Contrary to reports that The Game's 3rd release, "LAX", debuted on the charts at #1 yesterday, it actually was # 2. The Compton, California MC was surpassed by rock group Slipknot, by less than 2,000 units, based on sales figures released by Nielsen SoundScan.
Although The Game had a great showing of selling over 238,000 copies this time out, it's actually his lowest selling debut of an album. His 2005 LP The Documentary entered the chart on top with 587,000 scans, while the 2006 follow-up, Doctor's Advocate, sold more than 358,000 units, to open at #1.
It was originally reported that LAX had beat Slipknot's "Maggots" for the #1 spot, but that sales information was incomplete according to a representative for SoundScan, who added that the long holiday weekend caused delays in sales data.

I don't know about overall stock but then I checked all the stores on thursday, all game albums were sold out and new shipments didn't come in until next tuesday. Therefore the stores understocked...but then again I'm just one person...maybe there's a bunch of stores out there that are filled with his albums...all I'm sayin' is that stores understocked so I couldn't buy his album until now. I won't say that the west refused to buy more copies but I'm from socal and I couldn't buy the album b/c the stores I visited didn't have it...and that was right after it came out. Therefore anyone that would want to buy the album anytime later in the week would not have been able to buy it.
