After being hit with a $5 million lawsuit last month by a man who claimed Diddy’s bodyguards jumped him in a Manhattan nightclub last June--then with a $19 million lawsuit last month by former Bad Boy consultant, James Sabatino over audio and video footage he took of the slain rapper in 1994; The Hip Hop mogul has lost an appeal and is now being ordered to pay over $500,000 for sampling an Ohio Players song on Biggie’s debut album, Ready To Die.
The lawsuit, which was filed in Nashville federal court in 2005 by Bridgeport Music Inc and it's sister company Westbound Records, claims Bad Boy Records used “Singing In The Morning” by The Ohio Players without permission on the song “Ready To Die” by the late Notorious B.I.G.
In 2006, a jury awarded $733,878 in damages to Bridgeport Music Inc. and punitive damages to Westbound of $3.5 million.

According to Sixshot Magazine, Diddy and his camp appealed the judgment saying "the jury's verdict was a result of 'passion and prejudice' brought on by the plaintiffs lawyers’ who in their closing argument said:
“This is a joke. They think they can come down here to Nashville, Tennessee, and pull a fast one on the six of you.”'
The court denied the appeal stating that there was no objection made by Diddy's counsel when the ‘purportedly improper statements’ were made.
