Hip Hop star 50 Cent's (also known as Curtis Jackson) lawyer filed a defamation lawsuit against Shaniqua Tompkins, the mother of his 11-year old son Marquise.
The suit is to cease Ms. Tompkins speaking to media outlets and wrongfully accusing the rapper for the fire that brought his 2.4 million dollar Long Island Mansion to the ground in May. The mother stated the rapper was behind the fire, because he was upset. She also revealed that he told her, "If he can't have it, no one can. He said that he was gonna have somebody come kill me and watch what he does, and this is what he did.”
According to The New York Daily News 50's lawyer, Brett Kimmel responded to the charges with, "There comes a point where you can no longer sit on your hands and listen to her spread these falsehoods," 50's lawyer, and. "Besides hurting his reputation, they have a damaging impact on their son."
Problems began for the two parties in regards of the mansion, when 50 Cent was growing tired of Ms. Tompkins living for free in the house, and having other men live there while he pays for the entire accommodations. Courts ruled since then in favor of 50, and ordered her to pay $4,500 for rent, which was ignored by Tompkins.
Following the blaze, 50 Cent claimed in a petition filed in Suffolk Family Court, Shaniqua will not tell him where she is living and not allowing him to see his son. He also adds that she is willfully violating their court ordered custody agreement due to her actions. 50 said he has sent Marquise a duffle bag full of new clothes, as well as a cell phone to stay in touch with the young boy.
In the petition, the rapper states, "The only way [50] can communicate with his son is to call [Tompkins'] cell phone. On June 11 ... [she] did permit [50] to speak with his son,” the complaint reads. “However ... she was hovering over Marquise, monitoring the conversation and, after a short while, she interrupted the conversation by taking the phone from Marquise and began yelling at [50]."
Tompkins lawyers were not available for comment.
In related 50 Cent news, fast food restaurant Taco Bell has approached the rapper with a challenge, offering to donate $10,000 to the charity of his choice if he changes his name for one day.
The fast food chain says that along with the name change, 50 has to stop past a Taco Bell of his choosing and rap his order at the drive-thru window, however, he must use his newly adopted name, 79 Cent, 89 Cent or 99 Cent. Along with the donation, the particular restaurant the rapper stops by, will feed all the guest for free.
Taco Bell President and CEO Greg Creed states in a letter obtained by OK! magazine, “We know that you adopted the name 50 Cent years ago as a metaphor for change. We at Taco Bell are also huge advocates for change. We encourage you to ‘Think Outside the Bun’ and hope you accept our offer.”
