Ice Cube Talks New Video And Possible Nas/Scarface Album

by reign on October 7th, 2008

http://media.defsounds.com/uploads/assets/768/792/10660/asset.jpegIn a recent interview with a hip-hop website, Los Angeles representative, Ice Cube, discusses his new album, new video and a possible upcoming collaboration that could become a classic.

The rapper/actor/director spoke about his new album saying, "I knew with Laugh Now, Cry Later it was more of a reintroduction. I wasn’t sure if all the antennas would be up to listen to what I really had to say...I had to make a record to show I could more or less still rap on that tip. On this one I could give more of that street knowledge. The timing of the presidential election just fell into place.”

The 3rd single off of the album, titled "Why Me", produced a video that portrays the emotions of innocent murder victims as well as how the problem of gun violence reaches and affects people all over the world. He explains, "What I wanted to do [in the video] was use real people, not a whole bunch of actors. I wanted to show people who were really victims of that kind of violence...So once I knew I was gonna do that I knew the video had the ability to be powerful once we tied it together. We had different scenes of the hood, Somalia, and the Middle East to show it wasn’t a hood issue, but a world problem. And with (director) Benny Boom it would be hard to mess that concept up.”

While Houston rapper Scarface had announced last week that his next album Emiritus would be his last, he mentioned that he had a strong desire to craft one final album...a dream supergroup project between himself, Nas, and Ice Cube.

Cube, who was visibly excited about the idea said, “Of course, I wouldn’t even think twice about doing that…hell yeah!....I think the album would be crazy, lyrics would be sick, and Hip-Hop would love it. It’s just making that business happen, that’s the part that gets funky. I ain’t never turned down these kind of projects, they just don’t happen for whatever reasons. But I’m up for some s**t like this because I know we can make a dope record.”

damn man the kings of their respective regions teamin up huh? that would b some raw shit n nothing like that has really ever been done outside of mixtapes that r just pieced together. unfortunately i dont c it happening, kinda like i cant feel my face, cuz they all on different labels n they r the ones that really r in control of what is put out. i doubt 3 different labels could come together n agree on something cuz as we all know big corporations r the shit holes of our world n business. they r the diahrea of music. so even tho 3 dope artists would b more than happy to do it record labels would not allow it.

Yo I FEEL you, I am just so scared to use that word cuz 2 me it is sacred. Anything can happen, I don’t have to point out other “instant classic”/What the hell hapened?? albums. While this could very well be Nasty Nas – AmeriKKKa’s Worst Nightmare Cube – Geto Boys Face, it could be Nas Escobar – Are We There Yet Cube – Well, fuck it there is no time in Face’s career that I am disappointed in. That may not = Classic. I do hope it does though. PEACE Come check out The Livin’ Large Morning Show Hip-Hop/N.F.L. Shows how much you respect these legends and how much you know about hip hop: NOTHING! Ice Cube wrote the majority of NWA’s (except MC Ren’s) lyrics, put out classics such as Amerika’s Most Wanted, Death Certificate, The Predator, and The War Disc. Scarface, being one of my favorite rappers (so I’m obviously offended) created the Geto Boys, held, and still is holding along with Bun B, Rap-A-Lot Records, and dropped classics such as The Diary, The Untouchable, My Homies, The Last of a Dying Breed, and The Fix. And Nas put out possibly the greatest hip-hop album of all-time in Illmatic, as well as other classics such as It Was Written, I Am… (I don’t care what anyone says, this album was great and Scarface and DMX were on it too), Stillmatic, God’s Son, Hip Hop Is Dead, and Untitled. All three are highly respected and highly revered. Out of these guys, Scarface is my favorite. Honestly, who is your favorite rapper? And you better not say Tupac or Biggie because some of the three guys I mentioned are better than the both of them. Rakim is better than the both of them! You can’t tell me that Ice Cube, Nas, and Scarface are washed up or fallen off. I bought Laugh Now, Cry Later and enjoyed it. I bought Hip Hop Is Dead and Untitled and loved both of them. And I got three Scarface albums (The Diary, The Untouchable, and MADE) and had to buy The Fix after hearing On My Block. These men deserved their respect, especially from you with your duhhhhhhhhhhhh comment. Away with you, mark.

ur a fucking idiot chosen one. all 3 MADE the 90s. nas in my opinion started the golden age. cubes dropped a couple good albums this decade, face hasnt really been relevant but nas struggling to remain relevant?

u must b a 50 dick rider or somethin. who u think is holdin down the south lil flip or plies or lil wayne or somethin u dumb faggot. next ill hear u say jay z is washed up n bp3 is gonna suck. shut ur mouth, dont read articles n post just to hate, u already knew what the fucking story was about before u read it so for u to just come in here just to say that ur a real bitch, a huge one, go grab a tampon n some yogurt pussy
