Benzino is back.
The controversial rapper/entrepreneur was acquitted on charges of tax evasion last week, and is already on the move. He plans to lose the street persona, and become a politician.
As reported by the Boston Herald, Benzino (real name Raymond Scott) is considering to run for city countil in his Boston hometown. He is motivated by rising gang culture, and plans to use his Hip-Hop success as a positive influence.
“My heart is still in Boston,”said Benz, who is visiting housing projects and providing youths studio time to realize their dreams. “Most of these young kids don’t even know how to smile.”
The concept of a rapper making the transition to politics may sound awkward to some, there are some people who believe he can pull it off. Martin Leppo, a Brockton Lawyer, has known Ray since he was a child, and won’t count him out.
“I think he’s super bright,” Leppo said. “I think if he put his mind to it, he could do it.”
