Producer/Rapper Mannie Fresh called into his hometown radio station Q93 in New Orleans a few days ago, to let everyone know what was going on. He revealed that he and Jay-Z have come to terms on a deal on Def Jam, and went into detail , saying
“I just did a deal with Jay-Z,” he said. “Dude reached out to me. He flew me up, we talked about it and they wrote something nice. It was a nice little proposal.” “What made me take the deal is, they didn’t want me to only do this exclusive deal with them. They were like, “You can go do whatever it is you do.” So my thing at Def Jam is to overlook the southern artists they have, as well as sign new artists.”
One of the main issues that had everyone wondering, was the relationship between he, and the last remaining Hot Boy Lil Wayne. Mannie spoke on a private conversation between the two of them, adding:
“We had some words. I asked him if he had a problem with me, because in all honesty, I never had a problem with him,” Fresh said. “So I stepped to him like a man, like, ‘Dude, the problem is not with you, so don’t take sides that don’t got nothing to do with you.
I got a problem with another man, it has nothing to do with you.’” Fresh went on to say, “But he said, at the time, he was trippin’ and he took sides. But he reached out for his new album, so hopefully we gonna put something together and do business.”
Not only has Mannie been busy, announcing that he’s going to produce for T.I’s next album T.I. vs T.I.P, but he’ll also be collaborating with the legendary Nas soon as well. He also mentioned that he’s crafting the majority of Juveniles new album. “I did the whole Juve album,”.“I executive produced the whole album and I did about 13 tracks on it. It’s that Juve y’all wanted.”
On the other side of the industry, it seems The Game is headed for more trouble, as an arrest warrant has been issued for him.
He was scheduled to go to court on March 29th, for charges of him impersonating a police officer, but he missed that date, leading to the warrant being put out. However, according to the NY Post, the action will not be activated if he shows up to his next court appearance due in June.
The charges he has accrued stem from an August 2006 incident where Game hailed a cab, and ordered the driver to run several red lights, stating that “he was an undercover police offer.” Unfortunately for Game, the driver caught the attention of a real officer, and Game was arrested.
The Game pleaded Not Guilty to the to the charges in January, and his council released a statement, saying: “The police are harassing him,” the rapper’s attorney, Jeffrey Lichtman, explained after the court in January. “It’s an embarrassment for them. The cops follow him from the moment he lands to the moment he leaves. A limo driver freaked out, that’s it. They are harassing him, but there will be some harassment going the other way at the trial.”
The Game’s next court date is on June 13.
