In a recent interview with MTV news, Beanie Sigel took time out to tell the world what he thought about the situation surrounding the breakup of Roc-A-Fella records, and how difficult it was to choose which friend to go with, Jay-Z, or Dame Dash. “I definitely didn’t want to pick between my friends,” said Beanie, about the Roc-A-Fella breakup. “Who wants to do that? Where I’m from we don’t do that. I don’t blow whichever way the wind goes. I couldn’t pick between my friends.
“The reason why I didn’t make that decision, I didn’t know what the situation [with Jay and Dame] was, why [the split] happened. I’ve asked both sides and didn’t get a legitimate answer before I had to go [to prison]. It unfolded while I was locked up. I just wanted my own situation where if I was to make music, it wouldn’t be me choosing Dame Dash Music Group or the Roc. Technically I was still a Roc-A-Fella artist during the split.”Sigel spent over a year making his decision on who to run with, leading to many rumors popping up- even one with him possibly heading to G-Unit. Beanie insists that many things were not as they seemed however, even though Dame and Biggs were the ones that appeared to be the closest to him. They were there to get him after being released from jail, and it was rumored that Sigel had moved to Dash’s Damon Dash Music Group.
“A lot of things be smoke and mirrors,” said Sigel. “A lot of people thought I was leaning toward Dame Dash Music Group — they seeing Dame in the videos we shooting and the ‘House Arrest’ thing they put on BET, and him coming to court and coming to jail to see me. It was like ‘OK, Dame is riding with him.’ That was never the case with me. A lot of people look at it like Dame did this, that and third, that should have been my obligation. But for what? If you doing that, you doing it from the heart.”
What Beanie is alluding to is, that he thinks Dame may have not been being completely genuine with him from a friendship standpoint, and seemed to have another purpose for staying by his side in the wake of the label breakup. When asked if he thought that Dame was being real him with his intentions, Sigel responded: “I don’t know what his intentions were, but in all honesty: Nah.”
“After a while I felt like sh—for feeling like that,” he added. “You don’t want to question your friend, or who you thought was your friend. Their loyalty and sincerity towards you, you don’t want to question that. As time went on, I did things to bring stuff out to light, and I was finding out a lot of stuff that wasn’t right.”
“When you look at Roc-A-Fella as whole — no disrespect to any other artists over there — but if you don’t have Jay-Z, who’s the next best thing for you to have? I’m no dummy, I’m no fool. I seen through all that. I was letting that weigh out. There’s a song by Bill Withers: ‘Use Me.’ “
Sigel also added weight to the rumor that the State Property clothing line may be well on it’s way to shutdown, saying “Ain’t no status,”[For the Line] “Ain’t no status.” ...

These are THREE of the GREATEST Hip-Hop albums of ALL-TIME, HANDS DOWN, with It Was Written being my personal favorite. The most hated on Nas albums are actually Nastradamus and HHID (because of the title, of course). Nas is far from underrated. He's universally in, AT LEAST, the TOP 4 of all-time. If that's underrated then we need 2 call Webster.
what i mean is that if u asked people. 3 out of a good 10 would make Nas top 5. The rappers would really never mention him as one of the legends. MTV and BET and AllHipHop.com dont count. But maybe underated wasnt a good word huh?...But thats my opinion...He got top 5 with me.
