Nas's Nigger Still Hitting The Streets--In Mixtape Form

by Jokesta on May 28th, 2008

http://media.defsounds.com/uploads/assets/1609/1621/6555/asset.jpgNew York rapper Nas is still determined for his controversial entitled album to hit the streets--one way or another. According to Dj Green Lantern, the Queens bred MC will be releasing a mixtape bearing the scrapped album title.

"The Nigger Tape" is said to feature exclusive tracks, remixes and outtakes, including an unreleased verse from Nas’s recently released “Be A Nigger Too,” Black President,” a cut initially slated to appear on Green’s Barak Obama mixtape and “Legendary,” the theme song to a forthcoming Mike Tyson documentary.

A new version of “The Last Real Nigga Alive,” which originally appeared on God’s Son, is also expected to make the final cut.

“I guess it shows you the power of Wal-Mart and Target,” Green tells Rhapsody.com regarding Nas’ title switch. “If that was the case, it’s definitely scary because it kind of fucks with your artistic vision. But Nas and DJ Green Lantern are coming out with a mixtape called The Nigger Tape. Can’t nobody hold that back.”

No word as to when the tape will be released.

cheesuz.. you really sound like an idiot. Saying NaS backed down like a bitch. lol, THIS IS TO ALL YOU GUYS: he never planned to release an album with a name like that, he did it to get pub, and guess what he got? All he did was outsmart you into talking about his album. You talked about it so your helping give his album buzz.. guess what he wants? lol nas will sell no matter what but i love how he can get people talking about his album just by telling you what the title will be then changing it.. what if ready to die was called string cheese? would that have made the songs on the album worse?

I think it may have to do with the difference between Nigga, and Nigger. N. W. A. had Niggaz4Life, AND you had to put it in a mirror to read it. O. D. B. had Nigga Please, and the Nigga was partially censored on the cover with like drawings of stars or something, 2pac had Strictly 4 My N. I. G. G. A. Z., printed vertically, instead of horizontally. Noone has blatantly put the word Nigger on their album cover. listening to “Field Marshall” by Prodigy PEACE

Nas had to change the title of the album, if he wanted his vision to come out. The sad part is how much Def Jam has changed over the years. Russell, Rick and Lyor would have fought 4 their artists artistic right 2 express themselves. Def Jam is a pop label plain and simple. Who’s their biggest acts: Kanye West, Rihanna and Neyo. I feel bad for Nas. He left Columbia, and went into an worse situation. But u know the album is gonna be historic though.

i will try to help you understand the music industry.. artists do not release albums, they release mixtapes. Record companies release albums. Def Jam would not release an album called NIGGER because no store will carry an album called nigger. Why would a record company waste money promoting something that they know will not sell because no store will carry it? and its not like he changed the “art”. The songs will remain the same.. he changed the title.. what if romeo and juliet was entitled corn and beats? Teachers would still force kids to read it like it was the greatest shit ever written.. please remember this is just a title, nothing more, nothing less. Nas himself can hook up with a DJ and put out a mixtape with what ever title he wants, and thats what hes doing. I Dont understand all these nas selling out posts when the situation was out of his hands.. if the stores say they wont carry your album becuase of a title.. then change the title.. thats it.. its done.. if you dont, you look like the ignorant fool who wasted time and money on an album that nobody will hear..

And what happened to da shit about L.a. Reid backin him 100 percent?

So if Nas wanted that title and L.a. Reid said he was behind Nas all the way then how the fuck did we get here!

You can call a mixtape any fuckin thing u want! Middle america dont pay attention to mixtapes anyway!

And since when does Nas put out whole mixtapes?

What happened to the bold statement dat Nas was gonna make with this album title?

A mixtape dont have the same power as a studio album!

Nas didnt change his mind…somebody changed it for him!

Of course Walmart aint gonna sell it!

Of course the labels might lose money!

Dont chu think Nas knew all dis shit before he came up wit dat title?

Of course he did! Thats why it was controversial!

The whole point of naming the album Nigger was to show that he doesnt care about the business side of the game!

I repeat Nas knew dat Walmart wouldnt carry an album called Nigger!

The whole point of doin it was to show dat he didnt give a fuck!

and he didnt give a fuck.. damn he tried, and he was so close to gettin it, but what you gotta understand is that Nas dont have his own record label, his down wit def jam or what not, they on the other hand do give a fuck, its more their money than it is of Nas, top 5 richest artists… Jay-Z, 50 Cent, Diddy, Dr.Dre, Eminem… they all own their own label, meaning they can do what ever the fuck they like, they can call a album Bin Laden for president and put it out! wal mart nor any other big stores will sell it.. but they can do it wit out no one stopping them… Nas does not have that power!

anyways let the “Nigger” album be called “Cracker” coz at the end of the day its just a TITLE which is what Nas wanted ya’all to see, regardless what the album is called the tracklisting and everything else is gonna be the same, same album just a different name (same shit different toilet)!

in my opinion he shoulda renamed it to NiggSTAR, coz i think all the black folks that were slaves are stars, they were clever! slavery stopped but we still had “NiggSTARs” Martin Luther King and Malcolm X just to name a couple, coz racism still exists, but why? whys it still exist?

its not just the media, its every individual!

Fuck dat shit chu talkin bout Fo t Kalibur!

U really dont know as much as u think u do Goodbrotha!

Nas was well aware of all the backlash and all the difficulty he was gonna have to deal with before he announced dat his new album would be called Nigger!

In fact, he knew that there would be a very small chance of him actually releasing an Album called Nigger and so did I or any other Muthafucka wit half a brain (I guess u only got a quarter)for dat matter!

