50 Cent stars opposite Nicholas Cage
Last year 50 followed in Eminem’s footsteps and starred in his own semi-autobiographical movie, Get Rich Or Die Trying, telling a tale of gritty and vivid violence. 50 cent will continue his film career by starting opposite Nicholas Cage in The Dance, a film based on the life of prison boxing coach Billy “The Kid” Roth.
“I play a fighter in Angola State Prison, and Nicolas Cage plays the founder of the actual boxing program,” said 50 of the flick he’ll shoot sometime next year, which tells the true story of a veteran boxing coach and the prize-worthy fighter he discovers locked up in Louisiana. “Nicolas Cage is one of my favorite actors,” the rapper said of his new co-star.
“He has a few films that I watched that I couldn’t believe the things that he was able to pull off.” This month, 50 Cent began an intense training program to bulk up for the boxing role, just as Cage has for films like “Kiss of Death” and “Con Air.”
“I just started the boxing training, so I’ll be in top condition by the time we actually get ready to shoot it,” he said, adding that all the running and jumping rope will soon be followed by a very special tutorial. “I’m actually going to be traveling to Las Vegas to train with Roger Mayweather. He trained [WBC Welterweight Champion and nephew] Floyd Mayweather, who is pound for pound the best fighter right now,” 50 Cent said.

Speaking of 50 cent and movies, in a recent interview,50 cent urged Pulp Fiction star Samuel L Jackson to reevaluate his stance on starring opposite untrained rappers in movies after Jackson refused to appear in his movie Get Rich Or Die Trying.
“If he insists on taking that stance, people from the music world can look at Jamie Foxx and be upset. Jamie Foxx sold his records based on him being an Oscar-winning actor. “It works vice versa on all different fronts. You see people come from all different perspectives of entertainment and receive opportunities. I don’t want to do a movie with a rapper either if he’s not 100 per cent prepared for it.” said 50, Jackson was pleasantly surprised by the rapper, but he’s still keen to rally against casting musicians over trained actors in movies. He adds, “I said to the director, ‘It’s your film. If he’s the best actor you’ve seen, fine. If you need a built-in audience of some sort… do what you got to do. “50 Cent and I had lots of conversations about this and we see each other out at functions, so we have a working and social relationship that’s fine.”
