Two weeks ago, during 50 Cent’s five-borough concert tour in New York City, J-Hood appeared on stage with 50 in the Bronx. The sight of Hood on stage with his former adversary was a knife through the heart for D-Block fans everywhere.
The self proclaimed “baby faced gangsta” has been signed to D-Block Records since 2002,acting as the unofficial fourth man in the LOX treo. However, earlier this month, Hood asked to be released from the label due to numerous delays for his long awaited debut solo LP, “Tales From the Hood”.
His departure from the label didn’t send up any red flags,that is until a YouTube video appeared on the Internet showing the former member letting off verbal shots at his former LOX brethren Sheek Louch followed by a clip of him dragging his D-Block chain on the ground.
When questioned about the beef in an interview, Sheek responded, “I don’t know why he’s calling me out. Yo, Hood, when your stepfather was touching on your body, fam, I went and ran in your house and got ’em. Me and my goons ran in and got your step-pops for you… I just want to throw that one out there to sting him a little bit… And I still don’t have no beef with you, until this day. But you getting out of hand. I may have to smack you on your head a little bit… stand in the corner or something…”
Sheek also addressed the current situation between the LOX and Def Jam saying, “ain’t nothing in ink yet, but as far as the lawyers, they’re trying to deal with Def Jam as we speak. A lot of people think the deal is done, but it ain’t done yet. It’s getting closer”.
While the news of J-Hood’s departure from D-Block may be disheartening to hip-hop fans across the board, there is light at the end of the tunnel. For later in the same interview, Sheek confirmed rumors that after a seven year wait, there will finally be another LOX album, “The LOX album will come [out] early next year, realistically. We got 15 [to] 20 songs already done.”
He also mentioned that the album features production from Pharrell,Rockwilder, Timbaland, as well as will.i.am. And if that wasn’t enough to make your day, Sheek also confirmed that his third solo album, “Silverback Gorrila” has just been mixed and mastered. The first single, “I”m So Hood” featuring Avant will be hitting the airwaves soon. Other features on the album include UNK, Bun B, Ice Cube, Jada Kiss, Styles P, Hell Rell, and Jim Jones who also appeared on stage with 50 at the concert.
