Kanye West released his new album, Yeezus, on June 18th. Now, just about 2-months later, the Chicago rapper’s sixth studio album is certified Gold by the RIAA.

West’s Yeezus’ debuted #1 on the Billboard charts in its first week on store shelves with 328,800 copies sold.

As of now, the album has sold 497k copies, but has been certified Gold by the RIAA for shipping over 500,000 copies as of August 12th.


As noted above, Yeezus topped the charts in its first sales week, and did that by besting J.Cole’s sophomore effort, Born Sinner, which went on the pass Yeezus in sales the following week, and consecutive weeks after while earning certified Gold status by the RIAA in 5-weeks on store shelves.

With Yeezus going Gold, Kanye West now has 5 Platinum solo albums, and 1 Gold solo album, and another Platinum plaque for his joint project, Watch The Throne, with Jay-Z.
