David Banner Leaves Rock The Bell Tour
The Mississippi rapper has resigned from the Rock the Bells North American Festival, due to “creative and promotional differences” with the festival organizers, a representative for the rapper told AllHipHop.comBanner’s cancellation will effect 12 stops on the tour, including tonight’s performance (August 2) in Atlanta, GA, in addition to dates in Miami (August 4), Dallas (August 7), Houston (August 8), San Bernardino (August 11), San Diego (August 12), San Francisco (August 18), Salt Lake City (August 21), Denver (August 22), Minneapolis (August 25), Chicago (August 26) and Detroit (August 29).
The announcement comes as David Banner prepares his upcoming album Greatest Story Ever Told, which is due in stores October 9.
Twista Responds To McDonalds
Chicago rapper Twista has responded to McDonald’s decision in dropping him from their sponsored tour. McDonald’s cited Twista’s “controversial lyrics” as the reason behind dropping him from the 10-city outing. The rapper was initially slated to perform Aug. 7 in his hometown of Chicago.
“The recent trend of finger-pointing, and playing the blame game with certain media outlets and certain individuals needs to stop,” expressed the rapper, who is gearing up for the Sept. 18 release of his new album, Adrenaline Rush 2007.
“We live in a society that advocates free speech,” Twista noted. “You want free spech? You want to claim this land as the land of the free? Then our country’s symbol has to be one of its citizens exercising their right to stand up and shout at the top of their lungs using words and telling stories that capture the reality of their day-to-day lives.”
“Not all art is suitable for every age, just as not every movie is suitable for every age which is why it’s lawfully labeled with a ‘parental advisory’ sticker,” Twista continued. “Ultimately, the ‘parental advisory’ warning aides parents in their responsibility to police & guide their children, despite that it still should not discredit me or my music.”
McDonald’s spokesman, William Whitman, had this to say, “Although we respect free speech and artistic expression, we do not condone or perpetuate derogatory language,” Whitman said in a statement. “We want to ensure these free concerts are fun as well as appropriate for all of our customers.”

I feel where McDonalds is coming from; it's a Family oriented business. They'll probably have more people protesting them for condoning (in a sense) offensive language, than there are Twista fans. But this situation is still dumb as shit. Wasn't McDonalds aware of the content of Twista's lyrics BEFORE they booked him? If not they should've been. Somebody should've done some research.
