Freeway Works On New Album, Talks Def Jam Grief

by JOKESTA

MONDAY JANUARY 7, 2008

Count Philly's Freeway amongst the many Def Jam rappers who aren't necessarily happy with the label.

In a recent interview with DJ Whookid, the rapper who also says he has no idea whats going on at the head quarters, also expressed his grievance after finding out Jay Z stepped down as president via the web.

"I don't know whats going on...I did my job..I'm in the streets..I'm promoting..I'm tryna get shit poppin."  He tells Whookid.

"I heard it on the internet...I'll be up there on Monday to see whats going on." He continued.

"I'm in the lab working on the next one already, Freedom Of Speech" He tells Whookid.

Damn Free! I'm glad to see he's hungry, after that long spell in between albums. I think he maybe upset because Hov left, not because Hov didn't treat him right. Free is one of the artists who followed Jay to Def Jam initially(I remember him and Juelz)so he probably was hoping to continue working under him. He'll be aiight though, if he maintains the work ethic he seems to have right now, and quality of music.

Yeah. That's why Lil' Wayne's Carter 3 leak sold less than 5,000. Your music may be hot, but people won't buy from you if they don't know that you're out there

shit i an't takin sides.since today is monday i hope that beans ,free and chris get they answers when they run up in defjam today and if not then raise hell in that bitch i an't blaming jay cause beans said it's not a one person thing and if beans really had problems with jay he wouldn't have been in vegas for newyears on stage with jay and bleek and the opnening of 40/40 throwing up no roc sign..

i believe it's someone else in that building on some bullshit . pointing the finger completely at jay-z seems absolutely retarded to me.yea jay need to have his boys back but i know it couldn't possibly just be HIM AND ALL HIM that's stupdid but like i said the roc boys betta fuck up the whole building till they get answers. kicking some ass .slashing tires sending niggas to the hospital in a ambalance. shooting up some offices .they deserve it.them dudes been in the game for to long and never had to go through this shit.something an't right the whole world of hiphop and it's fans can feel it.i hope the handle it. and hopefully jay is thinking of another plan to get his peeps up out what now have become a dump yard of a label

You got a point but how cums artists aint dissing no1 else at defjam but jayz, jayz doesnt tlk, his money tlks for him, its been the case since he became president, look, how cum ppl respect nas more than jay even tho jay is obviously on a higher platform than nas?? ppl respect nas as a person, ppl dont respect jay, they respect his money, he got power, have ur boyz, back them up when it cums to promotion and album quality, i wuda dissed 50 after his comment but then it fell into place, the dots became a lil bit more conected, bottom line, jay cuz had ROC, bigger than the unit. EGO was his own downfall i guess, I like Jay, i jus fink sum of his decisions were self centered

Timelessflow, you're on point with that comment.

People are making it sound like they have proof that Jay is directly responsible for the lack of interest the public has on certain artist or that he had certain artist dropped from the label.

Street Don,

I was following you until you said people seem to respect Nas as person more than Jay. That's a bold ass statement....you must have taken a poll or something to say that. I have heard my share of people air out both of them niggas as far as shady shit.

Why is that no one is blaming 50 for all the flops G-Unit has had for the past 2 years?

hmmm i dont give props to ppl who go against me but u got a point, i cant rele see 50 personally making every signin at g-unit, ROC was never a business, it was family, im jus sayin with jayz money, those niggaz shud be eatin good and chubby like rick ross but instead they are on radio wit sum uncertainty bout finance.ok nas and jayz, i was wrong, but Jay can admit that ether settled it all, i got more jay z tracks than nas tracks but truthfully, Nas has knowledge, jay has flow/delivery so to be honest Nas a better MC, but thats my view, freedom of speech

LOL....I definitely cant dispute who you like more between Nas and Jay. Either one is a good pick.

At the end of the day you can put money is niggas pocket and they still find a way to fuck it up.

Is there some problems at Rocafella??? Hell yeah it is

Is it any different than any other camp??? Hell no...example G-Unit, Dipset, Death Row, Cash Money.....when money get's involved it's only a matter of time before niggas start beef'in.

i think at the end of the day i respect free more for not blaming jigga for his problems. he handling it like a real nigga. even if jay is guilty of using defjam money on himself, he a smart nigga, he IS the most marketable rapper on the roster. i think he would break bread with free and beanie on whatever label he chose to go with. the fact that he put nas on DJ is proof that he is for the good of hip hop. and i dont know about freeway and sigel music, i buy alot of cds but i honestly didnt buy either of theres because i already heard it and was straight with burning it. i dont feel pity for a rap niggas pockets going thin. but on the other side of the same coin- my burning there shit is the same thing thats ruining real hip hop. I guess at the end of the day, they have to put out a good enough album for me to say i wanna buy his instead of nas new shit, instead of ghost new shit, instead of jay or whoever. Im gonna break the seal on about 5 or 6 cds a month- is yours gonna be one of em? well that depends on how good your shit really is...
