The rapper who along with former partner, Damon Dash, brought Rocawear to the forefront of urban fashion will try to do the same with Eminem’s Shady clothing line and Young Jeezy’s 8732 apparel.
“It’s a thing for us,” Jay tells MTV. “All of us, we had the same type of struggle to impart some of that wisdom. I may know a little bit more about clothing at this particular time than Jeezy, but he’s flying lower than me, so he may know more about what’s going on in the streets a little quicker than I. Not much quicker, but a little quicker.”
The “I Will Not Lose” campaign, which is scheduled to launch Aug. 15 on iwillnotlose.org, will be presented in a series of short documentary-style testimonies from various individuals dressed in Rocawear, who share how they overcame major obstacles in their lives.
Viewers can become a part of the ad campaign by submitting videos telling their stories of survival on iwillnotlose.org for voting. Two of the top-voted individuals will be featured in the spring-summer Rocawear campaign.
