To many, Dr. Dre is seen as a legendary producer who, through his entire production catalogue and musical accomplishments, has greatly influenced hip hop as we know it today.
It now seems that there’s a newcomer who wants to follow in his footsteps to achieve the same success, and it is none other than Dr. Dre’s son, Hood Surgeon, who is preparing to release his official album “The Autopsy of Curtis Young,” on July 24.
The album will detail Hood Surgeon’s life growing up in Compton California, and in an interview given to Allhiphop.com, Surgeon explains the circumstances surrounding the content of the album: “It’s like, you know you’re gonna hear the struggle I went through. Motherfuckers can [check up on] my shit and see what I been through and where I grew up at, and they’ll see that I’m not lying. I’m not gonna say I was out there shooting motherfuckers and doing all that, but I grew up around that, so I might speak on something that happened around me in my music. They ain’t gonna hear me say something I didn’t do.”
To some it may seem surprising as to why Hood Surgeon has had to endure what he has given he’s the son of Dr. Dre. Although Surgeon was intent on becoming a producer at the age of 12, he was never able to meet Dr. Dre personally until the age of 21, at which time Surgeon decided to follow in his father’s footsteps: “I went through the same thing he been through. I met him when I was 21. I didn’t know him growin’ up. We just was right under each other’s noses basically, not knowing that, you know, that was my pop and he didn’t know I was his son.”
“The Autopsy of Curtis Young” is set to hit stores July 24, 2007 through Affluent Records, and features production from Knocturnal and guest appearances from Dr. Dre and David Banner.

I have never liked Hood Surgeon or his music. He opened up for Game last Spring Break in Rosarito, but then was talkin all kinds of shit about him 2 weeks later in a whole bunch of interviews......why didn't he confront him like a man when he was doing shows with him?????????????
Also, he says he doesn't want Dre to get any credit for anything he does because he didn't even meet Dre until he was like a teenager, so Dre really hasn't done anything for him musically except produce like 1 track. But then if you listen to his songs, he drops Dre's name more than Game?????????
