAR NOW. SHE RAN WITH THE NATIVE TONGUES (TRIBE CALLED QUEST, QUEEN LATIFAH, JUNGLE BROTHERS, DE LA SOUL, ETC) AND THIS WAS A PROMINENT TIME FOR HIP HOP. SHE WAS NEW, SHE WAS YOUNG AND SHE WAS OURS. REMEMBER, CORPORATE DIDN'T WANT TO HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH US THEN. THEY PROTESTED OUR MUSIC, THEY ASSOCIATED IT WITH EVERYTHING RELEVANT TO IGNORANT REBELLION. BUT IT WAS OUR BABY. THEY WERE THE ROSA PARKS, THE MARTIN LUTHER KINGS, THE MALCOLM X'S OF HIP HOP. THEY PAVED WHAT EXIST TODAY. BUT MANY OF THEM AREN'T EVEN 50 YET. THESE PIONEERS ARE WITH IN OUR TANGIBLE REACH AND IN OUR PRESENT LIFETIME. THEY'VE BEEN ASSAULTED, ATTACKED, ROBBED, FACED RACISM, REJECTION, ETC FROM EVERY PARALLEL IN THOSE DAYS, FOR A JEEZY, A WEEZY, A T.I.EEZY TO BE ABLE TO MANIFEST IN THE MAGNITUDE THAT THEY CAN. IT IS WHAT IS IS.
NOW WHY I UNDERSTAND JEEZY'S OFFENSE, BECAUSE IT'S A STAB IN THE HEART FOR SOMEONE TO TELL YOU WHILE YOU'RE ON THE COURT PLAYING THE SPORT, THE GAME IS OVER. IT HURTS. ESPECIALLY WHEN IT'S COMING FROM SOMEONE U LOOKED UP TO IN YOUR DAYS OF THE AUDITION LINE (NOT LITERALLY). BUT IT IS WHAT IT IS. LIKE MONIE SAID, IT WASN'T TOWARDS JEEZY CAUSE HE'S RESPECTED. IT'S TOWARD THOSE WHO JUST CAN'T SEEM TO GAIN LONGEVITY.
A BRIEF HISTORY: REMEMBER WHEN COMMON AND ICE CUBE WENT HEAD TO HEAD OVER COMMON'S COMMENT BACK IN 94' WHEN HE SAID ONCE HIP HOP WENT WEST SHE BECAME FUCKED UP AND NOW ROLLING WITH GANGSTER BITCHES (NOT IN QUOTE). COMMON WAS IMPLYING THEN HER DEATH. 12 YEARS AGO!!! SO KNOCK IT OFF SENSITIVE ASSES. DE LA SOUL SAID HIP HOP WAS DEAD LONGER THAN THAT AGO. AND IT WASN'T NECESSARILY US DESTROYING HER, IT WAS CORPORATE WHO BEGAN TO HAVE AN INTEREST IN HER. ONCE HE KNEW PEOPLE WERE LISTENING, HE WANTED THE GANGSTER, GRIMY MUSIC TO TAKE OVER...AND SO IT DID. THEN THE EAST BECAME GUN ORIENTED (NO LONGER A VARIETY) AND HAD KOOL G RAP ON THE CEELO 4,5,6 ALBUM GUN TOTING, GROUP HOME HITTING PEOPLE'S MOMS IN THE HEAD WITH A METAL PIPE (IN QUOTE), ONYX THROWIN THEIR GUNZ IN THE AIR, MOBB DEEP TALKIN ABOUT KILLING SOMEONE OVER THEIR HERRING BONE CHAIN WHEN HE VISITED HIS GIRL IN THE PROJECTS, SMIF - N - WESSUN'S ILL, BROOKLYN GRIME. BUT THAT'S WHAT CORPORATE WANTED ONCE THEY KNEW THE AUDIENCE WAS EASY TO BE INFLUENCED AND LARGER. AND THAT'S OUR OWN FAULT. IF ANYONE'S NYC'S. THE LEADERS OF THE OLD AND NEW SCHOOL ALLOWED CORPORATE TO KILL OUR CULTURE.
