During an interview with KFDM News, Pimp C's mother, Weslyn Monroe, spoke about the death of her son as well as the lack of information detailing the cause of his death.
"Actually, we have very little idea of what happened," Monroe told KFDM News." C's business manager found his body in his hotel room in Los Angeles and we know he died in his sleep. Past that, we don't know anything."
She went on to speak with dealing with her son's death, saying.
"This is a terrible shock; Mama is just a little tougher than most, but I break too, the phone won't stop ringing. It feels good, if anything can feel good now ... He loved (Port Arthur) ... Even when he came home he chose to live here. And to be honest, I wasn't sure of it. But he was, this was his choice."
In other news…
According to his mother the last time they spoke he seemed in good spirits and very excited about an upcoming collaboration with rap group Three 6 Mafia.
"He was in L.A., doing what he loved most," Monroe said.
Too Short, who was one of Pimp C's Close friends, had this to say:
"Pimp C highly influenced the rap game a lot of rappers adopted his rap style and his production techniques. He was [one of] my best friends and fortunately, I was just with him on stage Saturday night at the House of Blues on Sunset. He was in a good mood, smiling and laughing. That's how I'll always remember him."
According to Pimp C's Manager, he had a lot of moves in the works before his death including, a solo deal with Jive, a publishing deal, a national cologne endorsement deal and a new satellite radio show.
"Chad had everything to live for, making his unexpected passing a travesty," Martin said. "Right now, my number one concern is the well being and livelihood of his family who are the ones most deeply affected by this loss. All efforts will be made to ensure that they are properly cared for in this tragic time and beyond."
No date has been set for the funeral.
