The albums, which are both artist’s 3rd major LPs are scheduled to go head to head on September 11th. However, 50 Cent doesn’t think it’ll happen.
In a recent interview, 50 told Hot 97’s Funk Master Flex that he is doubtful of Kanye staying on the scheduled release date.
“I hope that they see and understand what’s getting ready to happen. I’m not moving. I’m coming September 11th. If Kanye come that day, then he come that day. That’d be great if he actually stays in that date. I think his people are smart. And he’s smart too. And I think they’ll move… Jay’s not gonna let that happen anyway. He’s not gonna leave him there.” Said 50.
Well it looks like Jay Z is going to let it happen after all.
“I think it’s great, I think it’s a fantastic day for hip-hop,” Jay told MTV. “I remember having those dates [facing against] Outkast a couple of times. I actually had one with G-Unit [with Beg for Mercy]. It’s great. It’s a fantastic thing for hip-hop, especially retail. I know they’re loving it. You’re driving people to the store. We love it, we think it’s a fantastic thing.” He continued.
Kanye West’s “Graduation” and 50 Cent’s “Curtis” will hit stores on 9/11/2007.
In related news, attorneys for Jay-Z and his business partner, “O.G.” Juan Perez, filed papers in federal court yesterday (July 30) claiming that the two men are merely shareholders in the popular sports bar, The 40/40 Club, and have no involvement in the nightspot’s day-to-day operations.
The rapper came under fire in May of this year when a former waitress filed suit against him and the club’s management claiming that she and other employees were paid below minimum wage.
According to the New York Post, Jay’s lawyers assert that the rapper has “no role in payroll” whatsoever.
