Ever since winning their Oscar for the song “It’s Hard Out Here For a Pimp” from the Hustle and Flow soundtrack, Three Six Mafia have been on the move, and preparing a new album a new process.
Titled “Last 2 walk”, Juicy J and Dj Paul spoke to Billboard.com about their features, and plans for the LP. “We got Lyfe Jennings, Paul Wall, 8Ball & MJG, Akon, the Game, Lil’ Jon and Lil’ Wayne,” “It’s hot as hell!”Most of the album production was kept in house, except for tracks from Akon. “We wanted Akon to do some production on there ‘cause we’re fans of his,” said J.
The album also plans to feature long time friend Project Pat, Crime Mob’s Princess and Diamond, and Chamillionaire, who is featured on their current single “Doe Boy Fresh”. When asked about what their second single might be, DJ Paul responded “We haven’t decided yet, but we have like 50 tracks to choose from.”
Original Set to come into stores in April, “Last Walk” has now been set to drop parallel to the end of 3 6 Mafias MTV realty series “Adventures in Hollyhood”. “You see us in meetings, recording, trying to come up with songs, trying to do movie deals, even trying to pick up women,” says DJ Paul. “Our lives are like a circus,” adds J. “You wouldn’t believe the crap we go through everyday.”
Besides all the work they’ve been doing, they still find a way to collaborate with other artists, such as Lil Flip, and recent content from Justin Timberlake. “[Justin] used to always tell us he grew up on our music,” says DJ Paul of teaming up with the fellow Memphis native. “It was that M-town love; it was time for that to happen.”
Their next stop is back in their hometown to perform at the Beale Street Music Festival.
Nelly has made himself into a respectable figure in the acting realm, having recently debuted in the football comedy “The Longest Yard”, he plans on “embracing” that side of his life a bit more.
He spoke to MTV about his secretive future plans, saying,”I can’t really talk about it, but we’re working on a project with one of my all-time favorite pastimes going on,”
“Everybody does it: It’s a bowling flick.” The comedy aims to follow in the lofty footsteps of pin-spinning flicks such as “Kingpin” and “The Big Lebowski,”Rolling Thunder” is what he claimed the titled to be, but he could reveal nothing else.
