In a recent interview with Rhapsody, Budden claims the track is not really a diss record but rather just an artist expressing his frustration and trying to get a point across.
"It was disrespectful, but it was a diss with a point: Stop rapping. Hang it up. You’re getting paid to be a president. Be a president. We loved you as a rapper. One of the best to ever do it. Now it’s time to do some other things."
"He needs to be a president and start putting out some fucking artists." Said Budden.
"When I start getting into saying things about Jay-Z or Def Jam, I’m not speaking to try and get anyone to feel the way I’m feeling. Which is why I say it’s not a diss. ‘Cause I’m not trying to sway anyone’s opinion." He continued.
"If the title president wasn’t on him, then it wouldn’t be anything for me to say. I heard the complaints from Beans, LL Cool J, Freeway, DMX and Ludacris. If a million people are calling you a duck, then you probably need to look in the mirror." Said Budden when asked if Jay should still be rapping.
In other news…
Budden, who's last album was his self titled debut in 2003, says he's planning on releasing an independent album in the spring entitled, The Padded Room.
"I’m going to put out an album in the spring called Padded Room independently. And then, in the summer time, this process will be done. " Budden tells Rhapsody.
"Everything is in-house. It’ll be an off-branch of Mood Muzik 3. Same feel, same vibe. It’ll just be an album, instead of a mixtape. But Padded will probably be a digital album."

I see wat you're trying to say, but that comment is false brotha. Nas put out his best three albums(Illmatic, IWW, I AM) before the whole Jay situation. "It was written" to this day is Nas's best selling album. So your whole theory about Nas gaining more popularity after Jay is not on point. Jay been on Nas' nuts (Listen to Reasonable Doubt and Vol.1, it has Nas' influence all over it). If anything the battle with Nas helped move Jay to a legendary status because he held his own (even though he lost) against Nas, who was easily considered the best lyricist in the game. Jay at that point in time (98-01) was known as a commercial rapper who just put out pop hits. His battle wit Nas helped ppl recognize Jay as a true Emcee and not just as a commercial rapper.
Understandable. NaS' first 3 albums WERE his best, but speaking as a person who used to live on the east coast while these albums were put out, NaS' buzz was mainly east coast. Really. Out here in Dallas, niggas didnt pay attention to NaS much until he put out Ether.....I hear it from almost everyone I ask about NaS. Jay has been on NaS' jock, yeah. 60% is just a guess, not really an accurate response....basically stating a little more than half the Current NaS fanbase didnt really know or listen to him until he put out Ether...if you look back, yeah the first 3 albums were his best, but no one really paid attention til they did a little homework.
