The first-week sales total for Meek Mill’s debut album Dreams & Nightmares, which hit stores last week are in, and the MMG artist finds himself in the #2 spot on the Billboard charts.
According to HitsDailyDouble, the Philly rapper sold just under his projection of 175-200k and moved 167,000 copies of his major label debut and came in #2 on the Billboard charts during his first sales week.
Although Meek Mill had a strong opening week, he still landed in the #2 spot like Kendrick Lamar did the week prior, as they both faced off against Taylor Swift. Swift, who had a huge first week, returned with a big second week and sold over 330k copies of her new album Red, and held onto the #1 spot on the charts for consecutive weeks.
As mentioned above, Kendrick Lamar debuted #2 on the Billboard charts the previous week as he moved 242,122 copies of his major label debut, good kid, m.A.A.d. city.
The Compton rapper had a huge dip in sales during his second sales week as his numbers decreased by 76% and he moved 59k more units. As Lamar moved nearly 60,000 records in his second week, he has now sold over 300k copies of GKMC since it’s release on October 22nd.
