In a rather comprehensive interview (See: Lil Wayne In Complex Mag), Weezy expressed his thoughts on 50 calling him a whore for saturating the market with a bevy of collabos ranging from Enrique Iglesias to Gym Class Heroes.

The Carter is a classic period. Lyrically, it held its weight versus any of the albums out at that time. I couldn't stand Wayne before that album but it was truly a coming of age. The Carter II, may not be classic, but it's damn close and was extremely creative. Also, remember that most "Classics" aren't considered "Classics" until years later(Reasonable Doubt, Cuban Linx, etc.) And to compare him to Pac, Nas etc. remember he's like 25 and at 25 he's just as if not more advanced of an artist than Jay-Z or Big(who hadn't dropped a major release yet, only features and mixtape joints.).15 years in the game at 25. 13 more years he will be the same age Jay is now, imagine him then.
