The Brooklyn bred rapper took the time however to address the proposed talks by congress to censor hip hop as well as the Don Imus controversy on his latest LP, American Gangster.
In the"Ignorant Shit" remix featuring Beanie Sigel, Jay takes aim at the attempt by many to censor lyrics in hip hop in what was dubbed the"From Imus to Industry: The Business of Stereotypes and Degradation" Congressional hearing.
"I missed the part where it stopped being about Imus, What do my lyrics got to do with this SHIT?"
"SCARFACE the movie did more than Scarface the rapper to me
Still that ain't the blame for all the shit that's happened to me
Are you saying what I'm spitting, Is worse than these celebutantes showin' they kid-- you kidding?
Lets stop the bullshittin'"
Jay Z Feat. Beanie Sigel- Ignorant Shit
Jay Z didn't stop there--continuing his objection on the following track, Say Hello, taking shots at Al Sharpton and even commenting on Jenna 6.
And if Al Sharpton is speaking for me
In other news…
Somebody get him the word and tell him i don't approve
Tell him i'll remove the curses
If you tell me our schools gon' be perfect
When Jena 6 don't exist Tell him THAT's when i'll stop saying bitch---BIIITCH!
Jay Z- Say Hello
"American Gangster" was released last Tuesday, November 6th. According to Billboard.com, the LP is on pace to achieve Jay's 10th number 1 debuting album--placing him one place beneath the Beatles (who have 19) and tying him with Elvis Presley for second place among artists with the most chart-toppers,

This is a hot album a tha track are fire
all dese damn people on here is dick riders. music is good or bad. and has the whole package. so someone who got it all is jay-z at 10 number 1 albums. i dont ride his dick though even though he is da best in the game. yall fail to realize that, that is not an opinion thats a to date proven fact. And i doubbt da dude dats 1st was talkin to jay-z. i assume he talkin to the person who wrote this article. niggah dis is rap. jay da biggest thing in rap. like da beatles was the best thing to these whyte people..etc.. watever genre dey under.dats wat i mean by wyte regardless to who listen to it. wat its called pop. jay-z so mufukin known he can take over the fucking pop genre. pop not da type its the amount of popularity.
this article is inaccurate. jay-z actually says, "Are you saying what I'm spitting, Is worse than these celebutantes showin' they KITTEN-- you kidding?" not kid, kitten.
The Al Sharpton one at the end of Say Hello had me ballin'...but its real
Got to get album today. Man yall better smarten up they really are trying to censor hip-hop you dont know how big that is. CENSOR HIP-HOP dude yall sit and think about that. I let yall marinate on this one.
i got that album and its pretty nice
im tired of this LAME 1life always got something smart to say to the vets of this site, nigga you just signed up at defsounds and news flash: no one likes your dumb young ignorant ass quit "trashin" every single persons comments, JOKESTA already banned you once don't push your luck young quad you treaddin thin ice..
The 1st amendment is a mutha*ucker!
thats true about the 1st amendment but the shit is we pissed away all our freedoms with the patriot act so now the goverment can actually get way with shit like censorship among other things
dat boi jay let imus an sharpton have it by the way american gangster lived up 2 expectations a.k.a. ITS A BANGER
I copped the album yesterday and I've only listened to half of it up to this point but its a good listen so far. Sometimes his lyrics seem to get boring though, it seems as though he's just babbling along and not putting emphasis on any of his lyrics. The lyrics are in the book when you buy the album and I've read just about all of em and I don't see too much of anything that stands out like there were in his previous works.
Til this day my altime favorite Jay-Z rhyme is from the 2nd verse of 22 2's on That Reasonable Doubt:
adminster pain, next the minister's screamin your name
At your wake as I peak in, look in your casket
feelin sarcastic, "Look at him, still sleepin"
You never ready, forever petty minds stay petty
Mines thinkin longevity until I'm seventy
Livin heavenly, fuck, felony after felony, what?
That's the type of shit I wanted to hear with this album. Dont get me wrong because it's cool so far, but if your looking for a complete career resurrection then this is not it.
