In court once again, A Philadelphia judge cast the decision to extend rapper Beanie Sigel’s supervised release. He was questioned in Federal court due to a positive drug test, and association with convicted felons, two things that violate his probation.
Sigel (real name Dwight Grant) was originally sentenced in October of 2004 to 1 year and a day, along with 2 years of supervised release, on drug and gun charges.
Having failed to notify his probation officer that he had been stopped and questioned by police on Aug.20 when detained with several men (one a convicted felon), The U.S Probation office requested a hearing.
Sigel also tested positive for morphine and codeine in a drug test in December. His response to U.S District Court Judge R. Barclay Surrick was that he had been given a prescription by his doctor 3 days before the scheduled test, which caused the positive.
Nevertheless, Surrick sentenced Sigel to an additional 6 months of supervised release, warning Sigel that he would have to:
“Get the situation under control or otherwise I’m going to have to take action you’re not going to appreciate.”
It seems they are running out of patience for Beanie. The Hip-Hop community hopes he keeps out of trouble.