Nas knew that if worse came to worse he would change the fuckin title and still have alot buzz built up for his new album!

Props to Nas! His marketing strategy is impeccable!

Its a shame that marketing strategies are more important than good music but at least Nas understands dat shit now!

He pulled it off well!

Nas is that Nigga, fuck what you heard! I’m glad he found away to deliver us that title one way or another. The rec exects weren’t going to release no album titled ‘Nigger’, c’mon y’all,..are even surprised? This is why the Nas is album is key, that alone proves that Nigger is still a polarizing word. The Album will still cover racial inequality & injustice, like I said, the content is what matters. But the net kept buzin,…”why did he change the title?” or “why not put it out him self?” …listen don’t be a fuck boy b, Nas has bosses too, this wasn’t his choice. Just like Green Lat said Wal-mart & Target got power kid. Def Jam ain’t confortable with such a title, well Enter the Mix tape game. Now to all you cock suckaz sayin Nas has be exploiting Black people, needs a back hand straight up. Last I checked the same shit we go though (as blacks or minorities), he goes through them too. He’s affected by injustice, so why not speak on it since he has a platform & a fallowing. I mean it’s not like Justine Timberlake is saying anything about it,…so as a black man, nas has 100% right to comment on this Nigger shit.
Oh what he wasn’t down in Jena, LA or you didn’t hear from him in the aftermath of the Sean Bell Tragedy….so the fuck what? These are public shit that Al Sharps & Jessie Jax all get down with just for publicity,…Nas does his charity & social duties on the low, we don’t gota see or hear about it.
This Mix Tape will be aiiight,…but the ALBUM will be my shit, the Summer is gona be hot for all your favorite rappers,…

Nigga are you brain dead..Nas ain’t the only one saying something and I can think of 20 other rappers that ain’t selling their soul to do it..He talks a good game but he’s usually contradicting himself even in his own music in damn near 70% of his songs..He can’t make a song about black women without talking about how they love his style and how he got them sucking him off and all kind of shit..How in the hell do you combine Oochie Wallie and Keep your head up? That nigga is lost..Bottom line is if you are going to talk shit and tell us what we need to do then lead by example if not shut the fuck up..Stop being a clown and learn to think for yourself..It’s a lot of black people that spoke up and carried the cause that weren’t Jesus..He put them shoes on so he should wear them..I don’t care how many classic cd’s, verses or any of that bullshit he’s put out..Show me your a man of your words but he can’t do that because he’s always been about talking about shit he hadn’t lived..This ain’t about rap homie..This is real life and we are at war..We don’t need more bullshit politicians..We need niggaz that are going to lead not just talk..It’s enough of y’all niggaz online talking without any action..

You don’t know what I have or haven’t done..But in response to your statement i’m mentored kids and spent time at elderly homes helping them..It’s not about doing all the things that Nas is capable of doing because of course I don’t have the resources..But to go in on the point you made about this just being music that’s the biggest bunch of bullshit i’ve ever heard and I wish niggaz would learn some history on this shit…Since Day muthufuckin 1 music was not just about a melody and words..Go back and learn how the blues, jazz, hip hop and other forms of music we created originated from..It didn’t just start with niggaz wanting to dance or have some shit to listen to..The younger generation think that ignorant shit and that’s what them crackaz want y’all to believe..I could give you a lot of reasons why it ain’t just music..Look at the way niggaz dress, talk, act and everything else where your from and everywhere else..This music is a means to pass on messages and it creates a thought process when you listen to it over and over again…This shit ain’t as simple as y’all niggaz think..Why do you think them crackaz got they hands in the industry so much? Because it’s just music? Hell naw….I could also think of a lot of rappers that do much more than Nas with less resources..I could also give you the history on the musicians that played a part in the Civil Rights movement..They lost out on white fans, concerts and other things but they had principles..Not just trying to be attention whores for record sales..As far as Pac goes he didn’t contradict himself..He gave a different view and that’s why he split the songs up to explain his points..i.e. “Keep ya head up” vs “Wonder why they call you bitch”..Both were relevant and needed and they both served their purpose..Now show me how he was the all time great..It’s different people he described so of course he’s going to give different views..That was game but saying some shit about your African Queen at the beginning of the sentence and then talking about her sucking you off at the end is way different homie..Pac never bragged about the material shit he had..He wasn’t that kind of nigga..Nas is..He still want you to know how fly he is and blah, blah, blah..I dig some of his shit but I can’t get down with all of it..Illmatic and the Lost Tapes are my favorite Nas cd’s..But the reason you can’t tell us how to fix the problems bc just like the rest of us you’re in the middle of the storm, Nas ain’t..All i’m saying if the nigga cared so much he’d do more..Give me 20% of his money and I bet i’d have all kinds of shit going on to change the way our people are treated..I’m not like the rest of these fake ass niggaz that just talk the talk..Innocent niggaz getting killed left and right by the police, the disparity in sentences with white vs black, and so on..I can’t do shit from where i’m at but a nigga like that with influence could use it to cause change not just create controversy..You keep believing this nigga is really for the cause and you’ll see when his next cd drops..He’s running out of controversial titles but i’m sure he got a few more left..I could care less about the name of his album..I want to see some action behind all that damn talking period..Jay even called the nigga out when they was beefing about this shit..Nigga always giving opinions but where’s Waldo when the shit hits the fan? Stop trying to protect these rappers that don’t give a fuck about you..Nas ain’t Pac and he wouldn’t jump out his limo to help if he see you getting your ass whooped..That nigga would keep on rolling..Trust me on that..The problem with the younger generation is they tried to replace Jay with Big and Nas with Pac and neither one them niggaz could ever be Pac or Big..Nas don’t have the heart and Jay ain’t as humble as Big was..Both of them niggaz was really about the niggaz in the streetz..These niggaz are corporate rappers..Niggaz rapping about cracka this and cracka that but giving them same crackaz jobs that they could give to their people..Them same niggaz hanging with the crackaz that got their throats on our necks..Tell people like Ray Charles, James Brown, Dick Gregory, Bill Cosby and others that jeopardized their career for the cause that it’s only entertainment..The reason you can’t find any niggaz protesting or doing shit is because we are a race full of cowards..We’ll kill, rape and harm each other but we ain’t crossing them tracks doing all that shit in masters neighborhood..A race of fucking cowards who entertainers accept money to keep their mouth shut about the problems their people face..It take a weak ass nigga like Kanye to say something while all these so called gangster are bitchin up..Music and entertainment has always been a reflection of our lives because thats how it was created..Again, it’s never just music pimpin..It’s just music to the deaf and dumb…

