50 Cent Launches Online Boutique
Hip Hop artist and Mogul 50 Cent is set to open a virtual online boutique to expand his G-Unit clothing line and promote his upcoming album titled Curtis.50 Cent will be launching it through Zwinktopia, a virtual world where there is close to 6.5 million users, where they can create or turn themselves into a 3D character and interact with other inhabitants. The users can also purchase virtual clothes and belongings for their characters. The rapper will join other artists such as rock stars Slipknot and The Sex Pistols.
Unlike other performers on the site, 50 Cent’s merchandise will be free to users but 50 Cent’s creative team are still planning how the store will operate.
Chris Romero, the star’s creative director of digital media, says, “It’s the equivalent of sending a marketing team to a new country where there is a new economy.”
Gucci Mane Launches Label
In Other news, Atlanta rapper Gucci Mane will be lauching a new label called So Icey along with Czar Entertainment under Asylum/Atlantic Records and is currently working on a new album to be released this summer.“It was a great coup for us to land Gucci Mane,” said Todd Moscowitz, President of Warner Music Group’s Independent Label Group (ILG). “He’s one of the most charismatic and acclaimed rappers on the street, with an extraordinary life story and the authenticity and talent to back it up.”
“Since releasing his first album two years ago, he has emerged as a compelling true-life storyteller with a unique voice and undeniable star power,” Kallman stated. “I am thrilled to welcome Gucci and his So Icey label into the Atlantic and Asylum family.”
Gucci, who has sold over 400,000 albums independently with his biggest hit “Icey” featuring Young Jeezy will be releasing the untitled album this summer and will feature collabos with Rich Boy, Silk, Pimp C. and more.
