Elephant man readies new album
Dance hall Legend Elephant Man relocated to Diddy’s Bad Boy Entertainment last year, and is now gearing up to release his new cd, titled “Ele, aka The Energy God”. In a recent chat with Sohh, he explained his new deal, and what working with P. Diddy has been like.Bad Boy hasn’t exactly been known for it’s dance hall artists, or reggae, but Elephant Man claims this is a small hurdle, one that doesn’t bother him at all. “That’s not a concern, but Biggie Smalls that’s our rapper…from Jamaica. And Puffy’s lifestyle is like a Jamaican lifestyle, from nothing to something and he like the music from his heart and him do it from his heart.” “Elephant Man, me do the music from my heart so…my vibe is gonna blend with his vibe because it’s the two same things.”
He also has a plan to make his Jamaican dialogue a bit more digestable to the American public, saying: “They’re not gonna understand everything, but on this album, you dun know it’s a dancehall album. You’re gonna get dance hall, but we collaborate with certain artists from their world that’s gonna put a spice to the stuff, so they can understand the melodies, the hook,” Ele explained. “For instance, they know Rihanna, they know Busta Rhymes, Mya so we’re gonna do some collabos with some artists that’s their flavor, so it’s like best of both worlds.”
“Ele, aka The Energy God” is slated to release sometime in August.
Charlie Wilson sues Heineken
Charlie Wilson, uncle to Snoop Dogg, and lead singer of the world famous Gap Band filed a lawsuit against EMI, Capitol Records, and Heineken inc for using snippets of Snoop’s “Beautiful” in recent commercials for the product.
Charlie insists that the song was wrongfully licensed for usage by Capitol without any permission from the band. He also claims that EMI owes him a hefty sum for “Beautiful”, and “You Got What I Want”, a song featuring Snoop Dogg, Ludacris, and Goldie Loc.