GawgaBwoy770,
That’s some real shit B, I got mad respect for a cat that can articulate their point through writing, every point you made was crispy clear. But to have a debate it would be pointless for me to agree with you 100%. Id have to say, that I agree that we are a generations of cowards, and that includes most of these black entertainers, you & me. And we soft for a reason my nigga, We didn’t have it like our grandpops, James Brown, Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder and ‘em. There’s no way in hell the leading artist would be have been quiet if Sean Bell was killed in the 60’s, 70’s (and maybe 80’s). Shiiiit, There’s no way in Hell Marvin Gay or James Brown would have released a diss song towards a NBA player & couldn’t take time to address a shooting of an Innocent young black male. C’mon b, shit is obvious, we would have riots left & right led by our black Artist & leaders. Now lets keep it 100, not only that we have young jocks & ying yang twins as artist, but who the fuck are our black leaders now? And please don’t even bring up Jessie Jax & Al Shap punk ass,…we all know these niggaz M.O, they aren’t any different from these soulja boy artists to me. Maybe Barack could step in to fill them shoes, but that would be asking too much from him…compare that to an era that had Malcolm X, Martin Luther King, Mohamed Ali, Jessie Owen, Jim Brown etc.

But the reality is, we are not in that era anymore, there’s a different way to fight the struggle, the Media & the Internet is a powerful tool. Nas Is playing his position, and we have to play ours. It would be a shame for us to assume that Nas can do it him self. We can either support this album, go copp it, make a stand here & now or bitch and moan about how Nas Is exploiting this as a marketing tool. Well 1st of all, how can Nas exploit this shit, last I checked Nas was Black too my nigga, he has experienced racial profiling. That alone gives him 200% right to speak on this,…I mean who would you rather have make this album, Eminem? Justin Timberlake? C’mon b, Even Pac Said it, “I’m not trying to change the world, I will spark the brain of the person/people that will change it”. Pac played his part & now Nas is playin his, It’s up to you, me & the rest of Defsound B-bags to jump on this movement support real ish. Nas’s Message isn’t even a fraction of this movement, it’s bigger then just this one album, but this one Album is needed. Nas is just a tool used by a higher power to deliver the damn message. And so the fuck what if you getting beat & he rolls by you in his Limo,…nigga..is you crazy? I wouldn’t stop for you either, matter of fact 90% of the real niggaz will roll by too, I mean I don’t know you,…and I know you won’t stop for any stranger either. Who knows why you getting beat up for,…I don’t stick my shit where it don’t belong. Like I said I do see your point on how these artist are afraid though, yes but last I checked they were just regular peeps like you & I. The Man’s name is Mr. Nasir Jones, not Reverend Nasir Jones,…the man is human dude. He has a family to feed & responsibility. You have to learn to fight the war, lose a battle or 2, so you can live to fight tomorrow.

And as far as people comparing Jay to Big & Nas To Pac, it’s a shame, but we all know the public wanted a replacement bad, and we can’t blame it on these Dudes. BIG & PAC did their thing, it’s sad, but hey, the torched was passed, and that’s that.
And if you say Pac never glorified the party life, bitches hoes & jewelries, then you need to re-up on your Pac joints,…”I’ve been around” alone touches all that.
But that’s fine, Pac, just like Nas can give you joints like “Ambiance of a Ridah”, then turns around & gives you “Benda’s baby” or Give you joints like “Made you Look” then shortly after “I know I can”. B that’s why we humans, people need to kick it, Even Martin Luther King had a Skeez on the side (look it up). And Where did you think he got killed at? It was a prostitution Motel my nigga. But so the fuck what? The Man needed his dick sucked ounce in while too, that don’t make him less of a black leader.
Yo all I have to say is PICK THAT NAS UP WHEN IT DROPS

The Bottom line is dat Nas is a Hyopocrite just like most rappers are.

Im always gon be a Nas fan and im always gon buy his music….but I dont like when niggas be talkin bout Nas like he some kinda saviour or like he’s righteous and innocent or some shit.

Nas is a snake! (I said it) He comes off like a real nice dude but he just as grimy as anybody else. He just not violent about it.

Think about it look at all the niggas dat Nas used to be cool wit and now they hate Nas for reasons dat we never seem to know.

Az
Nore
Mobb Deep
Biggie
Jay(they cool again right now)
Tragedy Kadafi
The bravehearts
Lakey da Kid
Nature
Cormega

Dats alot of niggas…..and im not sayin it was all his fault but he gotta have somethin to do wit it.

