However, this list was compiled before the finalization of the Coca Cola- Glaceau deal, which saw 50 Cent $100 million richer recently.
“It speaks to transcendence of hip-hop into the popular culture,” Forbes’ associate editor Lee Goldman told NYC’s Daily News. “And it has nothing to do with the music. You’re seeing a ‘brand’ of musicians who makes their money from their business ventures.”
Jay-z has been a busy man this year, scoring partnerships with Coca Cola, General Motors (who have granted him his own car color), and even Iconix Brand Group, to whom he sold the Rocawear clothing line for 204$ Million. He is reportedly also in talks with champagne manufacturers Armand De Brignac, most known for their “Ace of Spades” logo.