Nigga ya broke, what the fuck you gon' tell me?
I put the last line in the wrong place, but when are they gon' do a review for the album on here, I'm anxious to see what they give it.
My fave Jay-Z verse of all time is probably the 3rd verse on Street's Is Watchin' off of Vol. I... He absolutely MURDERED that joint!
All yall that keep lookin for Hov to spit the same rhymes he spit on past albums need to stop. Every album he make show growth and maturity. Kingdom Come even went over a lot of people heads. He don't need no "career resurrection" the man got 10 #1 albums. Holla at LL for that
cosign homie, and I concur with charismatic that was a hot verse:
The life and times of a demonic mind/
excited with crime/
And the lavish luxuries that just excited my mind/
I figured, Shit why risk myself I just write it in rhymes/
And let you feel me, and if you don't like it then fine'/
But my personal favorite is off vol.2
I'm a hop skip and a jump from grippin the pump/
Spittin a couple of curse words, and hittin you chump/
Shit, I get digits in lumps/
I'm a motherfuckin problem, is this what you want?/
Overachiever, I love chicks that puff cheeba/
in reefer paper I hate the ones that blow up ya beeper/
Cause I, go in ya deeper, I only bone divas/
Impregnate the world when I "cum" through your speakers/ (ha ha)
Fuck hot, my records got the fever/
Niggas kick dirt, get ya whole block sweeped up/
I creep up when the beef heats up/
Caught him with his feet up and shoes off,
bout to snooze off/
Hatin, cause you can't turn the booze off
You dudes is too soft/
why I don't fuck with you all.
my fav jay line WE USED TO FIGHT 4 BUILDING BLOCKS NOW WE FIGHT 4 BLOCKS WITH BUILDINGS THT MAKE AH KILLING....THIS ALBUM NICE AS HELL THO....BEST WRK TO ME SINCE BLUEPRINT
Nigga you don't even have the album. DP3 is not on the official album - maybe the bootlegged copy.
man Jay came correct on this one the album is CRAKKKKK
The Album OK...I Feel Like He Rushed It. He Didn't Really Go Hard, He Was Jus Rappin Like He Got 3 Other Albums Comin Out To Make Up For This One
maybe he does
Im impressed with the album from beginning to end. Highlights for me is tracks 2-3-5-6-9-10-11-12-13....will be one of his best albums ever when the smoke clears.
Thank you...these simple motherfuckas got so used to being TRICKED by a HOTT BEAT or CATCHY HOOK...or even worse a FUCKIN' NEW DANCE, that when someone like a Jay or NAS spits some witty shit... you fuckas can't comprehend and think that he fell off!
Who the fuck wants to hear some dummed-down shit?
As far as I'm concerned...The Greats...are getting Greater!
~Be Eazy!
the best song in this album is "success" featuring Nas. Jay z and Nas Ripped it up!
Best track on that album is Say Hello but overall its one of the best albums to come out in a minute. As much of a Kanye fan I am i'm going to say that this was a better album to me then Graduation. Even 'I Know' which I originally hated is growing on me. 8.5/10 for me
JAY hip-hip glad to see the lyrics being broken down cuz most people don't listen to lyrics nah mean, listen and learn
You right. The man lyrics are so crazy. Damn near everything he says has a double meaning. To me this is the best album he did lyrically... U hear Cass talkin bout Hov aint got it and when u see Hov album u gon see Cass album? I like Cass so I hope he don't flop but he should stay in his own lane.
that is ill man say hello mofos
LMAO...
Nigga please..frontin' like you wouldn't go downtown if Beyonce asked you to
alot of people hate on hov but I mean his success and influence on the game speaks for itself.I can see this album easily becoming one of his best.
American Gangster is a classic in my eyes. Beautifully done!

co-sign
yes sir
i aint seen so many trashed comment on 1 fukin article lol
finally, SOMEone stood up to al sharpton and told him to shut the fuck up and stop thinkin he knows whats goin on.
im tired of this LAME 1life always got something smart to say to the vets of this site, nigga you just signed up at defsounds and news flash: no one likes your dumb young ignorant ass quit "trashin" every single persons comments, JOKESTA already banned you once don't push your luck young quad you treaddin thin ice..