When Nas Baby Mama said dat Nas be sittin around da crib talkin mad shit about rappers he supposed to be down wit in public Like sayin Fat Joe is mad corny…..I believe dat shit!
And even though Fat Joe is Mad Corny Nas should say dat to his face if dats how he feels

All im sayin is dat Nas stans need to stop actin like Nas’ shit dont stink

Pac stans are da same fuckin way!

And even though Nas and Pac are far from average rappers.

They are not Martyr’s sent down from heaven to uplift the whole world.

They are just men like me and U!

I just read everything that all of you wrote and none of you are wrong.

And Im gonna try to keep my part simple…

Its not up to these niggas to be hero’s. They do come off as hypocrites when they talk about helping and then just floss in their videos.

BUT

Its the fact that THEY DO SAY SOMETHING at all that makes them important to this culture. And fuck what anybody says about Kanye. What he did was absolutely a BRAVE and EMPOWERING move.

So yeah they flash and brag and all that. But they ALSO try to make a difference. And furthermore, Big & Pac aint no different than Jay & Nas. Same shit homie all day. Only reason they up on such a high plane is because they are departed. What Kanye West does is the SAME exact type of shit as Tupac just minus the thug shit.

You made a lot of valid points but to say Nas or any other entertainer couldn’t lead more by actively partaking in the struggle is ridiculous…It ain’t about him doing everybody else part..I wouldn’t take this much of a stand just to release a cd and hide..That ain’t in me pimpin..If i’m going to say something i’m going to ride with my word until it ain’t no more heartbeats left..I ain’t saying Nas should be MLK, Malcolm, or any of the sort but he needs to do something more than talk..The same niggaz he criticized with “Hip Hop is Dead” do more in their community than the nigga thats supposedly passing us this great message..I think that’s ass backwards..All these lesser known artists doing their parts it’s the majority of the cowards that got mass appeal that ain’t doing theirs..I don’t want them to be something their not but they need to stop pretending like that’s what they about too..Niggaz on the lowest level who really need the assistance and unity ain’t getting it..Words can’t help a nigga when cops shooting at him, he hustling bc them crackaz won’t give him a job bc of his past history and his kids got to eat, or the innocent brothaz getting jammed up in the sentence unjustly..They need actions..Words can’t help the ones that need the most help, which makes up the majority of our people..We need people to bring unity and try and get us together for the cause..I know Jesse and Al got their motives, which is money and attention..Those are two things these entertainers already have..They have no excuse except they don’t care enough bc they aren’t living with these issues…The difference between back then and now is we don’t make the artists..Our artists make us nowadays..Too many real niggaz following cowards and pussy’s bc they got money..Niggaz are selling themselves cheap for all the wrong reasons…

Now if I saw two white boyz whooping on your ass and i’m riding by you best believe they better pull out badges or guns or all of us are going to be scrapping mufuckas and thats on everything…I ain’t calling you out but that’s the same coward mentality that got us in this bullshit…If me and you whooping a white boy and some crackaz drive by you best believe they jumping out..We carry ourselves like we so hard and gangsta but it’s only against each other..That’s just like a nigga getting fucked over at work and come home and take it out on his family bc he too shook to put that cracka in his place..Why beat and mistreat your wife and kids bc your master fucked with you at work? You know shit like this happens all the time..We don’t cross them tracks to start problems we rather take the coward way out and rob, kill, rape ane all that in our neighborhoods…Why rob your brother of his peanuts when he got paid by the same white boyz that paid you? Go rob them mufuckaz but we ain’t doing that…Why? Bc of the coward mentality and self hate that they’ve put in us..They got us acting like ho’z fighting for their man..But we the pimps and players, right?

But it ain’t all on Nas but we didn’t make Nas put on them shoes either..He picked them himself…I know we have to take accountability ourselves but we don’t have the means period..But just like everyone else that picked them shoes he had a choice..I already knew about the Martin situation but the flip side to that is J.Edgar Hoover/FBI and JFK had MLK in their back pockets and they had puppet strings on him..MLK didn’t understand the fact that we knew he was human..He chose to keep that shit hidden instead of being a man about it and it cost us all..Go read up on why Malcolm had problems with him..He was willing to hide his secret and follow the same mufuckas game plan that were controlling us anyway..He turned into a middle man before his death..Why do you think the crackaz glorify him so much? Any black man that white people back too much be weary of them…i.e. Barack Obama..They are supporting them for a reason and it ain’t equality…But I wasn’t judging Nas for his personal life bc we all know he’s a sucker for love and all that..It’s about what he’s doing which is only about controversy..Read up on Pac and see what movements he was starting before he passed..He was trying to get into politics and start a movement..It wasn’t just words or a cd…Anybody can say the right things but a real nigga will back them words up..Think about it..I’m sure you just like me have told females whatever to fuck..Nas will tell you whatever to sell cd’s..Trust me on that..I don’t care what stores wouldn’t carry NIGGA if he would’ve released it he could of went platinum on the streets with a street team…Because real niggaz would’ve saw he was serious and this wasn’t just publicity..They would’ve followed the actual movement..Now this is only a cd just like “Hip Hop is Dead” was..It came and it went..Has hip hop changed for the better since then? Hell naw..Why? Bc it was just a cd..Nothing that was capable of changing people state of mind…That’s why if you’re so concerned you start a movement or you take the opportunity to make an intelligent point when you’re asked about the situation…Nas didn’t make any intelligent points when asked and he ain’t starting a movement…Why hasn’t he used his voice to really attack certain issues? He’s just throwing random things out there..Nothing gets corrected by telling us about the problems we already knew existed..With all the money this man got he don’t even have a foundation to help the kids from his old neighborhood or anything..He shoots a few dollars through Chris Webbers foundation but that’s it..These athletes and other rappers ain’t just talking..They are actually doing and that’s what I think he should do..His words ain’t enough because he’s not a prophet plus he ain’t saying shit we didn’t already know..He don’t give his time nor money the way he should if he’s about the cause like that…As a matter of fact he was hating on all the bubblegum rappers but them same niggaz do more in their communities with less than him..So, who’s really wrong at the end of the day? The nigga that provides the wrong message and makes it up by doing things for his community or the nigga that provides the right message but is nowhere to be seen after the message is put out and don’t do shit? Who you riding with?

