Beastie Boys plan to drop instrumental Lp
Old school legends The Beastie Boys have been known for their increasingly long periods in between recording albums, but they intend to break that cycle with a new instrumental record due out later this year. This would mark an only 3 year wait since 2004’s critically acclaimed “To the 5 Boroughs”.
Appropriately titled “The Mix-Up”, this new album intends to showcase lots of cutting, and even more rhythm. Slated to be 12 tracks, they are all new, and none were ever tapped be rhymed over, even though group members are considering making 2 versions of the album- one with vocals and one without.
“The more we kept working on these songs, the happier with them we became, and the more confused in terms of where there was room to put vocals on them,” said Mike D.
“If we were trying to maximize our demographic or whatever, I’m not sure we’d come with an instrumental record right now,” says Mike D, “But I think we have to give people who’ve been listening to us some credit. They’ve gone to different places with us already, in terms of the influences we bring to the music we make, so hopefully they’ll be able to hang with this curveball as well.”
LL Cool J cancels summer tour
Due to unsaid family problems, superstar LL Cool J has been forced to cancel his Summer Tour. The news was spread by the event organizers of the Red Stripe Reggae Sumfest, where he was next scheduled to perform this July. He not only told them of canceling this show, but all summer commitments.
A statement from the festival spokesman confirmed the news, saying: “We have just been advised by LL Cool J’s management that due to a family problem, LL Cool J has been forced to cancel all his summer dates and hence he will not be performing at Sumfest.”

Beastie Boys have they slot in hip hop culture. Can't knock them for the body of work they have being the 1st white rappers in history to go platinum or multi-platinum.

the Beastie Boys ain't even fun to listen to anymore, I've lost interest.
As for LL, I don't really listen to his shit anymore, so I could care less about his summer tour.
