It looks like despite The Carter III being all over the internet for anyone to hear, Lil Wayne the rapper eater himself wont suffer from any hunger pains, as Tha Carter III has been projected to sell between 850,000-950,000 albums in its first full week of sales.
In a report from Entertainment, the album is on its way to passing both of 2008's highest selling first week albums, and has the ability to give hip hop its first chart topper since Kanye West last album.
Pat Monaco the Executive VP of sales at Universal Motown Republic Group tried to explained the reason for what may be such astronomical sales in what has otherwise been another down year in record sales.
"The sales the first few hours were exceeding the rate that the Kanye album sold a year ago. Tha Carter III was one of these records that, because it was so highly anticipated, with the leaks and everything, it caused more people to go out at eight in the morning to buy the CD."
He went on to call Lil Waynes recording process unorthadoxed and cited it as another reason for what looks like it will a positive first weeks sales.
"We were like putting a traditional set-up and street date on a guy that was just nontraditional. It changed dates, changed titles, changed songs, changed the people that were working on it. But sonically, the record bears out."
Tha Carter III officially hit the stores yesterday June 10th and featured the lead single Lollipop.

Now about some flops…It’s going to happen, deal with it. Most artists are not able to adjust and adapt to the changing music economy. Sometimes a great album is slept on ( Ghostface, Freeway, Scarface) because the whole rap industry has changed. Fans are starting to find other music to listen to, simply because they cant relate anymore. I tunes, limewire and a othe p2p sites also have somethign to do with numbers. If you release a 14 track Cd and only 6-7 songs are bangers, why spend 15$ on a whole Cd, when you can spend .99 cents a track and maybe only spend 7.00$?? Those factors only work against hip hop.
In the end the only way an album dosent flop is if people actually purchase the music. So if youre on here bitchin about shit YOU can control, shut the fuck up, go spend some cheese and support your artist(s).

What Defines a classic album: an album that can stand the test of time, a album that you can play all the way through which means you like every song on it not saying I only like this song or that song, a classic album will be played today tomorrow and til the end of time, a classic album is more than a bunch of gimmicks leading up to the album, a classic album will be number one on the charts for months, and last but not least a classic album will have people talking about the hot lyrics not one of you wayne fans qouted anything he said hot on that album.
One more thing if this was a classic than 90% of the comments would say it’s a classic no matter what they think of the artist there millions of people that hate 50 cent but no one will ever doubt that “get rich or die trying” was a classic. about 75% of everyone who left comments says the album is whack or medioker now if you like the album thats good for you but proof is already showing that its far from a classic.

as to eminem hes cool, but his albums dont get bumped in the hood , i cant realate to his albums, and i hear pac big n jay , i rarely ever hear eminems name as one of the best, he gets no luv in the hood
I dont from know what hood you but in my hood people bump em people bump wayne to but you know what the diffrence is nobody bumps waynes albums only his mixtapes I dont know to many people who own wayne albums maybe mixtapes but not albums.
I guarentee almost everybody on this site has at least two em albums no matter if its bottlegged or bought and most people have wayne mixtapes.

In hip-hop there’s maybe been one or two instant classics EVER & the rest that have been considered “classics” have taken time to evolve into a CLASSIC.
I can’t even lie… this CD has been bumping in my PC for a good 2 weeks now (with the bootleg) & I still copped a copy cause it was good. There were a few songs I could do without but for the most part it was a solid effort, & versatile as fuck.

I don’t know how people felt about his last couple of bars but tha way he tied that ish together and said “Welcome back Hip-Hop I saved your life”, was like tha time I was watching “Slow Burn” or “Crash” and everything unfolded in climatic fashion, it was a definitely a classic track to me

Carter 3? Is a good album (This is my opinion). But it isn’t Timeless. Like I said he was outshinned by alot of the beats. And alot of his ryhmes are immature. He’s got alot of growing up to do as far as being a young man and and artist.

if he was gon fall off I’m pretty sure he would’ve falled off a long time ago when is album got leaked the first time around. All buzz with no album in sight and yet now he finally puts it out with it being leaked again and still does numbers… on top of over 1000 guest appearances on songs throughout music (not only hip-hop)