I see where you coming from my man but about the whole “don’t trust a black man if white people like him”, I ain’t wit that shit fam. I mean white people could like Barrack for the simple fact that he’s a better candidate than his competition nothing more nothing less. I think you’re reading a little bit too into it. I mean for a colored man to come as far as Barrack has already is a historic accomplishment in itself. I mean you talking about black unity an all that but at the same time you said be weary of a black guy gettin luv from white folks. That’s a double standard. I don’t give a fuck what people say about someone, I’ll like a person if I personally feel they’re genuine. I don’t get into that picking a person apart shit just because everyone else is doing it. Ya feel me?

As far as Pac goes. Pac is a legend plain and simple. He had a vision (Thug Life) but he never truly got to see it accomplished. Why?? Because of the bad decisions (dumb shit) he got himself into. Who’s fault is that?? HIS!! Why was he preaching that black people need to unite but at the same time he jumped a black man in Las Vegas, not even by himself but next to like 15 other niggas? Where was his “black unity” shit then?? Nas is making powerful music just like Pac but Nas is living his life. He’s not living some movie like Pac was. Ask any nigga around him, Pac wrote certain lyrics and he tried to live that shit out. Don’t get it twisted Pac was a real nigga that rose from poverty but some of his “Death Row” antics were shaky fam. Suge completely manipulated that nigga and made him someone he wasn’t. It’s one thing to have a movement and preach about unity but it’s another thing to completely contradict you’re own damn philosophy.

At the end of the day one man can’t change shit and people make mistakes. It’s not guaranteed that Pac was gon help you out if you got jumped, how could u possible know something like that?? How would you know if Nas wouldn’t hepl some one out in that situation?? You don’t personally know these niggas so you can’t really speak on that situation.

^ you cant just go talkk about Pac like that, you gotta understand how he group up, Pacs mother was rollin wit Malcolm X, so all his life time he grew up around black people this black people that, how we need to change this and that, Pac had a talent he could rap he used that, he used that to get his messages across, now u saying Pac was talkin about black unity and all that shit, and how he jumped a black dude with 15 other dudes, imma muslim kid from britain in their eyes imma “terrorist” i want all us muslims to get along but we dont, i got a lot of beef wit a lot of muslims, so what u gotta understand no individual can do shit on his own, at Pacs time not everybody gave a fuck about him then, then we do now, he has more people following in 2008 than he had in 1995, yet Malcolm X n MLK in their presence had thousands and millions of people following them they had the whole of “black america” hence they made changes they made a movement, and if they had not been killed, then who knows maybe one of them could of been president!

but in my eyes no one in America will make a good president, if you study all that shit 9/11 etc. youd prolly realize their is something more powerful than the white house, their are people who are controlling the president! so all in all, you wanna save america, before saying shit about anyone else you go ahead do it yourself and get people to follow

GawgaBwoy770,
I feel you 100% B, trust me in another life I’d bet you a mil, that you and I are friends and debate the shit out everything around us. I like where you mind is at my Nigga.
Well peep game, How you gona just say it’s just another CD, when we agreed this shit is more then music. And as far as ‘Hip-Hop Is Dead’ Goes, his intention was to create a debate, then let you & I talk about it (which he did). I strongly feel that some artist did step their Game up b/c they felt disrespected,…it also help us/the people/the consumers to demand more from them. Well but since we Agree the artist makes us & we don’t make them anymore, this will be a hard to habit to brake from. But As far as the struggle goes, Nas may not be as Vocal as you want him to be, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t making a impact in the community. We really don’t know his charity sheet, for all we know he can be giving under an alias. Do you know how many of these stars do that just b/c they want to keep it private? C’mon,…like I said lets not make Nas what he’s not. He’s just a man with a voice, and he chooses to exercise that voice through a CD. He may not be the Leader we want him to be yet, but believe me when I say: “he will in time”. There’s no tuning back from here, he has never made a stand like this, Never has he ever released a CD this polarizing. And How can We forget that Pac had “Strictly for my N.I.G.G.A.Z”? Let’s just let him rock B….Like I said I feel you, but let’s see where Nas goes from here, if he drops this album this year, then next year he’s on some B.S,…I’ll be the 1st to let him have it. But for Now, just like you would jump out the whip to my rescue and find out what’s good, I’m jumping out to support Nas, for multiple reasons, but the main one…and yes b/c he’s a nigga going in hard & no mater what the record labels want to do to shut him up, he’s finding ways to release the Damn CD w/ out changing the concept or it’s content.
He may not be an active activist, but that doesn’t warrant us to call him a coon, we are not with him 24/7, I’m sure there’s a few lives he personally touched.
Like I said, we Need the Message,…perfect example: My guy who’s on the Defense squad, his art instructor is making him record some shit for some local middle school, I mean it’s mad funny, b/c shit will help the kids b/c of the message that will be delivered. But real talk, my man smokes more weed then Red & Meth, finds way to get clean piss on test days, styles on cats in club on the regular,…lol in short dude is far from a good role model. But guess what his message will play it’s part. He’s just a vehicle for that message. Same goes for Nas, We need shit like this out, and this shit can inspire me, you & the whole black race (I hope) to finally make a stand. Nas may fail, but at least he is trying.

