Reggaeton superstar, Daddy Yankee, had recently shown his support of Republican presidential candidate Sen. John McCain and although it was not a popular choice among the hip-hop community, he explains why he has no regrets.
"A man does not sell out when he backs his ideals," the Latin Grammy-winning reggaetón artist told a NY newspaper from his home in Puerto Rico. "I don't care who I piss off...This is about my ideals, not about making friends. Senator McCain is the kind of man whose promises you can actually believe in."
One of the pissed off was Fat Joe, who challenged Yankee to a debate. Joe, who seemed very upset about Yankee's support and thinks he's a "sellout", said when he opened up the newspaper and read about it, it made him sick to his stomach. "I felt like I wanted to vomit when I seen that. The reason why I
called him a sellout is because I feel he did that for a [publicity]
look, rather than the issues that are affecting his people that look up
to him. How could you want John McCain in office when George Bush and
the Republicans already have half a million people losing their homes
in foreclosure? We’re fighting an unjust war. It’s the Latinos and
black kids up in the frontlines, fighting that war...We over here
trying to take the troops out of Iraq and bring peace. This guy
immediately wants war. If not with Iraq or Afghanistan, he’ll start a
new one with Iran. I feel real disgusted that Daddy Yankee would do
that. Either he did that for a look, or he’s just not educated on
politics."
Joe then challenged Yankee to a debate and Yankee had this to say about that. "Look, I'm not a politician. I am a man with ideals, and I think that el Senador McCain is the best candidate. I asked el senador point-blank about whether or not he will seriously help Puerto Rico and our veterans here, and he said, 'Yes. You endorse me, and I will do it.' I believe he will back up his word."
He concluded by saying, "I like his stance on immigration reform, that he works across party lines to help immigrants, that he agreed to take a look and help the dire situation of aid to the veterans of Puerto Rico," Yankee said. "It's not fair that Boricua soldiers die and fight in wars and don't get the same benefits as those on the mainland. I like that el senador agreed to take a serious look and help those kinds of issues affecting us on the island."
When asked if he had ever even thought about supporting Democratic presidential candidate Barrack Obama, Yankee said, "never — not for a minute."

Barack’s presidency is important to the world..We could be further along in this so called “War on Terrorism”, which is running parallel with the “war on drugs” meaning we have no chance of stopping it. No one wants to work with us. We aren’t working well with the United Nations, a body of governments that can easily get terrorist harboring states to listen.
While I hope that if Barack is elected it will mean a lot of good change for us, the bottom line is, I doubt it will make much difference. The president is just a spokeman for the country. His team (DOD, CIA, FBI) is who really calls the shots. Not the President or the vice president. Its their cabinet administration that is going to be pulling the strings, not him individually.

According to Fat Joe, Daddy Yankee is blasphemous for supporting McCain. If Joe had been studying the financial market, he would’ve known that foreclosures were a result of the individuals that bought them thinking that they would appreciate in value when in truth they didn’t.
The race card was obvious pertaining to the war, so I digress on that one, but IMO there is one good thing coming out of this war: when Iraq is finally stabilized, the billions that the USA (and other countries) have invested in should pay off nicely, resulting in a global bull market, which inadvertedly boosts the economy…
Puerto Rico is a U.S. territory, not to mention the fact that the issue of it attaining its statehood is still prevalent. So I can see where Daddy Yankee is coming from when he refers to the veterans of his native country.

As for the candidates, they both have their flaws and both have their good points. I am a democratically minded person. However, I do not feel confident in Barack Obama being able to deliver on his promises. I think the fact that most people are voting for him because he is black is PURE IGNORANCE…. reason being, I AM MORE BLACK THAN OBAMA. Honestly, he comes off as kind of a douche bag and i do not think he could handle the job. And I agree Bush screwed up big time lying to the country so he could go the war, but face the facts. Sooner or later we would have had to step in over there and who knows if we didn’t there could have been another terrorist attack on U.S. soil. Most people that knock McCain have NO REAL POLITICAL KNOWLEDGE and they just assume that he is just like Bush. He has made it quite clear that he will do things much differently than Bush. A while ago I would have told you my vote was going to Obama, but now that I’ve done some research and watch their speeches, McCain is DEFINITELY the man for the job over Obama. McCain is a fucking decorated war hero. He spent years and years as a POW (Prisoner of War) in Vietnam because he would not sign the war crimes contract. They also offered him the right to go home because he was an Admiral’s son but he denied because he said “Its first come, first leave.” He would not leave until they let other U.S. POW’s who had been there longer leave before him. He was beat senseless everyday for not signing the War Crimes Contract and giving up the US and he was thrown in solitary confinement for like 5 years… he weighed less than 100 pounds at one point! Do your FUCKING RESEARCH before you knock someone because you GOT TO respect this man for what he’s done and what hes been through. If he shows that kind of valor, honor, and selflessness is a time of life or death, I DEFINITELY feel comfortable with him in office.
Let me remind you again, I am a Democrat, but this time the Republican candidate is clearly more experienced and much more capable then the Democratic candidate. Obama is just telling the country WHAT THEY WANT to hear. He cannot possibly deliver on what he promises without taxes going throught the roof. And if has been proven that Obama’s policies will cause taxes to raise. Suprisingly the Republican candidate’s policies will lower taxes and will help our ailing Mortgage and Foreclosure problems. McCain will not do things the way Bush did and he is much brighter and more experienced then Bush.
I never thought I would be arguing in the Republicans favor but if any of you would stop being IGNORANT and voting for someone because they are BLACK and actually researching their pasts and accomplishments and actually listen and understand what their policies are and how they will effect the country, you would start leaning toward McCain as well. I am a Democrat… i just for some reason do not feel confident in Obama but i was watchin an interview with him today on YouTube and his stance on the war was refreshing compared to what his previous plan of action was… I just think its ignorance that SOOO MANY ppl are just voting for him because hes black but cant tell u the first thing about his policies… WTF!
My main thing is this, and i know many will call me a hypocrite… I know our economy is in shambles and it DOES need a Democrats touch.
