Details Emerge In Lil Wayne Arrest
According to reports, New Orleans rapper Lil Wayne was arrested shortly after making his “Big Apple” debut with a show at the Beacon Theater.Wayne, who according to sources has a permit to carry a gun, made comments from the stage about being hassled by police prior to his set, and threatened not to perform in New York again.
According to MTV News, a New York Police Department spokesperson said that Wayne’s tour bus was pulled over at around 11:30 p.m. After searching the vehicle, police arrested the rapper for criminal possession of a weapon — a .40 caliber pistol — and another man on the bus for criminal possession of marijuana. Police identified the man charged with drug possession as Brooklyn native Derrick Lawrence.
Both men were awaiting an appearance before a judge at press time.