i feel you on all that i actually agree with most of it music was made from african drum patterns and chants around fires to worship or praise then it became about what the white man can get from it when they realized our talents in america so when i say its just music thats what i mean b/c they dont care what nas says the only reason they wouldnt let him use that tittle is b/c they fear the whites wont buy it this shit would be great if rappers had the money to put their own albums out without record labels censoring them, on the matter if nas uses his titles for contravery or not i dont think he does b/c were the ones that make a big deal out of them and that hip hop is dead album was really saying what everybody was saying already niggas got it twisted hip hop is dead rap is alive

Listen to what i’m telling you brotha pertaining to that whole situation..I guaruntee I know more history on Barack than you do..I ain’t saying he’s not worthy of our support..I’m telling you plain and simple if he’s in their pocket he’s got their agenda at hand and he’s in their back pocket to some extent..I’ve been to his former pastor’s church and Rev. Wright is the truth period..That’s who we should be following..The more this campaign goes on the more he proves to be a sellout..Hillary supporters can talk about killing him on tv but he distances himself any time race becomes an issue while they attack him on the same issue..Also, he’s not an american born black man..His mother was white, his father was African..He didn’t even really know his father..He didn’t know shit about our culture until he came to Chicago..He’s also 3rd cousins with the Vice President..Read into shit pimpin and stop ignoring what’s in front of your face..Every man that’s black ain’t black inside..I’m not saying he is or ain’t for us but one thing I do know is he didn’t even spend most of his time in the states growing up..He wanted to be black so bad he came to one of the worse cities for blacks and one of the worse areas in the city..I know bc i’m from the Southside and my sister’s grandmother lived in one of the housing projects he worked in..I’ve never met him but somethings fishy about that guy…I can’t put my finger on it and i’ll still support him over Hillary and McCain but i’m going to keep my eyes open..I didn’t particularly care for his comments on the Sean Bell incident either..He threw an innocent dead man under the bus because he was worried about his white supporters..When did it stop being okay to speak your mind if something is wrong? Take away his color and he don’t have many similarities to us..Not the culture, heritage or any of that..His mother remarried and he grew up in Hawaii and I think Guam if not mistaken..But I read into a lot of things so I won’t be just another nigga voting for him because he’s black… Don’t forget other brothaz helped the white men enslave our people that were brought here..Just because he black don’t mean he for us period..He’s not earning our support..He’s earning them white folks support with money raised and donated by black people while continually avoiding situations that affect us..When is he going to single us out and talk about the disparities and stop talking about America as a whole? We know what he’s going to do as President but what is he going to do for us..Bill Clinton told us before we elected him..Clinton earned our support but we’d vote a mixed nigga with a white mother in just bc of his color..By the way, Clinton was never for us either..He was involved in the Iran Contra situation with Bush and Reagan..Why do you think he’s in the Bush family back pocket? Same reason the rest of these mufuckas are..

Nas is living but Pac is worth more to black people dead or alive than Nas will ever be and that’s on everything..Nas has always been about living some bullshit ass life..His whole catalogue is other niggaz lives..Go back and check your history..I’ve never heard a nigga from NY say Nas was this or that..His brother Jungle may have been a rider but Nas ain’t live the majority of the shit he talked about..This nigga wanted to be an intelligent street nigga the first album, from the second album on he’s make his conscious songs but even in those songs he talks a lot of Mob type talk and he’s not affiliated nor do they even like us unless they making money off of us..Pac lived most of what he was talking about..Remember Pac was a smart dude that got caught with the situation he was in because of his mothers problems..10 out of 10 niggaz acting out in rage are doing it because of built up anger from family situations…I do agree Suge had a battery on his back but where did all the niggaz Pac looked out for go when he needed them? He made that deal with the devil and he shouldn’t have even been in that situation bc the nigga didn’t even rape that chick..His boyz did and the courts threw the book at him because of who he was and he had just shot them off duty Atl police officers around the same time..Of course them crackaz wanted his ass and deep down I still feel the govt had something to do with his death..Them jumping on that dude was just an alibi..But you don’t know why the situation took place and if a nigga deserve to get they ass beat for doing something foul then so be it..That don’t mean we can’t be unified..That just mean we don’t unite with shiesty or shady niggaz..Just bc I whoop a brotha ass don’t mean I don’t love my people..You got it all wrong pimpin..Unified or not niggaz are still going to get checked..But bitch niggaz run to guns that’s the difference..So that’s no contradiction pimpin..It’s just real life..

I didn’t say Pac would’ve helped me out but he did help out another brotha he didn’t know and beat a rap on shooting cops for helping the brotha so you tell me..Now, would you have done it? Where’s your heart at? Are you a coward or man? I stand up for what’s right…I wouldn’t let a nigga beat on a chick in front of me..Why? Because that’s a coward move not to do something bc that’s an unfair fight and if the nigga want to fight then he can fight another man..If Nas ain’t even giving his time and barely donating money why in the fuck would I think this nigga would help in that situation? Pac wasn’t scared to be around his people..Nasir Jones is..He’s been hiding the whole time he’s been out..Drop a cd..Hide..Drop a cd..Hide..Nas could’ve helped a lot of good rappers out of QB get on..They were on in his circle..Why didn’t he? I do see a nigga actions so I can speak on it..You need to stop making excuses for Nas and let him stand like a man on his words..

