Alright, I am new to the whole damn thing, here. So, let me get things into perspective. Lil' Wayne is upset cuz his latest score "Like Father, Like Son" LP did not make a dent in the industry. And, he is still riding off the success of "The Carter II". Now, quite frankly, the album was decent. It was not the best that I though a rapper could put out. He is a decent artist. His mixtapes are pretty good, I gotta admit. But, to claim that he is the greatest rapper of all time? C'mon now! That's a lil' extreme. He is good, but, not the greatest of all time. Lyrically, he needs to step it up a couple more notches before he can call himeself "the Greatest". But, if your always rhymin bout jewelry or cars or bangin' chicks every week is rhyming, well...you are not the greatest. A great MC must be able to use words and syllables to create hamrony, along with speaking his/her mind about their lives, society, politics, etc. Wayne, since the beginning of his Cash Money days, always rhymes the same, simple things and how to hustle. That's nice, however, when you use to be in that perdicament. He now lives in a mansion, on a hill, with security and does not live that lifestyle and rebels in the Commercial Fame. He won't become "The Greatest MC of All Time" if he can't get out of the rutt that he has dug himself in.
Now that I ramble my fuckin head off bout that, lets get to the real issue here. He needs to stick to his true feelings about Jay Z and whether the "diss" in the Complex mag was taking outta context or not. Cuz, quite frankly, he's pissed cause Jay decided to come back and make a new record. Now, I'll admit "Kingdom Come" is not the greatest album that Jay has ever put together. However, there are still shines of light that shows that Jay still has what it takes to continue to rap. Wayne is just too cocky to allow someone else to get their shine in the spotlight for a second. And, to "diss" Pharrell as to call him "weird". Honestly, do you think that he is offended by that remark? The man is one-half of the most highly popular, grammy award-winning, multy-platinum production team of the Neptunes. Until you can get up to that status, stay in your place! Shut you mouth and stay in your lane!
As for the Clipse, I dig those dudes. "Hell Hath No Fury" is, by far, the most refreshing album of the year, right now, in Hip Hop. These dudes are coming up and have a good future ahead of them. Wayne is becoming a cry baby and cannot face the facts that there are many great MCs coming up on his coattails. If he continues to act like the way he is, he is either gonna lose credibility from his piers or that he can become washed up very quickly if he does not catch his lip quickly.
Overall, I am not totally bannin' Lil' Wayne, don't get me wrong. He's a good MC to listen to, every now and again. But, he should just keep his mouth shut and stick to what he does best. There will never be "The Greatest MC of All Time" in my mind or possibly many. That would ruin ever listening to music at all. It is great to always listen to different artists and see their range and growth. The Hip Hop game should just give people their credit and acknowledge them for their achievements and not always go for the throat everytime. Battle each other, compete and bring out the best in one another. Stop hating or synitchin on one another.