A CULTURE THAT WAS BASED ON THESE ELEMENTS AND HOW WE CALLED IT HIP HOP. ONCE MORE THAN ONE OF THESE ELEMENTS ARE MISSING, IT'S SAFE TO START CALLING HER RAP:
SUBWAYS, GRAFITTI TAGS, DJ'S, VINYL, HOUSE PARTIES, CLUB PARTIES, BREAK DANCING, NEW DANCES, BATTLES, MC'S, STREET MONEY CATS, TURF GANGS, BUILDINGS, URBAN ENVIRONMENT, POVERTY, STRUGGLE, RACIAL DIVERSITY, FASHION, RELIGION IMPLEMENTED (HISTORICALLY ISLAM), RAP-A-THONS, ETC.
THOSE WERE THE ELEMENTS OF HIP HOP. THOSE ELEMENTS WERE THE FOUNDATION FOR WHY IT HAD TO BE GIVEN A NAME. BECAUSE IT WAS A WAY OF LIFE. BACK IN THE DAY WHEN HIP HOP WAS ALIVE (BECAUSE SHE IS DEAD AND IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE SOUTH, THAT'S WHAT THEY'RE MAD ABOUT. SHOT OUT TO OUTKAST -94 CATS-), YOU CAN GO TO A NWA CONCERT, GET IN THE CAR AND LISTEN TO A X-CLAN AND PUBLIC ENEMY RAP ATTACK AND GO HOME AND GET LAID BY 2-LIVE-CREW. THERE WAS VARIETY....SIMPLY THAT WHAT MONIE WAS SAYING. THAT VARIETY NO LONGER EXISTS. AND JEEZY, CAMERON AND MANY OF OTHER CATS HAVE MADE REFERENCE TO IT HAVING TO DO WITH THE MONEY. FOR THAT VERY REASON IS WHY A BROTHER LIKE JAY CAN MOVE UP, A REASON WHY NAS IS LEGEND AND MORE THAN ENUFF REASON WHY THESE VERY SAME DUDES ARE PISSED. THEY'RE UNESTABLISHING THEMSELVES IN HISTORY. YOUR FAULT YOUR BAD. IT WAS OUR FAULT IN THE NORTH AND WEST COAST WHY WE LOST HIP HOP, IT'S THE SOUTH'S FAULT (SINCE ITS YOUR TURN) FOR WHY YOU'RE SHOOTING A WOMAN WHO'S ALREADY DEAD.
A CIVIL WAR IN HIP HOP FOR WHAT? THE PIONEERS ARE STILL YOUNG ENUFF TO COMPETE WITH THE YOUNG AND NEW CATS CAUSE HIP HOP IS STILL YOUNGER HERSELF. BUT A CIVIL WAR IN HIP HOP FOR WHAT? THE COUNTRY MUSIC AWARDS DON'T HAVE TENNESSEE ATTACKING KENTUCKY ARTISTS. IT'S ONLY US. AND YOU WONDER WHY THESE PUNK ASSES DIDN'T STEP TO MICHAEL RICHARDS. CAUSE MAYBE WE REALLY ARE NIGGERS.
PEACE TO THE GODS AND EARTHS, NYC/NJ/PHILLY PIONEERS, SCARFACE, THREE SIX MAFIA, EIGHTBALL MJG, GHETTO BOYZ, OUTKAST, LUDA, UGK AND THE ENTIRE WEST COAST. THAT'S IT FAM.
~SEEASIA
...Money destroys everything...think about that.
PEACE TO ALL. ME BEING A TRUE OLD SCHOOL HIP HOP HEAD FROM NY, I WAS AROUND FOR HIP HOP WHEN IT WAS BORN AND JUST LIKE EVERYTHING ELSE IN THIS WORLD HIP HOP IS EVOLVING, TRUE IT IS NOT AT IT'S ORIGINAL ESSENCE LIKE THE EARLY 80'S WHERE A LYRICAL CONTENT WAS OF IMPORTANCE (RAKIM, KRS-0NE). TODAY HIP HOP'S FOCUS IS MOSTLY ABOUT WHAT YOU HAVE, HOW MUCH IT COST, WHAT CHIC YOU HAVE, GRILLS, AND EVERYONE KNOWS THAT. TODAY'S HIP HOP, MOSTLY THAT IS, CATERS TO WHAT THE YOUTH HAVE TODAY, AND TRUST ME I AM NOT KNOCKING IT BECAUSE IT IS PUTTING FOOD ON SOMEBODY'S PLATE. MY THING IS WHERE EVER YOU ARE FROM AND WHATEVER HIP HOP YOU LIKE OR DON'T LIKE, JUST BE THANKFUL THAT HIP HOP IS STILL HERE.
