Lil Wayne Helps Rebuild, Reports From The Red Carpet
by on January 12th, 2009
Hip Hop power player Lil Wayne is helping to restore his hometown by donating $200,000 to rebuild New Orleans’ Harrell Park, the rappers childhood playground.
According to reports, the park was being used as a trailer site for Sewerage and Water Board workers in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
Due to heavy equipment and machinery being used, the park's track field and community center were ruined.
Wayne hopes that this will help kids steer clear of trouble in what is reported to be one of New Orlean's more violent neighborhoods.
“You can't really tell them (kids) what to do these days,” Lil’ Wayne stated to Louisiana’s WWLTV.
“When you tell them what to do, that's when they get angry when you tell them be like me because it's hard to be like me. So, the best thing you can tell them is try to do right.”
In related news, Wayne has been tapped by ESPN to report from the red carpet at their 5th annual NEXT party.
The private, V.I.P. event, which kicks off at 9 p.m. on January 30th in Tampa, Florida, is designed to highlight what is next in sports, technology, and lifestyle.
The assignment is the latest in ESPN’s relationship with the New Orleans rapper, who often serves as a blogger for ESPN.com.

Weezy is onnnnnn his own dick as always
That “positive” park in that small area can’t compare to the impact that your “negative” BLOOD talk on every song does.
If you really wanna impact some lives…how about doing a positive song? At least you know it’ll reach 1000 x’s more kids than your park in your hometown neighborhood will.
I guess u gotta start somewhere…I guess…
