33 year old Texas rapper Pimp C, real name Chad Butler, was found dead in a Hollywood hotel room this morning.
According to TMZ, L.A. County Fire responded to a 911 call at the Mondrian Hotel, located on trendy Sunset Strip in Hollywood. They arrived to his sixth floor hotel room to find him dead in bed.
Butler, who was one half of rap duo UGK, was recently under fire from artists and fans alike after he went on an angry tirade bashing the South--specifically Atlanta.
He later went on to apologize.
According to reports, Pimp C had just performed with fellow rapper Too Short at the "House of Blues" in L.A. on Saturday night.

No where did I say he was a great rapper, he was a pioneer for Southern Hip Hop, along with Bun and Outkast, Geto Boys, DOC, etc. Are pioneers the best? No. NWA is definitely not the hardest outta Cali. The thing is this, I see a internet stan basically trying to deface the fact that Pimp C is dead and people are mourning him and you come in trying to look cool by saying not to “front” and bitch and moan that he isnt great, then go to insult the south. Like were all slack-jawed morons. Personally I respect your opinion, but in this instance its just useless. You dont think he was great. Neither do I. SO basically you need to take 5 and dont do anymore than you already done. And Thats word.

This is a great loss 2 Southern Hip-Hop. Dis neezey had some sick solo albums and when I heard the remix of ‘Havin Thangs’ wid da original Big Mike it certified 2 me dat dis dude is n always will be a big part of the South.