NAS WAS SAYING THAT HIP HOP WAS DEAD IS BECAUSE BACK IN THE DAY IN HIP HOP LYRICS WERE TRULY JUST AS IMPORTANT AS THE BEAT, BUT NOW THE HOOK SEEMS TO BE THE BIGGEST PART ALONG WITH THE BEAT. IT SEEMS THAT PEOPLE ALWAYS CRITICIZE WHAT THEY DON'T KNOW, BEFORE BEING CRITICAL ABOUT HIS ALBUM TITLE, RESEARCH WHAT HE IS TALKING ABOUT.
I LOVE HIP HOP, I WILL LOVE HIP HOP UNTIL MY LAST BREATH.
BIG MO
No one place can dominate forever. I am from the South and watched for years Eastcoast people trash our music. The whole time we were playing Jay Nas Wu-tang and everyone else not knocking what anyone was doing, so why is Hip-Hop dead, because its a Southern movement. Check your history we been doing hip-hop, and I mean real lyrics. Ghetto Boys, UGK, 8ball and MJG this is early 90s, so to be honest we just as deep in the game as anyone else. I like Jay and Nas but truth be told people can know when to not call it quits. Jordan came back and had a harsh welcome back from the young cats like Kobe and Iverson. Let Hip Hop grow Eastcoast folks all regions should be able to shine. Hip Hop aint dead it just grew to include the entire nation.
Outkast, Killer Mike, TI, Jeezy, The Clipse, Chamillionaire, and a list of other southern cats are adding their own chapters to Hip Hop. Its more than Lil Jon get crunk music booty shaking music. Stop being so closed minded we all aint from NYC. Down here we like getting crunk and bumping screw we got lyrics that we feel.Yall feel Nas Jay and others like them because you can relate to them, well we relate to our folks their twang, slang, and subject matter reflects the South. So if you dont understand it or feel it thats ok, but dont hate. I would hate to see another Civil War "North v South" because its more than enough room for all. But dont get it twisted right now it is the South's time, put out something new it might be your time again.
young jeezy is exactly what nas is talking about, this dudes makes that same damn songs over and over again,"trapstar" and "i luv it" are the same fucking songs(chorus and all).the south have always had these runs since Master P, but like Master P they will fade back in to oblivion, it just taking longer than usually. And it's not like any of them are selling major units,it's just they are all over BET,MTV, and the radio, outkast is there biggest seller, and andre3000 had to sing in a lime green suit for them to sell 10 million worldwilde, most of them don't even go gold(dem franchise boyz,d4L,slim thug, etc. The east is just not putting out as many new artist and the old artist are being lazy.50 Cent is the biggest seller of anyone in hip hop with the number one selling rap albums of 2004&2005 with both "get rich or die tryin" and "the massacre" going diamond(10 millions copies or more), but New Yorker aren't feeling him.at least Jay-Z has the highest first week sells this year with 608,000 copies and is a week away from platinum, but the rest of these dudes need to get on there grind.
But Bro The Thang Is That These Mufucka's Is Steady Tryna Bring The Past Back Man,
This IS 2006 Niggas Is Out In Da Street Tryna Make A Livin Day Aint Tryna Here No Hip-Hop Is Dead Shit Niggas Obviously Lik'n Wat The Here. Its Depends On Wat Type Of Nigga You Are To Have Ah Opinon On Dat Cuz Im Da Type Of Nigga Dat Aint Tryna Here Sum Nigga Who Still Liv'n In Da Past
Then She Jump'n On Him He Aint Even Tryna Make No Comment About Da Sititation.