This album just solidifies Hov's status in the game. I heard he put the album together in a short amount of time. Hov out of control. That Fallin joint is a sleeper. Him and Nas shoulda been squshed they beef cuz they coulda been puttin bangers like Success out a long time ago... He already the GOAT next stop is the billi.
DAMN CASSIDY, WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU BEATIN JAY IN SALES.... JUST LIKE 50 VS. KANYE, 50 SAID HE WAS GON WIN BUT YE TOOK IT, SO ITS LIKE CASS SAID HE WAS GON WIN BUT JAY IS TAKIN IT
Betta luck next tyme cass, remember I downloaded ur CD for free
Moral of both stories: don't try to go up against the ROC, they're already strong, shit who's gonna come up against them now that Jada's coming through? If only Big L made it through and Lupe didn't run with 1st and 15th...actually naw I think that's too much talent on one roster; overkill forreal
Jay-Z stopped by shade 45 today and said he was working on a song with Ja, and maybe even getting X on it as well... he also said that Gotti was at the Roc Boys Video shoot, and that hes gunna be working with him on Gotti's Way... Big News..
Ja is coming back in a major way...people hate just to hate ja. Y'all are just obeying 50 when he jacked the ja rule formula to success. I know the song they recorded together and I've read about it...just be on the look out ...
Ja straight. Everybody was feelin him back in the day. It's too bad 50 sorry ass had to try downtalk Ja and make hisself look better. In a way, Ja is like Jay. His music matured since his "holla holla" days. Difference is is that lyrically Ja couldn't withstand 50 assault. 50 spun it a different way and made niggaz think he was soft and all that. U see what happened when he came at Jay. That shit was over before it started and 50 decided to fall back. I think people will feel Ja again now that they startin to turn they back on 50. Why nobody aint callin 50 out for doin way more pop music than Ja ever did?
Not even my favorite verse... but it's some of the realest shit ever spoken...
"Rap music is something ain't it? The way these pictures is painted
You swear these niggas is dangerous, the gangsta shit they be saying
Lock em up in the booth with a half ounce of that cannabis
Sit back, and watch the outlandish shit they portraying
But, soon as you see em they freeze up like in museums
Them statues, you like, "Is that the dude, that said he was gonna (pop you)"
Niggas get running before you finish ya sentence
And then they back to riffing, when they off at the safe distance
You like, you was just here, you disappear like magicians
In thin air, I'm like damn, nigga at least keep it consistent
I hear you baiting me lately, I been doing my best just to stay hater free
Still watch what you say to me
Sooner or later I take you up on your offer
And put you all in ya place like I'm replacing ya father
You talking, to the author, the architect of The Blueprint
My DNA in ya music, muthafucka you stupid?"
~Be Eazy!
dat shyt is so relevant 2day its a dam shame
that song was the sickest song on T.I album. Jay-Z murked T.I on his own shit.
i wouldnt go that far, i don't even like t.i. foreal but he kept pace with jay he was cool on that track..
Shit waaas Hott!
~Be Eazy!
Jay's the man. He speaks the real in his music and does it cleverly. With that point being stated, it's easy to see why he's the best doing it and he's ALMOST everybody's favorite rapper! If you don't have that album, (American Gangster) GO GET IT! I'm tellin' ya....it's the 2007 Reasonable Doubt. What EVERYBODY asked of Jay! So support him! Buy the album! Don't bootleg people!!!
this is not RD in anyway shape or form there are way too many weak points for it to be considered as strong an album and even be mentioned up there. This album is great though. I Say RD, Vol. 1 then AG
Jay at his best
Jay album was hot. from the lyrics to the track order it was jigh nice! its about time a decent album dropped this year cuz u get tired of hearin lil wayne washed up ass mixtapes and all dis YUUUHA (soulja boy)shit ery day! but on that note JIGGA IS BACK! time for these lame ass artists out here to stepthey shit up asap!
