Rick Ross has been recently slapped with a lawsuit from his management team Respect Management, with them claiming that the rapper owes over $1 Million dollars in unpaid services for a 3 year time frame, which also witnessed the debut of Ross’ nearly platinum album “Port Of Miami”.
Respect Management (which is based in Philly), and owned by lawyer Kevon Glickman, filed the suit on April 10th, in a PA district court. Glickman says Ross signed with his company in 2004. Later on, Rick(real name William Roberts) was signed to a major label deal Def Jam, who released his album “Port Of Miami”, which sold more than 800,000 units, and spawned the hits “Push It”, and the summer anthem “Hustlin”.
Glickman insists that while he was with Ross, his earned income increased from a mere $5000 to more than 1 million, yet he refused to pay his management for their services.The suit also says that through various intimidation practives, that Rick demanded that mangement commissions be paid not to Respect Manegement, but instead to his Co-Manager, Elric “E-Class” Prince, instantly breaching his agreement.
Elric, not only being Ross’ manager, also is the top man at Miami originated “Poe Boy” Entertainment (who works with artists like Jacki-O) Glickman says he was threatened via “a series of phone calls, meetings, emails, text messages, and other methids”, where it seemed he would be “subjected to severe and bodily harm and/or loss of his life if he did not consent to their demands.”
“The coercion by Roberts and Prince consisted of explicit and implicit threats and intimidation of Glickman by indicating that they were from the streets of Miami, knew how to handle themselves and had known and associated with persons engaged in criminal conduct in the Gang life of Miami and other cities,”, his report states.
Glickmans suit also states that while Ross continues to tour and perform, and is earning a healthy income, he has still failed to pay Respect Management the 20% of his Gross earnings they contractually agreed to. RM is currently seeking an injunction to prohibit Rick from receiving advances from Def Jam, Slip-N-Slide, and Sony Publishing, in order to help gain his company’s unpaid dividends.

It says Ross later signed to Def Jam ok but does it say that RM had anything to do wit that? No. So how do you know they didn't just put him on the backburner which would would most likely void the contract (which is what happens when you sign a contract an don't keep up wit your half) and he had to find someone else that was gonna actually help him get his shit out. I wouldn't wanna pay them either and he never said he didn't wanna pay he said he wanted to pay "E-Class" instead. You don't pay a lawyer to just walk in court with you, if he doesn't plead your case he hasn't done anything you couldn't have done yourself so he doesn't deserve to get paid because he didn't do his job. That applies here too.
