It's great that he won 3 (or 4) Grammys... but I really think he deserved to win Album of the Year. It was without a doubt the most popular album this year, caused the most controversy. It had a huge hit single, and was amazing in terms of the songs, lyrics and production. Add to the fact that Graduation sold probably the most out of any album in 2007, and you have your Album of the Year Grammy winner. No disrespect to Herbie Hancock.. but I haven't even heard of him until tonight. Meanwhile, Kanye was arguably the most talked about artist this year. I think he was robbed at the Grammys.
Luckily, his performance was the best out of anyones on the show, with the energetic "Stronger" and then following it up with the touching "Hey Mama". He really did well.

Congrats Kanyeezy!

you never heard of herbie hancock, yet you think that kanye should have won? some ignorance.

if we were looking towards who was talked most about during the year. it would probably go to fifty.

No, I haven't heard of him. My family and friends that I talked to after the show hadn't heard of him either. Maybe he's very talented. But I doubt that he brings quite what Kanye brings to the table. It's nothing against him personally. But obviously Hancock hasn't gained much mainstream attention if not a lot of people outside of his own genre know who he is. Meanwhile, Kanye is recognized by a lot of people, not just those who like rap music. And that's another reason why he should've won. His album appeals to more people and, like Kanye said himself, is bridging the gap between rap and other genres of music.

Download "Rock It", what I think was his HOTTEST track in the 80s... As soon as the keyboard comes in, you're gonna be like, "Oh, I heard this before..."

I mean Kanye is doing his thing and everything but Idk about best album of the year. And you can't really credit him so much with his lyrical quality and production this album because most of the tracks that credit him as a producer, he didn't really produce...his protege did. As for lyrical quality this album was ghostwritten big time by Common and Consequence so give Common album of the year.

In all honesty also I really wish Lupe Fiasco would get more recognition for his work because by far his album The Cool was on a completely different level regarding lyrics, wordplay, metaphors, and his story telling ability.

Man LISTEN, I told y'all dudes back in 06 & early 07 that Amy Winehouse was FIRE! EVERYBODY was hatin' like, "Nigga, we'nt know who no Amy Winehouse is.... Who the fuck is Amy Winehouse?" Dudes like, specifically for example Milehigh & Sqad, hated HARD.

Now she SHITTED on INDUSTRY ICONS AND POWERHOUSES, AHEM: BEYONCE, RIHANNA, CORINNE BAILEY RAE (MY GIRL!), JAY-Z, THE "DREAM", American Idol CARRIE UNDERWOOD, NELLY FURTADO, FERGIE, CHRISTINA AGUILERA, JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE, PAUL MCCARTNEY (A BEATLE, for those of you who "haven't heard of him"), MAROON 5, AND BON JOVI. And her PRODUCER, Mark Ronson, got producer of the year, naturally.

For those of you who haven't heard of Herbie Hancock, sheesh, you HAVE COMPUTER ACCESS damn it, Google him... do some research... get on Limewire.... BUY the damn album. I know my curiosity is peaked (re: the album, not him). I was up on his music in the 80s; my brother put me on. Whatever happened to people's older brothers and cousins puttin' them on to ish???

I was disheartened reading KingKoopa74's comments, but he IS A youngboy, so he gets a pass. JOKESTA, I LIKE this new system; I don't even have to ask for credentials anymore.

Congrats to Amy! Record of the Year (Rehab - beat out Umbrella & Irreplaceable), Song of the Year (Rehab - beat out Like A Star & Umbrella), Best New Artist, Best Female Pop Vocal Performance (Rehab - beat out Fergie (my dog!), Christina Aguilera, & Nelly Furtado), & Best Pop Vocal Album!

Lastly, I'LL BE DAMNED IF "GRADUATION" IS A BETTER ALBUM THEN "HIP HOP IS DEAD".... FUCK OUTTA HERRRRRE! The Grammys seem to never get it right when it comes to rap, but congrats Kanye anyway; I ain't no hater!

No lie, when I looked at how many awards Amy Winehouse won, the first thing I thought of was that day a few months ago when you kept going on and on about her. I was like "Who the hell is Amy Winehouse?" lol

Obviously this dude got a real good ear to all music, I gotta respect that dude.

Kanye's album sounded a little too poppy for me, but I guess you can't deny the numbers. I give him credit from a marketing standpoint. Artistically, I don't know if the album was that great or is everybody else's stuff is so bad. COngrats on the grammy though

* Best Rap Song Album for Graduation
* Best Rap Solo Performance for "Stronger" from Graduation
* Best Rap Song for "Good Life" from Graduation (with Aldrin Davis, Mike Dean, and Fajeem Najm)
* Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group for "Southside" (with Common)

Kanye won 4 grammys

Isnt it nice that a crackhead won song of the year? Not.. Plain White T's deserved that award. Instead a song that talks about not going to rehab wins it.. Its a shame the academy looks down on rap music. "Stronger" shoulda atleast been nominated for song of the year.

Did ya'll already forget Kanyes rant at the MTV awards when he sounded like a whiny little schoolboy bitch cuz he didnt get the props he thought he deserved? Gee why dont you play the race card AGAIN kanye, just like always. Not to mention your flamboyantly gay wardrobe. I CANT be the only one who is put off by his pompous, condescending attitude, thinking he was born a legend and everyone should bow down. It wasnt the best rap album either, it could have gone to nas or any other nominee . And whats wrong with the music playing? they do that to EVERYONE. why? cuz they know the fuckin time limit but kanye aint got respect for anyone but kanye.

Kanye takes risks musically and they pay off because his music is good. Southside is a HUGE jam. I love that shit. Him and common always rep they hood and do it right. They dont have to be gangsters to shine and I really like that.

Alicia keys is the best song writer alive right now. I wouldnt care if she got 10 grammys or no grammys.

No doubt....In order to separate yourself from the rest of the pack you have to take that risk musically. Fuck what everybody else doing....Create your own lane and keep pushing the music forward. Niggas like Common, Kanye, Talib, Jay, Nas, Mos Def, Dead Prez --- they all take that risk and I got much respect for those cats.
