According to the Philadelphia Daily News, police found 89 pounds of marijuana worth $400,000 and arrested six people after two FBI agents canvassing a neighborhood for an earlier cocaine case got a tip leading them two nearby homes. The Ringleader of the operation was identified as Gillie Da Kid.
A statement issued by Gillie’s camp said, “the charges are unwarranted and once Gillie has his day in court, we are confident that the evidence against him will prove to be false. The Philadelphia Police Department is clearly using Gillie’s status as a hip hop artist and entertainer to draw media attention to him. This was clearly a case of him being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Gillie is in no way guilty of the charges brought against him and once all facts come to light, he will be fully exhonerated.”