Last but not least..If a chick said she was all about you and you gave her money and had her looking right and all that but at the same time she’s taking your money spending it and catering to the next nigga, are you going to keep supporting her? If not there’s your reason why Barack shouldn’t have too much of our trust..Who is he catering to? Who benefits off the issues he’s addressing? Think about it…We always getting pimped but swear we got so much game..I don’t get it..This is psychological warfare and if you ain’t never ran game to that extent you’ll never know when it’s being ran on you…The same ones were played by Clinton..Just remember that..Some niggaz still going around praising him like an idiot…Think about why the white folks with money are supporting Barack…It ain’t poor white folks supporting him..It’s lower and middle class niggaz supporting him who really don’t have the means..We need to stop looking for a Savior and falling for all these niggaz bullshit..i.e. Nas, Jay, Barack, Al, Jesse and whoever the fuck else..All these niggaz got one agenda..Money…

Nas nor Jay will ever be leaders except in an indirect way..They will lead more by example than anything else..Jay could handle the pressure but Nas can’t and never has..He have a problem with being on the spot..Plus he don’t articulate a lot of his points too good..I dig him don’t get me wrong but I know he’s not going to back all this shit up..Real talk “Lost Tapes” is one of my favorite cd’s because I think is was more the real Nas..He gave more insight on himself..It’s a reason those tapes were lost…I agree he had niggaz thinking when the last cd dropped but it was more negative energy than anything and nothing really got resolved in my opinion..It’s been a hell of a lot more bubblegum artists, more vets sold their soul for the money and so did he by signing to Def Jam in the first place..But i’ll sit back and see what he does..I am feeling that last single he dropped..I just want some sort of action behind it..But let’s look at it like this..He’s dropping that mixtape as a cd and selling it..Who’s getting the money? He don’t need it so he should go ahead and donate it to a cause…Lets see what happens..

@ Jad

I agree with everything you said but I got a question…Do you think Nas don’t have the means to put out his own album? Of course he do..I think he should release it just to spite them or I wouldn’t have been made if he flipped it around like NWA did but don’t let the people who you are supposedly fighting continue to control you..He lost in this situation to me..

this is my only argument with what you said and this goes for all rappers i only judge these dudes based on what they say in there songs b/c i dont know them personally and every rapper raps from a point of view of being the best, hardest, toughest and so on….rappers get attention when its something negative around them but they are never mentioned when it comes to them doing good shit like charity work or giving to the poor b/c even though i dont like david banners music i will say this nigga giveafuck about his ppl even t.i. but other than that i dont know what these rappers are outside of music i just know there always someone thats gonna discredit where your from and now that you got money its where you dont be anymore just like shawty lo doin t.i. now sayin he aint from bankhead and personally im a producer and i got niggas in my city sayin the never seen me in the streets or the niggas i run with and i know if i blow up i wont be able to go back to my hood like i want to and help out b/c of grimey niggas hatin or wantin money they would do bad with..on the helpin rappers out from qb i feel you on that cuz i grew up on ny music and im from nc but i know alot of qb niggas that rapped with nas that was hott i remember when nas called all them niggas out on the radio years back capone-n-nore,cam,cormega,nature and nobody listend now where them niggas at? but honestly i dont think nas has ever had the money to put other dudes on like he could have his ill will shit didnt go so good but i was amazed to find out hes worth about 30 mill but i def think he could have been worth way more with jays ambition

Sharpton had no influence on me changing the title," he asserted. “Hip-hop has caught a lot of heat this last year from our so-called black leaders. We have a lot of enemies from these so-called leaders and they go to these corporations and extort the record labels.”

“These [leaders] have no way of making money and they’re mad we’re making a lot of money off of sh*t we sell in the streets,” he continued, “There’s no more outspoken or political rappers. It ain’t far fetched on us, but the old generation frowns on us. The [Bill]Cosby’s and Sharpton’s they’re scared that hip-hop n*gga’s are on the way up and the so-called leaders play the tap dance roll because of that.”

In the end, the politically charged emcee explained the reason for initially naming the album the N-word.

“I ain’t Farrakhan and I ain’t trying to be him,” Nas confessed. “I like pissing people off and stir stupid n*ggas. If you ain’t putting your career on the line, it ain’t safe no more… My pops told me, ’don’t underestimate intelligent people. Dumb n*ggas will get it, too’!”

GawgaBwoy, I understand where you coming from my man, but I gotta disagree wit you on the Pac and barrack issue. How does Barrack keep running from the issue of race?? Did you not see the Philly convention speech he had?? He welcomes that debate every time Hillary’s dirty ass camp brings shit up about his race and religion.