I listen to the interview and I cant blame Jeezy for getting hype. If you have a craft, a job, or something you do well then an outsider comes and bad mouth what you are doing you would catch feelings too. People trip me out a few years ago we where saying Nas feel off, remember The Firm, Nas had the Mafia image and sound Nas Escobar, come on. I am not hating I like Nas's music but he had some questionable joints, Oh che wolly and the song with Ginuwine I guess that was real Hip Hop lol. On the Eastcoast yall didnt get back on the Nas bandwagon until he came at Jay and put out Stillmatic. Lets be real Jeezy is new, yall to the mainstream, but you cant come at him for his lyrics and content when Jay and Big basicly rapped about the same content. Stop the region hating South we doing it and growing and more diverse than most.
I dont see people backing Mos Def and Talib Kweli, who I think have the purest realest lyrics on the eastcoast. Jay is tight in his style like Nas is in his, but Jeezy is coming from his own angle, let the brother grow. And I got to get this off my chest stop thinkin that real hip hop is New York only look into the movement from coast to coast. If it was not for the west NWA, Ice T, and Death Row rapping streets and drugs and Rap-A-Lot and UGK saying they got a pocket full of stones rappers like Big and Jay would not have the room they needed to rap their stories, show respect, listening to someone outside your region, and you will see hip hop aint dead and in the words of Jeezy "Thats real talk I'm telling you Man". South Carolina 843 get ready.
I Can Dig It South Kak Most Of Dez Niggaz That Are On Dis Site Listen To Most Mainstream Datz Y Day Cant Feel Jeezy
And Look At Niggas Like Dipset They Talk Bout The Same Shit So Wat Day Sayin

Yo, all of you cats just understand, these niggaz doing music arent making a third of what they used to make due to bootlegging, hell this broad at my job had jayz kingdom come like 2 weeks before it came out. I was like wtf. Now my brother came by today with Nas new album. This next line is dedicated to all Bitch Niggaz online that dont understand the music game, real niggaz this aint for you...These niggaz do shit to pump up their album sales. Anyone of you answer this question. NAME 1, ONLY 1 artist that started beefin with someone, and didnt have a album releasing right after? Hell man, come on fellas, even the label talked Whitney Houston into divorcing Bobby for resigning her for 10 million! While you catz internet beefin (that shitz so funny) these rap niggaz probrably sitting in a living room playing madden laughing about how much money they go make from that bullshit!
ya really think about this bitch just trying to get listeners on her show. she know hip hop had to evolve to get th whole world listening and i dont think nas or jeezy should even fucking start nutin cause they on top of the game now. still dont know why nas signed with jigga but thats another story
I AM BORN & RAISED IN THE SOUTH & THERE ARE JUST I FEW ARTIST I THINK ARE HIP HOP ARTIST. OUTCAST AND SCARFACE AND THATS AS LONG AS THE LIST IS.YA THE GAME HAS CHANGED....FOR THE WORST!!!MOST OF THE MUSIC THAT COMES FROM BELOW THE MASON DIXIE LINE IS WHAT I CALL RAP.JEZZY IS RAP! WHAT I DEFINE "RAP" IS YOUR WHOLE ALBUM CONTAINS THUGGERY,DISRESPECTING WOMEN,BLING,RIDING 22'S,AND LAST BUT NOT LEST DRUG SALEING.NONE OF THAT SYMBOLIZES HIP HOP.JEZZY TALKED ABOUT STREET CRED,PAC HAD MADD CRED AND HE ALSO TRIED TO UPLIFT US.ONCE YOU GET OFF THE STREETS WITH SUCCESS IN MUSIC,YOUR NEXT ALBUMS SHOULD BE ABOUT INVESTING IN ITEMS THAT EARN YOU MORE MONEY NOT LOSE AFTER ITS BOUGHT.JEZZY KNOWS HE DOESNT REP THE CULTURE CAUSE HE GOT VEXED.IT IS REALLY SAD THAT WE AS A PEOPLE ARE BLINDED TO WHAT "RAP" IS DOING TO OUR YOUTH.IF READING THIS & YOU STILL ARE CONFUSED ABOUT "RAP" AND HIP HOP,TURN ON THE RADIO.IF THE SONGS YOU HEAR,HAVE BEEN PLAYED 5 TIMES IN 2 HRS. IT MOST LIKELY "RAP". FOOD FOR THOUGHT JUST CAUSE YOUR LOCAL STATION SAYS HOME OF HIP HOP & R&B DOESNT MAKE IT TRUE!HIP HOP MAY NOT BE DEAD YET BUT ITS HEADING TOWARDS THE ICE AGE.BIG UP TO THE ROOTS CREW,NAS TALIB,MOS,COMMON,WU-TANG AND OTHERS KEEPING THE TRUE CULTURE ALIVE.......
