Man, it's generally not going to be racist, although obviously there are racist festival goers in the UK, as there are everywhere.
The reality is that Jay-Z is not hugely popular or widely regarded in the UK; something which made me underestimate his importance in hip-hop for a long time. There are other hip-hop artists who would have gained wider support as a headline at Glastonbury.
Even saying that, Glastonbury is not known as a place to go for hip-hop; the vast majority of people going there are probably going primarily to see Indie, Rock and Heavy Metal bands, with minorities going for other types of music or the general experience. This at least, is true as far as it goes for everybody I know; and the majority of the people I know who have gone went for this reason. In fact, the vast majority of these friends would be disappointed with ANY hip-hop artist, especially one with a relatively low standing in the UK; and I think they my friends are probably typical of my generation.
Most rock and indie music fans in the UK despise hip-hop; I am regularly teased and criticised by the people I meet about my love for this music.
And from what I've seen, racism is less prominent in the UK than in the US; my cousins came over from Florida last year and said that they had never seen so many mix-race couples, and I quote, "there will never be so many mixed race couples in America." Just an opinion, but I hope my comment will shed some light on British musical cultue and race relations for those Americans here who might never have had the chance to visit.

Glastonbury fans are probably not as stupid as you think; many university students go. As far as bottling goes, a short search online came up with no instances of bottling at Glastonbury.
I have seen bottling occur in the Reading Festival a few years back; however, the band that was bottled was a teen pop group called Daphne and Celeste, and they appeared in the middle of the day between, if I remember correctly, the heavy metal bands Slipknot and Rage Against the Machine, amidst a crowd of tens of thousands of inebriated rock fans. From what I've been told though, Glastonbury has a different atmosphere and crowd to the Reading Festival, and I think it highly unlikely Jay-Z would be bottled.
