Twista who was scheduled along with artists such as Ne-Yo, Kenna, Kat DeLuna, The Dey, Single File and Kevin Michael were announced as the headliners of the free McDonald’s Live tour. But on July 28th Mcdonalds announced that the rapper was canceled as the headlining act for the August 7 date because of his lyrical content.
“McDonald’s USA made the decision following concerns raised about the artist’s controversial lyrics,” McDonald’s said in a statement. “Although we respect free speech and artistic expression, we do not condone or perpetuate derogatory language”.
The restaurant giant now seeks a headlining act to replace Twista on the August 7 date in Chicago.
The McDonald’s Live Tour wraps Sept. 25 in Austin, Texas and is expected to draw thousands at each show.