SouthKak ,Jay-Z,Biggie,Big Pun,Nas,and Big L,may have had common themes in there music, but they all have three things "Young jeezy" doesn't have, lyrical skills, there own flow and there own style. The rappers I mention above rap about more than just material things, they painted vivid story of life in the ghetto, making money, evil, sin, etc.Young Jeezy formula is to change around a few words in one of his songs, drop a Jay-Z line, and say yeaaaaaaah.Sadly, people buy this as new material. There is no difference between sorthern rapper like Young Jeezy,Rick Ross,Young Dro,etc. You will hear the same lyrics, same flow, sometimes over the same beat, but it will be sold to you as a new hot shit for all the kiddies to go copp.Because that is where the market is, only children and people with child like minds would spend there money on the same song over and over again. And N.W.A,Ice T, and those other guys giving big and jay room to rap their stories is a joke, guys like Kool G Rap,Schoolly D out in philly, and the Queensbridge oldheads had claim to that style way before any of those dudes.N.W.A, may have made it mainstream, but if not for the east, they wouldn't have the opportunity to rap at all.
This is an argument that can have no ending depending on who you like and listen to. I hear people say folks don’t have lyrics, ok I will not lie a lot of or Southern Rappers need to improve, but the ones down here with rhymes are not the ones with videos and radion radio songs.. The Young Jocs type cats here in the South are the ones people wanna here. Think about this who really buys cds, makes videos popular on BET and MTV, and really listens to mainstream radio; don’t hurt your head figuring this out lol.
There are so many cats down here with real lyrics with real flows, but when people think Southern Music they are looking for a few types of cats. As for Jeezy he has a flow that tells stories in his own ways, and to be honest his mixtapes have hotter tracks than his albums. Big, Jay, and Nas all have similar styles to me, you can call it the East Coast flow if you want, a bunch of complex metaphors and similes don’t automatically make you a tight lyricist. And to be really real since everybody is talking about money, women, cars, drugs, and guns I don’t care how clever a way you say it if those are your only subject matters you are not offering anything. Every Jay, Nas, and Biggie songs were not classics. I love Southern Hip Hop I love that we are finally got shine, but I hate how they over look substance for shine. It happens every time. When Puffy and Bad Boy were hot a lot of music coming out the East had that Bad Boy sound, and I knew there were cats who had more to offer, but the masses that buys the cds dictate what type of artist and sounds are hot. The same goes for the West and Midwest, whatever artist comes out and sells labels run looking for the next copy cat. Nelly sells here comes Chingy. Gangsta rap sells and now all West Coast music is pinned Gangsta rap. I know every rapper down here in the South were not all Dope Boys on the corner in the trap, and for the one’s who were over time you have to develop and offer something new. Trick even ventured out and gave us Thug Holiday. I think T.I is a good example over time his albums and lyrical content have continued to grow and develop..
So in closing, as long as the people who are real rap/hip hop lovers are downloading and bootlegging get use to never hearing good music again. Get the mixtapes and go to underground sources, because as long as suburban wanna be thugs, adolescent girls, and little kids are the major buying force behind cd sells get use to TRL style hip hop. And since those of us who love rhymes, however they flow, keep bickering over if you don’t flow like this you aint a lyricist, if you outside the East you aint a lyricist, or any other bull we cant and wont bring about any change to the musical landscape. I will leave yall with this thought, “What ever songs your little sister or brother think are good songs, those will be the songs you hear all the time on the radio, “Now let it rain and clear that mess out” Ha ha
THyts Wat I Mean About Liv'n In Da Past That Was They Time Now It Don Matter Wat They Thank Is Music Itz The Younger Niggas
A South Kak How Old Is U
23 so I grew up with this. I didnt know the KRS-Ones, Kool G Raps, and other people like that. I got into rap with UGK, 8ball and MJG, and Ghetto Boys. I was lovin Outkast and Goodie Mobb when they put the South on the national level. Stayed following Cash Money and No Limit because they had young niggas my age rapping. Got crunk when Three Six showed how we Tear the clubs up. Was feeling T.I. when he first came out because he step the lyric Down South up. I was bobbing my head to the flow and stories Scarface told in his raps. This is my Hip Hop Souther as a plate of fish and grits. Thats how it is suppose to be for cats where ever they from they grow up on their hip hop and rap.
