Houston rapper Mike Jones was allegedly punched in the face at the Houston Ozone Award's show yesterday. The incident occurred backstage at the George R. Brown Convention Center where the show was being held. Witnesses say Trae The Truth, another Houston MC, had some words with Jones and then swung at him.
Sources say Jones was bleeding but there is no word yet on if he required medical attention, however, he did take to the stage to present an awrad after the altercation. Jones spoke with a local radio station shortly after the issue and had this to say.
"It just really was a publicity stunt," Jones explained. "Everybody seen that it was the perfect time to do this. They don't have to pay for advertisements and promotion so he did that. Dude came and shook my hand and I guess he's mad because I call myself the president - because I am the president of H-Town, I run this city."
He then went on to speak about the incident involving Trae. "After we shook hands and had words, he went his way and I went my way. Next thing I know he snuck up behind me and tried to swing at me. I ain't about to give nobody no fame, no publicity, no nothing. It's going to get handled in the streets."