With the Pac issue, you gotta understand that I love Pac’s music he’s one of the best ever and easily the most influential ever. I just don’t understand how this nigga almost became God-like after he died. Most of his fans was in diapers when he was really alive. He said many times in many interviews that “this is not my real life, this is not how my life is supposed to be”. People that grew up wit Pac said he changed. He tried to sell drugs but was horrible at it so he gave it up. He wasn’t “Mr. Tough Guy” growing up, matter fact he was known for getting his ass whooped a lot because of his big mouth. There’s several different stories about Pac getting bodied on several different occasions in New Jersey and the east coast area. He said many times that his beefs and things of that nature were competition, he always bragged about selling more than the next guy. You gotta understand that Pac was a very socially conscious dude when he first came out, (his first CD was damn near nothing but socially conscious shit), as his career progressed, he fell back from that and went more to the mainstream level of things making popular records. I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with that but it’s not like Pac was “fighting the man” his whole career. Reality is Pac did what he had to do to get money. It’s not like Nas, Jay, etc… are the only ones wanting money. You act like Pac wanted to rap for free. NO! he wanted money just like any other rapper, hence him switching his style up (from strictly socially conscious) to more of a mainstream level as his career progressed. Also Pac early in his career used to call out black people (like Oprah, Eddie Murphy, Qunicy Jones etc..) for not doing enough for the community. Then out his own mouth he said he didn’t really mean to say all that, he was just trying to be “cute” in other words get attention. He said that out his own mouth fam.

Listen I like Pac alot, I just don’t like when niggas put Pac on the same level as Jesus.lol He wasn’t a God, he was a regular nigga from the slums that made it out because of talent. He (like any human being) made some mistakes and did some dumb shit that eventually got him killed. My point in all this is, lets not put people on pedal stools, don’t look up to people, look up to God.

Peace

i completely agree with u on that Pac switched it up as his career blew up…ive followed this nigga for years homie, not just after he died like most mufuckas, so i like to think i know a little…just to put my two cents in yalls ongoing debate, i leave on this quote…

“I think hip hop should be about more money, crazier sounds, different beats MORE MONEY. Cause wit more money we could do something for the communities that these hip hop artists are coming out of. By getting more artists on part singing we could go into more coffee shops and do more performances. We’ve been performing this shit since the 70’s. Ya know what I mean? Lets get some papers, get some buildings, get some community centers. Ya can’t do that without money…”…Pac…

now he was quoted sayn that days before he was shot in Vegas in an interview on the Angie Martinez show…i just hope u didnt mean that Pac was in it for money JUST for himself…if that is what u meant, check urself homie…if not clarify it a little better next time for niggas like me…all in all, i agree with what all u r saying about everything, not just Pac…good to know we still have some real niggas out here that arent blinded by todays society, and dont just accept everything they hear or read…

@Da God

As far as Barack goes he’s a hypocrite and traitor when it comes to his religion and as far as his race goes i’ve never seen him really address the issues in our community..When people that do address these issues that are close to him he distances himself from them..I don’t care how Hillary brings it up..That just makes me lose respect for her..I care more about what he says and in this case don’t say about the issues that affect the people that are giving him the majority of his support..

Now on the Pac issue..It ain’t no man perfect walking this earth and we also have to understand Pac was only 25 years old when he died..In those 25 years he did more than 98% of the rappers that ever touched a mic..I’m not a youngin cuz..I’m 29 years old so I know what’s what..I know he contradicted himself and did a lot of wild things but so have you and me..If me or you were jugded for the things we did for that short of period and that was our legacy i guaruntee it would be filled with some good and bad but a lot of it would be filled with immaturity and youth..Pac was wise beyond his years..He’s not God-like to me but Pac was truly one of the special people that God gives us..We as a people exploited him and his talents..When he was all about the people no women called him attractive and no niggaz followed him the way they did later on..What changed that? Him having that I don’t give a fuck attitude..We lost in that situation not him..He had his destiny but we could’ve controlled by giving more support when he was all about doing the right thing..Look at how things are now..Niggaz that got something to say don’t get heard while the so called d-boys, drug abusers and everything else get all the spotlight..We are too weak to stand up for what’s right but we’ll follow fools in a minute…

Pac switched his style up because just like you and me he grew and things around him changed..You can’t always have a positive attitude about everything and to tell you the truth the majority of his music was conscious except when it pertained to his beefs and the majority of those were legit..Just because you are conscious don’t mean you can’t stand up for yourself..It was a lot of bullshit going on around him and he addressed it..We all know his lyrics changed but so did his enemies and environment so that’s understandable..But I get your point about putting people on pedestals but you have to understand that God put special people on this earth with the ability to lead and guide…Problem is we follow money more than we follow reason, morality and values…Just like it was special people before Pac there will be more to follow but the way we are going it won’t any difference to us because we’ll keep following fools for money and that’ll continue to blind us from seeing the truth that some people speak..One other thing the govt wasn’t following Pac for no reason..They knew the power he had..It’s a reason his poems and music are studied here and abroad..You can’t go to another continent and people don’t know who Pac was..He had the ability to bring black and white people together even while speaking the truth..That’s real power and it was dangerous power..

The title “Nigger” has the desired publicity effect. Do you ever remember any of Nas’ previous albums getting so much publicity before?

Nas is intelligent and articulate. He knew from the off that the album title will stir controversy even amongst those who don’t listen to hip-hop. That gave him unprecedented new coverage and marketing.

While the title was changed for mainstream distribution, the content remained the same. As always, I expect Nas to deliver a super tight album that deals with relevant issues faced by the broader community.

That’s hip hop. Spread the word and create awareness.

Honestly.. and not to stomp on his artistic vision.. but sometimes you just gotta realize when shit is just gon bring you more problems than profit. I mean damn, nigga.. you gon name your album nigga? White folk gon be gettin beat up every day.. askin somebody to borrow that shit..

But all jokes aside.. the album change was a neccessary move.. when you got the label telling you the shit ain’t comin out and they tell it to you PUBLICLY.. then, i mean.. what you gon do? but like Roland said.. the man has alot of people talkin about this album.. and it’s the same album with a different name.. so maybe he did the right thing after all.
