It’s for these same reasons that The Clipse kept releasing their “I Got it 4 Cheap” series, to keep their name fresh. They also introduced their group, The “Re-Up Gang”, a collective featuring Clipse themselves, Sandman, and Ab-Liva. “The Re-Up Gang is just four MCs that follow the basic rules of hip-hop and lyricism,” Pusha says. “Being creative, painting those pictures, the metaphors that smack you in your face.”
Those same metaphors are now under a serious microscope since the Don Imus controversy, and have sparked black leaders to attempt to “censor” Hip-Hop. “I am floored that our leaders have let the racist comments of this white man be turned around on hip-hop,” states Pusha. “Hip-hop didn’t make that man say that. I’m just appalled.”
Pusha T also added that they will refrain from commenting on the recent Virginia Tech University tragedy via song, saying: “This is bigger than a track,” he says. ””It didn’t even come across my mind.”
