Tha Carter 3 is the most anticipated album of Lil Wayne’s career. On the eve of this, he sat down with XXL to clear a few things up.
I, personally, among others,would like to know what inspired Lil Wayne to up the ante with his lyrics. He attempted to explain his transition from old to new with this:
“Ain’t no transition. I ain’t worried about what people realizing, ’cause if I start worrying about when they gon’ realize, then I’d be crazy. It ain’t about that. I told you who I am. I’m the nigga that creatively do the stuff I want and make y’all realize it. And I don’t give a fuck if y’all realize it or not. I’ma keep doing me. That’s what I am, that’s who I am and that’s why I’m the best.” This doesn’t exactly answer my(or anyone else’s) question, but let’s move on to my next thought.Constantly being accused of having a ghostwriter for his most critically acclaimed albums, Tha Carter 1, and Tha Carter 2, Wayne attempts to dispel the rumors in this quote directed at Gillie: ” I don’t get it. How you could write for me and I don’t write? I’m rich as a muthafucka, and you wrote for me? Then why aren’t you rich? If I wrote for a nigga and this nigga’s on top of the world right now, I’d be like, “Where’s my fuckin’ money? Where’s my benefits?” I heard this nigga do an interview and say he got like $30 thousand a song. Show me one of them $30 thousand checks you got from writing for me. Show me, ’cause I don’t know what you wrote for me. I don’t write nothing, dawg. The only time I touch the pad is for someone else.”
These sound like the words of a man covering up, now claiming that he doesn’t write, just like another famous MC- An MC that he had words for, Jay-Z. Earlier this year in interviews, saying that he is “The Best Rapper Alive”, and “I’m better than Jay-Z”, hear his words for the God now that reality has set in:“I’m glad you brought that up, ’cause I wanna apologize to Jay and his family and friends, because I was asked that question and they put it in there like I was just feeling like, “Oh, you know what, nigga? I’m better than Jay!” They came at me like, “So you say you’re the best. Can you say that you’re better than everybody? Would you say you’re better than Jay?” I was like, “Yeah, nigga, I’m better than everybody!” But I’d like to throw that apology out there ’cause of whatever trouble I caused, I ain’t want that to happen.”
WHAT?! Yes Lil Wayne fans, straight from the horses’ mouth. He’s SORRY. (I know some of you are slitting your wrists right now).
Lil Wayne,at this point in time seems to be trying to figure things out with himself, as he is alienating the very things and people that made him successful. Even stooping so low as to make this remark to DJ Drama via the NY Times, in response to the recent RIAA raid:
“He needs to smarten up. He[Drama] Will have to play the game fair now.”
Weezy is digging a hole so deep right now… that I don’t think he can crawl out of..

Wayne said that he didnt write a few yrs back when the carter 1 was released. he admitted that once he heard jay-z aint write, he stopped writing. so he aint tryin to cover up nothin. stop hatin 4 once and give dude props. if gillie was writin for him, he aint writin 4 him now, and dediation 2 and like father like son was both hot. so how do u explain that? wait i kno…somebody else is writing for him now….riiiight
