“BCD Music Group, nor any of it’s employees had any such knowledge of any wrong doings by DJ Drama or Don Cannon,” said Shila Mitra of BCD Music Group in a statement. “The business conducted between Aphilliates (DJ Drama’s company) and BCD was done on a purely professional basis and BCD had no intimate knowledge of the Aphilliates business dealings with others or the day to day activities involving Aphilliates, its owners or employees.” SHe further went on to explain that as soon as she heard the news, she “personally called a bailbondsman in Atlanta to try and facilitate the release of both Tyree C. Simmons and Donald Cannon. Unfortunately, I was unable to post bail as no bail had been set and no time had been appointed at that time for them to stand in front of a judge.”
The original e-mail, which ignited the inital rumor, was sent to hundreds of industry reps and the sender claimed to have an affiliation with Chamillionaire. Reps for Chamillionaire have since denied that any of the rapper’s associates sent the email. The Houston rapper and BCD Music Group have had their share of problems in the past, as the company was one of Chamillionaire’s early distributors of The Mixtape Messiah, Chamilitary and The Truth releases. However, the parties have since dissolved their relationship and BCD has a breach of contract suit against Chamillionaire stemming from their previous business dealings. After the email was distributed, BCD claims to have lost valuable business and even received death threats.