lol southern rappers that need to improve : anybody who's hook is the fuckin steps to a whack ass dance, and who's song have no lyrical content. (get crunk club bangas mostly!)
Nas aint sayin dat hip hop is dead becuz of da south, if ya'll listen and read any interviews 4rm nas he explains da situation, wat he is saying is dat Hip Hop is dead because the concept isnt da same anymore, there's not alotta originality and theres a new revival of hip hop which means theres a new form to this type of music and everything that dies has a 2nd coming, there fore ya'll need 2 pay attention and think b4 ya'll hate, Nas is a deep cat and there's always an alternate side to wateva he talks about so alotta dudes dont understand him.
jeezy should of slap that bitch, what the fuck she's gettin mad at him for. She was basically sayin to this nigga face in a way that you are responsible for this shit. Hip-hop is not the way it was, keyword "WAS", this is a new age new feel. Music does has it different origins, i have respect for NAS AND JAY-Z, but sayin hip-hop is like downin the new generation which i'm part of. Honestly, back to the main point; Jeezy did good by just walkin out because maybe it was that time of month and hormone problems her flippin' at this nigga was uncalled for, she's was tryin to put that type of weight on one person.
youngswizz, did you just say he should have "slap that bitch".I bet he would have score points with your dumb ass for something ass disgusting and pathetic as hitting a woman.Let me guess, your a third grade dropout who takes baths once a week and has your hair in dred because you don't like to wash it.Monie love was apart of HipHop when there was no money to be made. She was one of the early HipHop heads trying to advance the culture, so if she feel, some non-lyrical,same song making retard, is bringing HipHop down, she has every right to let it be known. You say it a "new age new feel", but this "new age new feel" will send HipHop into the same abyss as Rock-n-Rock.
To SouthKak I Was Fina Say I feel Were You Com'n From
But All Im Sayn Is All Wat The Fuck Day Want Us To Rap About If The Shit That They Den Already Heard.Day Want Us To Be Like Big Or Jay O Pac Or Big L Or Mc Lyte Or Krs-One, Hell No I No None Of These Rappers Are Going To Rap Like Sum Otha Nigga They Go Create They Own Style

LOL! EVIL_DRE
All these Artists getting their Boxers in a Jumble over another Artist's Album Title. How Insecure and ignorant are some of them really are? The Title is doing just what he wanted it to do, create controversey! and you jackasses just following suit to what he predicted. Nas Album title provokes thought but to the shallow mind the title would seem offensive especially if your not intellectually inclined to understand what DUKE is sayin. If Were not talking about How Laffy your Taffy is you can't understand, That's why it's dead. The south is finally getting there burn and their Dumbing the Game down almost insulting the art Form with Hickory Dickery Rhymes and 2nd grade Hooks. It's painful to listen too. NOT ALL the Artists are gabbage about 96% of them need the cords pulled in the studio though. But there moving units and feeding families off it so why not create the BS and sell it??! YOUR KILLING THE ART KIDS, put some damn thought in your RAPS, and pay HOMAGE you ungrateful muva*&$^$^(@! We Created this SHIT, thats right HIP HOP was not born down south. Respect and Pay Homage is all Im saying, and don't get big cause you move some units, your eating can always be minimized.
Shit, someone on here actual gets it, you get props from me on that one Don Mega G.And if hiphop had been born in the south,it would be already finish, how was anyone going to continue marketing ebonics laced lyrics over bouncy beats and niggas shuckin-n-jiven.Sooner or later people would have gotten sick of it and move on to the next hot thing out.I hear dudes on this site saying Nas is wack,Jay-Z is wack, and dudes like young jeezy and lil wa
